We have been working on a project for the last year or so and we’re finally at a point where we have something…
So many women in my home-country Zimbabwe, have had to give birth in poor conditions without basic supplies needed for a safe delivery. Some of these women have even had the indignity of giving birth in the open air, outside of health facilities.
Some friends and I have been touched by this terrible situation and decided to do something about it. Our new non-profit organization Garikai Health is distributing safe-delivery packs to pregnant women in need in Zimbabwe, so that their delivery is safe and hygienic.
We just provided our first consignment of packs to 50 women in Kuwadzana, Harare, who will now have all they need for a safe delivery, but the need is great.
We’re asking for donations to help give more women the gift of a safe birth.
For $25 dollars, each woman receives a delivery kit with some essential items needed for a safe delivery at her local clinic (bucket to carry water, surgical gloves, surgical blades and suturing material, umbilical cord clamps, cotton wool, swabs and sanitary towels, surgical antiseptic and soap, baby receiving blanket and hat and linen savers).
