Mozambique is rich in natural resources, is biologically and culturally diverse, and has a tropical climate. Its extensive coastline, fronting the Mozambique Channel, which separates mainland Africa from the island of Madagascar, offers some of Africa's best natural harbours.

Let’s welcome Mozambique 🇲🇿 as it will be represented by Lucilene Angelina for the first ever Mr and Miss Albinism Africa to be held in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 on 26 April 2025 .

Death Notice From the Zimbabwe Albino Association (ZIMAS )

The board and management of ZIMAS would like to notify our partners, community and members of the death of our long standing Board Member and Secretary General of ZIMAS Mr Farai Maunganidze PhD. He was promoted to glory on the 6th of July 2024. He has been a leader of ZIMAS since 2016. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the this tragic loss.

He will be buried on Tuesday 9th July 2024 at Zororo Cemetry in Chitungwiza at 1300-1400.

We have lost an icon and a leader, the late Mr Farai Maunganidze was a true believer of integration and worked hard to spearhead the efforts for making lives of persons with albinism bearable. He was a man of great intellect, vision and courage who contributed immensely to the growth of the organisation and an inspiration to everyone whose life he touched. He has left behind a powerful legacy of humility, simplicity and dedication..

My name is Leonardo Marcelino Mendes. I am a Mozambican citizen, specifically from the province of Maputo. I am 21 years old. I am very versatile and enjoy many cultural areas. I am a Law student at Eduardo Mondlane University, and I graduated in 2024. I decided to pursue this branch of Law for several reasons: to enforce justice, which is rarely fair; and one day, in Human Rights, I will put an end to the inhumanity that some communities have towards people with albinism. In 2021, I entered the sports field (adapted athletics). The sports field has greatly influenced the fashion industry, which has been one of my dreams since childhood, as sports have kept me in shape.

Many thanks to Ivory Coast for joining forces with other albinism organizations to the First ever Mr and Miss Albinism Africa a success .

The NGO Bien Etre des Albinos de Côte d'Ivoire (BEDACI) is a structure created in March 2009 by albino and non-albino people for the promotion, protection and care of people with albinism in Côte d'Ivoire. Ivory. Ivory; legally recognized by the Ivorian State through the Ministries of the Interior, Health, Social Affairs and Human Rights.

We are geared for August 2024 .

We call upon organizations for people with albinism in Africa to be part of the Mr and Miss Albinism Africa.

Sierra Leone Association for Persons With Albinism is one of the organization which will be involved in this movement . The organization will be part of this history making in raising awareness through the pageant .

SLAPWA’s Vision
An inclusive and obstacle free society, where all people with albinism live in dignity, respect, exercise their rights, and involve in all sector of life in Sierra Leone.

SLAPWA’s Mission
Is to to influence the recognition of people with albinism in national laws, policies, and developmental programs through advocacy, partnership, and empowerment for the equalization of rights and well being.

SLAPWA’s Objectives
1. To engage people with albinism through building their capacity and facilitation partnership with other stakeholders, including governments, civil society, and the private sector.
2. ⁠To influence and advocate for the realization of rights and inclusion of people with albinism in national laws, policies, and programs in Sierra Leone.
3. ⁠To promote health, educational , programs and awareness raising on people with albinism inline with international practices and development targets .
4. ⁠To work towards the elimination of forms of violence and discrimination to promote sustainable development and well being of people with albinism.
5. ⁠Enhance active participation and involvement in upholding a culture of respect for human rights; improve the lives of people with albinism in society through effective information sharing, basic education, capacity building and livelihood community driven programs.

6. To Organize Beauty Pageantry and talent shows to promote selflove and self confidence of individual With Albinism.

7. ⁠To advocate and fight against the hazardous effect of climate change and global warming on people with albinism in Sierra Leone.

Why do people struggle to take action?
Fear of failure or fear of success are common fears that keep people in inaction. Fear will keep you stuck in your comfort zone forever. It can be helpful to remember that everyone at some point on their journey has experienced the fear you are feeling.

Why we should never stop dreaming?
Dreaming is all about finding yourself, finding your goals and live a life that you don't regret. If you stop dreaming you won't truly live and when you get old you will regret the dreams you don't persuade. If you have a dream, you must fight for it, that dream chooses you so have the courage to grab it.
