In order to move away from a consumer-driven society to one that is environmentally, economically and socio-culturally sustainable, the government of Andhra Pradesh created several initiatives to promote sustainable tourism.🌱

We are thrilled to announce that the Department of Tourism Management at Sabaragamuwa University, Sri Lanka, is proud to host the final dissemination meeting of the CESTour initiative.
This final meeting will bring together plenty of tourism academics from partner universities from Nepal, India, Italy and Sri Lanka to mark the culmination of the project.
Sustainable Tourism has become a national priority for the Government of India, which has implemented several policies to foster a sustainable future for tourism and environment. ⚖️🌱
Together with other initiatives, policy synergies between economy and environment were identified, such as:

On the 21st of January CESTour of Nirma University Ahmedabad organized a captivating journey through the heart of Ahmedabad - a practical on-the-field vocational training that left a lasting mark on the participants.
☀️Starting bright and early at 7:45 am, the Heritage Walk traced the "Mandir to Masjid" route, meandering through 20 points of historical significance in the old city of Ahmedabad. Starting from a Hindu temple and ending at a Muslim mosque, each stop illuminated the rich tapestry of Ahmedabad's cultural and historical heritage.✨

The third year undergraduates of the hospitality tourism and events management degree program of Uva Wellassa University participated in a two days field visit to Polonnaruwa and Hiriwadunna village on 26th and 27th January 2024.
