We, as management, appreciate the fears many of you may have regarding fireworks displays in celebration of the new year. It is out of respect for each one of you that we will never compromise our relationship with you by irresponsible fireworks displays.
Yes, we wish to celebrate the on set of new year with an impressive display of airborne colours and lights, but only in a responsible manner. Therefore we have not procured any "explosive" type devises which could "spook" unsuspected animals, especially cats and dogs. We wish to do something similar to last year, an event that received no complaints or negative publicity.
However, many people in Welkom may have procured explosive-like fireworks from the numerous licenced outlets in town. These devises are the ones discharged in the backyards of many neighbourhoods and is certainly the number one cause of animal anxiety. Unfortunately, we have no control over that.
For your own peace of mind, please join us at 12 o'clock tonight an decide then whether we fulfilled your expectation of responsible business people.
We support animal rights, we have in this year alone together with a lot of businessmen raised 300 k to SPCA. Happy new year.
