🙌🏻High-level meeting addresses pressing challenges for consumers and tattoo industry due to new REACH regulation.
On October 27, 2023, a landmark meeting brought together leading experts from the tattoo industry at the highest level to address the challenges posed by Commission Regulation (EU) 2020/2081 of December 14, 2020, amending Annex XVII of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) as regards substances in tattoo inks or permanent make-up.
Mr. Marc Angel, Vice President of the EU Parliament, welcomed the distinguished participants to this momentous meeting that brought together the combined expertise of the tattoo industry. The focus was on the urgent need to address the current challenges related to the REACH regulation.

Die drei europäischen Farbhersteller MT.DERM, I AM INK und Deep Colours! haben sich mit einem Brief an die Kommissionspräsidentin der EU gewendet um Pigment Blue 15 weiter nutzen zu können. Unfortunately, the expected show with the clear message:

1️⃣the process has always been transparent
2️⃣The consumer must be protected - injection into the skin is a RISK.
3️⃣The good manufacturers will comply with the REACH regulations and thus improve their market chances (the bad ones will fall away).
4️⃣who wants to change REACH has to drill the monster board "annex XV dossier" - no short cuts for tattoo....

No, the fight is not over yet!
Yes, some ink manufacturers already supply REACH-compliant inks. Until 2023, they are still allowed to use the two pigments Blue 15:3 and Green 7 for production. However, the manufacturers also make it clear in public statements that the next major problem for the tattoo industry will be the ban on these two pigments from 2023.
We at Save the Pigments are still trying to find a solution with the support of industry, science and politics.

An ECHA webinar on the REACH Regulation will be held on Tuesday, 3/29/22 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. We have prepared intensively for this together with many experts from industry, sector representatives and science. The goal is to have a joint dialogue that points out the problems of the regulation in an objective and factual manner.
As this webinar is very short, we hope that all our questions will be answered and considered.

Auch wir - die STP-Initiative - freuen uns über die sich häufenden
Meldungen von Farbenherstellern, das Ziel der REACH-Konformität erreicht
zu haben. Gleichzeitig möchten wir jedoch darauf hinweisen, dass dies
nicht die mit Blau 15 und Grün 7 hergestellten Farben betrifft und dass
es dafür immer noch keinen adequaten Ersatz gibt, bzw. geben wird und

Desweitern möchten wir darauf hinweisen, dass Preiserhöhungen nicht ihre Ursache in der
bösen EU haben, sondern - wenn überhaupt - aus der Tatsache resultieren,
dass der Rohstoffmarkt aufgrund der Pandemie die Märkte nicht mehr
bedienen kann.

+++ Gefährlichkeit von Tattoo-Farben - jetzt ernsthaft?? +++ Seit Anfang dieses Jahres sind durch neue eingeführte EU-Richtlinien zahlreiche Tattoo-Farben aufgrund der in Ihnen enthaltenen Pigmente, die als potenziell gefährlich angesehen werden, verboten. Ich beschäftige mich in diesem Video mit diesem kontrovers diskutierten Thema. Was mich besonders verwundert hat bei meiner Recherche dazu: es gibt gar keine Datengrundlagen bzw. Studien, die eine Gefährlichkeit der Tattoo-Farben / Pigmente nachweislich belegen. Die Begründung der EU für das Verbot: die Substanzen sind nicht ausreichend erforscht und daher zu verbieten... Ernsthaft?? Prospektive Untersuchungen am Menschen existieren überhaupt nicht. In der Literatur habe ich nicht einen Fall gefunden, bei dem ein Mensch, der sich tätowieren ließ, nachweislich durch die in den bis vor wenigen Tagen noch zugelassenen Tattoo-Farben schwer in seiner Gesundheit geschädigt wurde. Aber Achtung: ich bin Rechtsmediziner und meine Sichtweise betrachtet deshalb immer den worst case und damit einen tödlichen Ausgang. Natürlich sind z.T. auch schwere, allergische Hautreaktionen auf Tattoos in der medizinischen Literatur beschrieben worden und natürlich besteht potentiell immer ein Infektionsrisiko mit bakteriellen oder viralen Erregern, aber das ist eine Frage der Hygiene und Sterilität der eingesetzten Tätowier-Nadeln oder ob die Tinte mit Bakterien oder Viren verunreinigt ist (was normalerweise nicht und schon gar nicht in den deutschen, nach strengen Hygieneregeln arbeitenden Tätowierstudios vorkommt) und hat nichts – rein gar nichts !! – mit den Bestandteilen oder der chemischen Zusammensetzung der Tattoo-Farbe zu tun. Noch nie ist nachweislich ein Mensch als Folge einer Tätowierung z.B. an Krebs erkrankt und auch eine tödliche Schwermetallvergiftung als Folge von Chrom, Nickel, Kupfer und anderen in den Tattoo-Tinten enthaltenen Schwermetallen konnte noch niemals belegt werden. #tattoo #tattoos #tattooinkspiration #tattooideas #tattoogirl #tattoogirls #tattooboy #tattooboys #tattooart #tattooartist #tattoodesingn #savethepigments #ink #inkedgirl #inked #inkedgirls #inkedboy #tattoopigments

EU-Farbverbot: Tattoostudios sehen schwarz - Wien heute vom 04.01.2022 um 19:00 Uhr Tätowierer sehen schwarz: Laut einer neuen EU-Verordnung sind seit Dienstag viele Farben für Tattoos verboten – aus gesundheitlichen Gründen. Die rund 100 Studiobetreiber der Stadt verlieren auf einen Schlag zwei Drittel der bisher angebotenen Farbpalette. Die Verzweiflung ist groß.

😡So Heute um 0:00 ⏰ endet die Übergangsfrist der REACH-Verordnung.
Ab Morgen 04.01.2022 dürfen nur noch REACH-Konforme Tätowier-Mittel verwendet werden.
Wie bereits vermutet gibt es sehr wenige REACH-Konforme Tätowier-Mittel am Markt.
Viele Ankündigungen der Hersteller sind wie befürchtet vorerst noch nicht eingetreten.

Dieses Jahr beginnt sehr Schwarz & Grau für eine gesamte Industrie der während einer Weltweiten Pandemie das Werkzeug auf Grund purer Vermutung entzogen wird.
Obwohl ein Rechtsgutachten unsere Bedenken zu dieser Unternehmerfeindlichen Verordnung bestätigt fährt die EU-Kommission ihren harten Weg fort.


Im selben Atemzug aber über eine Klimafreundliche Atom Energie nachzudenken. Die Entscheidungen der EU-Kommission werden immer Kurioser.
Na aber wenigsten hier spricht sich die Österreichische Politik dagegen aus und überlegt sogar dagegen Rechtliche Schritte vorzunehmen.

Anscheinend sind ca. 200.000 Unternehmer in der EU und 175.000 Unterstützer der Petition Save the Pigments nicht populär genug um hier aufzustehen.

Although a legal opinion confirms our concerns about this anti-business regulation, the EU Commission continues on its hard path.
In the same breath, however, it is not thinking about climate-friendly nuclear energy. The decisions of the EU Commission are becoming more and more curious.
Well, at least here the Austrian politicians are speaking out against it and are even considering taking legal steps against it.
Apparently, about 200,000 entrepreneurs in the EU and 175,000 supporters of the Save the Pigments petition are not popular enough to stand.
