Our most recent project was with the RETURNAfrica Hutwini Walking Camp in South Africa’s Makuleke Contractual Park, which has undergone an impressive upgrade!

Featured here: Paindane Kotini Outdoor Occasional chairs and Imbiza Loungers, both crafted out of sugar gum with a natural, oiled finish.

What makes our furniture different?

It isn’t manufactured using the timber you’re familiar with, such as oak, ash or mahogany.

Rather, we’re a bit more creative. 😉

All our furniture is exclusively manufactured out of alien-invasive timber sourced and removed from our natural ecosystems.

These timbers include sugar gum, river red gum, cottonwood and blackwood, each as durable as they are beautiful!

At Homewood, it’s important to us that our team come to work feeling motivated and fulfilled.

One of the ways we create such a workplace is through fun, incentive programmes (with a little healthy team competition thrown in the mix), rewarding those who’ve shown continuous improvement and smashed their quality control goals, for example.

To celebrate Youth Day, we’d love to introduce you to Vuyo, one of our talented young craftsmen. ​🙌

Coming from humble beginnings, Vuyo joined the Homewood family in 2020 and has since become an integral part of our team.​ His journey, to us, is a testament to the potential that lies within our youth and the positive impact of providing opportunities and training.​

Recently, the matrics of Edendale Technical High School paid a visit to the Homewood factory in Lidgetton.

The visit was facilitated by Ty and Mama Rosa (as we affectionately call her), and the learners were given an overview of a variety of processes, from how to read timber and grain to the manufacturing of joints and other woodworking processes.

The learners each have a coffee table project at the end of the year so seized the opportunity to learn and ask questions throughout the tour all the way up to climbing back on the bus at the end of the day.

Our takeaway?

The learners were SO eager to learn and equally eager to put these learnings into practice, putting hope in our hearts for the future of our industry and beautiful country. 🙌
