After a bird hits your window, try to locate the bird. It will likely be near the window. If the bird is sitting upright, watch it for about five minutes and see if it recovers. If the bird is simply stunned, it may need a few minutes to collect itself before it flies off. If the bird has not made any attempt to move far after several minutes, you may need to take more action.
This little guy took about 10 minutes before he felt better before taking flight.
Citrus swallowtail butterfly.
Swallowtails get their name from the "tails" on the back edge of their wings that reminded people of the forked tails of Swallows. Adults swallowtails have black or black and yellow/white wings, sometimes with additional blue or red markings.
It's such an incredible image. Learning compound words, and she managed to get the right word but drew an image of a pig sitting a top a pen cause she had no clue what a pigpen looked like.

Mandala Dots needs patience and determination.
Mandala is interpreted as the starting point, the beginning of contemplation, and devotion to the divine. From there, the dot is surrounded by lines and geometrical patterns that symbolize the universe, encompassed by the outer circle which represents the cyclical nature of life.
Happy International Zebra Day. Did you know that each zebra's set of stripes is unique, just like a humans fingerprint 🦓

Caterpillars don't breathe through their mouths. Instead, they breathe through tiny holes in their bodies called spiracles. They only use their mouths for chewing their food.
Supervised tummy time is important because it helps to strengthen the baby's neck, shoulder, and arm muscles so the baby can start to sit up, crawl, and eventually walk on their own.
The word chameleon is derived from the Latin and Greek words that translate to “lion on the ground.”
These creatures have unique bulging eyes that can move and focus independently, allowing them to watch for prey and predators at the same exact time.

To Dissolve or not to Dissolve, that was the question.
The children used different items and amounts of water to learn what dissolves in water and what does not. They really loved getting their hands messy.
Friends don't let friends become dehydrated.
As the school year starts up, remember to keep yourself hydrated and try remind a friend or two 😉

As we take a look back on our year of interoception learning, we wanted to bring back one of our most popular posts from the month of January, and perhaps the year!
Co-Regulation is NOT ‘coddling’. Co-regulation is NOT ‘reinforcing an undesirable behavior’. Co-regulation is offering empathetic kindness to another human being. So the next time your child, your student, or your client is having a difficult moment, know that when you offer co-regulation in a way that is meaningful to them, you are teaching them that they are deserving of empathy and kindness.

Some simple and cost-free ideas that teachers can adopt to help dyslexic students in the classroom.
Number #1 & #2 were a couple of the things that helped me most in class!
This is a hard pill to swallow, but the “truthi-est” ones often are.
I believe punishment is mainly used in the absence of not knowing what else to do...or, even if we know what to do, we are still developing the skill to do it. Punishment is easier, more efficient, and gets the “job done.” Long-term, it creates kids who become sneaky/rebel, feel ashamed, and it fractures a secure connection with the parent.
So, what to do instead?
The first thing we have to do is get our own mindset right: in other words, find our own calm. Easier said than done, I know. :) Finding our calm in the face of being triggered is the product of the inner work I talk about all the time here. It’s a muscle we strengthen every day by unlearning old narratives, taking radical care of our needs, going to therapy, etc.
Second, we must become compassionate detectives and try to uncover the “why” behind the behavior. We’re not accepting the behavior - we’re getting to the bottom of why it happened so we can prevent it from happening (as often) in the future.
Third, revisit your family values. Instead of enforcing rules because “you’re the boss” remind your kids of what’s important in your family.
Lastly, when the dust has settled, talk about what set your child off to begin with. What caused the meltdown/dysregulation/undesirable behavior? Remind them that they’re a good kid (and remind yourself that you’re a good parent) and that sometimes we make mistakes when our needs aren’t met.
One of my favorite quotes on my Connected Kid Cards is “I’m not here to punish you for your mistakes. I’m here to help you learn from them.” It’s so true.
Check out the entire Connected Kid Collection at KidToolkit.com or go straight to the link in my bio where you can view all 3 products (cards, activities, reparenting workbook) that come with your purchase.
Supervised tummy time is important because it helps to strengthen the baby's neck, shoulder, and arm muscles so the baby can start to sit up, crawl, and eventually walk on their own. Improve babies' ability to move and control their muscles to complete various actions (sometimes called “motor skills”)
Doing tummy time every day is essential.

This here is my favourite giraffe in my class. 🦒 He is on my English board, and this week, we looked at book reports of their favourite book from home. Such an array of different books appear. I love seeing what they view as important in a story.
When you have bad days, remember we do it for them. To make them have a safe space to learn and grow, to be themselves. 💕
There is so much more to behaviour than most people think. Children don’t try to upset us, there is usually something behind it. They are communicating their need through behaviour. If we look behind the behaviour we can see a child who is doing the best they can
