I remember my mother asking me what I wanted to be. I had just completed my grade 12, fresh in society and just stayed at home doing nothing. She continued," what career do you want to pursue, perhaps you want to be a Doctor?". I sat there staring at her for moment before bursting into laughter. I found the thought of being a Doctor very funny because in my mind, 'I wasn't smart enough' and such careers were not for people like me.

After recollecting myself, and told her why I found this funny. She looked at me straight in the eyes and said, " anything that a man with two arms, a brain and a beating heart just like you, can do, you can also do."

This took outlook on life is one that I have taken to heart. This realization that I was just as good as anyone. Never feel inferior or look down on yourself. You can achieve anything you put your mind and heart to. Sometimes you get at a go and other times it takes a little longer.

DEAR BEGINNER [Graphic Designer]

To the Beginner version of myself, Graphic design will be so hard and frustrating at first. Especially, when you open and take a look at the interface of the designing app. After that you'll try to create something and most likely won't turn out that good. It can be discouraging, I know. Not to mention having to dreadfully search the internet for every simple design solution. Nevertheless, trust me it's about to get so much better. Acknowledge that there's a learning process and you'll be fine. With time and a little persistence, you'll get to a point where you'll design your own work without watching a single tutorial. Have fun, enjoy the process and find pleasure in all of it. Just never stop learning, it's the only way to grow!

I remember taking down flyers from notice boards and thinking to myself," Why was it made like this, I think I can do a better job". Funny thing was, I had no clue on how to design anything at the time. I had no knowledge of graphic design. All I had was a strong gut feeling and determination that I could do it.
