Congratulations to former UN independent expert on albinism, .K. Ero, on her honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Lancaster University! Honoured for her past and ongoing work at the UN human rights mandate on albinism and for tackling harmful practices related to accusations of witchcraft and ritual attacks.

Ghanaian video game company Leti Arts with support from Institut Français Ghana launched the superhero comic book” Blind Frontiers: Niuma’s Tale” on 28th February 2022. Niuma, a character with albinism is the first superheroine from west Africa.

British family set Guinness World Record for most siblings with albinism. A British family has secured a Guinness World Record for having the largest number of siblings with albinism. The six siblings all have a condition called Albinism meaning they have white skin and hair and they form part of what is thought to be the largest family in the world of siblings with Albinism. The tight-knit group of siblings says the condition has brought them closer together and they are proud of their identities, despite bullying and discrimination they have faced in the past for being different. On International Albinism Awareness Day, Sunday, the UN chief reiterated his “solidarity with persons with albinism”. Secretary-General António Guterres said that this year’s theme, Strength Beyond All Odds, reflects the “resilience, perseverance and achievements” of people with albinism in the face of pervasive “misconceptions, discrimination and violence”. ‘Demystify’ albinism and end discrimination – UN chief On International Albinism Awareness Day, Sunday, the UN chief reiterated his “solidarity with persons with albinism”.

On 13 June 2021, we commemorated the International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD). With the support of Nedbank Zimbabwe, SPAR Zimbabwe, and NaturalAirZimbabwe, we shared this significant day with our community. The theme for this year is 'Strength Beyond All Odds'. It was chosen to:-
-Highlight the good qualities of people with albinism around the world.
-Show that people with albinism were made to defy all odds.
-Celebrate how people with albinism worldwide meet and exceed expectations in all domains of life
-Encourage everyone during this time of the global pandemic

Happy International Albinism Awareness Day to the Albinism community.

I intend to be an inspiration to the youth with Albinism in order to build their self-esteem and self-confidence and advocacy. This I believe will have a strong impact on someone and urge them to come out of the backyards of society and go far!

With great sadness as Global Aid Missions we would like to announce the loss of our beloved Mai Mudzudza. She passed away this morning after a short illness. She was a strong tower, mother, counselor, advisor, prayer warrior and a friend. Always there to help, encourage, spreading warmth and happiness. May you please help us mourn her. Surely heaven has gained an angel. Fambai zvakanaka amai 🕊

Only recently have I realized that being different is not something you want to hide or squelch or suppress. The most incredible beauty and the most satisfying way of life comes from affirming your own uniqueness. Beauty shouldn’t be about changing yourself to achieve an ideal or be more socially acceptable. Real beauty, the interesting, truly pleasing kind, is about honoring the beauty within you and without you. It’s about knowing that someone else’s definition of pretty has no hold over you. No one knows what you have been through, what your ears have heard or what your pretty little eyes have seen, but I can reassure you ~ whatever you have conquered, it shines through your mind. BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE. What you have to decide... is how you want your life to be. If your forever was ending tomorrow, would this be how you'd want to have spent it? Listen, the truth is, nothing is guaranteed. You know that more than anybody. So don't be afraid. Be alive.
