A lot of people live with bad dental health because of dental anxiety. You can beat dental anxiety and save your teeth.

A common cause of dental anxiety is
fear of pain; thankfully modern dentistry has become relatively pain-free.

In addition we give you some control of your dental appointment by allowing you to signal ( by raising your left hand) for the dentist to stop at any point if you are having any discomfort during the procedure.

So today we had miss T, age 9 who came through with an abscess on the upper first molar.

Dr Moyo👩🏾‍🔬:- Your tooth needs to be removed my dear; to do that a mosquito will bite your tooth and this will make it fall asleep. After your tooth falls asleep I can remove it without you having any pain.

Miss T's mom👩🏾:- I will just wait in the reception then.

Miss T 👧🏽:- So if it's not scary why is mommy leaving

Dr Moyo:- 😆😆😆

Needless to say miss T's mom, had to stay put😅. Miss T had her tooth removed happily, with little ouchs here and there at the 🦟 of course.

Case:- Dental Caries on upper right second molar

Treatment Done:- Composite filling with GIC base. Subtle enameloplasty to make the fissures easier to clean. The discolored fissure had no decay, just discoloration and was left as is to conserve tooth structure.

This cavity was an incidental finding during dental examination. Routine dental examinations lead to early diagnosis of dental disease, better treatment outcomes, cheaper cost of treatment and reduced loss of time from work and school.

A story from this past week:-

So we had the privilege of attending to Mr S' family (ie. Mr S, Mrs S, their daughter 👧🏾(11), son👦🏾 (8), daughter 🧑🏾‍🦱 (4))

Attending to a family of 5 can take upto 3 hours or more.

About 2 and a half hours into the appointment

👩🏾‍🦱4:-Doctor, doctor (calling Dr Moyo)
👩🏾‍🔬:-Yes, my dear
👧🏾11:-She is not a doctor she is a dentist
🧑🏾‍🦱4:-Dentist, dentist; I am hungry!!!
👩🏾‍🔬:-🤣🤣🤣

We have since stocked our surgery with snacks. The kids won't go hungry. It is true our children teach us.

A healthy smile is the best back to school accessory.

We are waiting to check the little ones' teeth and teach them the correct oral hygiene routine before they go back to school, even online school.
