Some of the stars looked like snowflakes!
We had fun at Playgroup with our older friends! We would love for you to join us! Playgroup is on Fridays from 9am to 10.30am.
Today we enjoyed our Feast day - celebrating the Nativity of John the Baptist. We went to Mass, celebrated Mrs Ball having 30 years of service, enjoyed sausage sizzle for lunch and lunch for the staff! A BIG thank you to our parent volunteers (one of who isn't pictured!) who cooked and distributed many sausages!
Last week our Year One's were the first to test out our new oval! It is wonderful to have more green space!
Today we celebrate the Nativity of St John the Baptist our patron saint!
The P&F had some bottles of water that were past their expiry date. The Justice and Mission Leaders, Rayna and Max, went around the school and watered the plants in the school with expired water. The bottles will be recycled, for 10 cents a bottle. By Harvey & Mitchell (News and Communications Leaders)
In science, the Year 4's have been learning about "Materials" and what they are used for. The students had to design something to keep an egg safe in a container when it was dropped from the balcony. Many of their eggs survived!
Our Year 2T class have been learning about the colour wheel in art! They learnt about primary and secondary colours through painting the colour wheel by mixing colours together.
The Year 3 classes have continued their learning about the three states of matter and today they combined Bicarb Soda and Vinegar to create gas that filled up the zip-loc bag and made it explode!
Today we wished our volunteer Bob a Happy "0" Birthday! Bob works in our garden on a Monday growing lots of lovely vegetables for us to use in our Healthy Canteen!
It's National Vegemite Day! Did you also know that Vegemite is 101 years old this year? How do you like your vegemite?
In Japan, people celebrate the Star Festival in July. So, today, we made origami stars. Usually, origami doesn't need scissors but not in this case! We enjoyed folding and cutting to make square papers into the star shaped papers.
Our Year 3's have been learning about liquids and solids in science - they were melting chocolate and putting it into chocolate moulds!
Today we celebrate King Charles III birthday! Even though it is not his actual birthday - that is celebrated on 14 November!
Today is World Oceans Day. The oceans unite us and summon us to work together. As His Holiness noted in Laudato Si’, “everything is interconnected”.
Angus from 4W is competing in the National Little League Championships in Sydney.
The Year 4W class had a little break from learning to watch a bit of Angus' game live on Baseball Plus! His team, The Adelaide Rays, won the game in a mercy rule 10-0.
Angus' class mates were so excited to see him get safely onto first base and cheer him on to the win! We wish him and his team well for the remainder of the tournament!
During playful learning in 2T the children had free choice to explore their own activity. They drew pictures, collaborated with a friend, played a game where they took turns and practised counting, made 3D models and some researched information about the solar system. The classroom chatter is wonderful to see.
Today was a great day for the Parents & Friends Hot Chip Day!! Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers for picking them up and distributing them!
The Year 2s are learning about using arrays to help them understand multiplication. They were challenged to create an array city and write down the number sentence that relates to the array. They loved using different colours to be fun and creative with maths!
This week was the second week of our golf clinic. The Year 5's were learning the skill of aiming with a golf ball to reach a certain point.
Our Year 6 students have been practising for the SACPSSA Basketball carnival next week. A big thank you to Kym who is Elliot's (Yr 6) grandfather who taught them some basketball skills.
