Sacred Heart College
Sacred Heart College is a Catholic co-educational day and boarding College for Years 7 to 12
Sacred Heart College empowers young people to remain true to their Marist values as they bravely and compassionately respond to the world around them. Advanced facilities, opportunistic programs, holistic well-being and learning strategies inspire our students to discover their journey in life beyond the classroom and allow them to embrace a community connected by courage, a love of learning and service to others.
The Champagnat 90’s Arts Night was a vibrant and creative evening, showcasing our students’ artistic achievements across The Arts.
The Marist Hall was transformed into a stage, where our Courageous Hearts put their learning and artistic talent on show for all to see, creating memorable moments that will resonate for years to come.
Well done, Hearts! 💙

Congratulations to our Year 11 Design students, whose artworks have been selected by the Australian Migrant Resource Centre for inclusion in the 2024 SA Refugee Week Youth Poster Awards Exhibition!
Grace, Lola, Jess, Tess and Domenico’s posters were handpicked from a pool of 340 entries, which is a testament to their creativity, dedication, and commitment to raising awareness about refugee issues.
The exhibition runs until Sunday 21 July in the Children’s ArtSpace Gallery at the Adelaide Festival Centre, and we encourage the Hearts community to visit the exhibition and support these talented young artists in their efforts to raise awareness about refugee issues.
The Year 12 Formal is one of the most anticipated events of the year as our students complete their final year of schooling. Dressed to impress, the Class of 2024 gathered at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and enjoyed an unforgettable evening at the with their friends 💙

Well done to our Arch D Leaders who recently participated in the Arch D Radio & Podcasting Leaders Day at the Catholic Education South Australia Office 🎧💙
The event was an amazing opportunity for our students to meet and collaborate with like-minded podcasters from other Catholic schools. In small teams, the students worked together to write and record unique stories as engaging podcasts, and had the opportunity to learn from the expertise of industry professionals like Laura 'Loz' O'Callaghan and Tom Basso, a former Arch D scholar and producer, both from Triple M.

With his sights firmly set on becoming an Olympian, Sacred Heart old scholar Jesse Moore's (SHOC '20) dream is about to come true after being selected to represent Australia in the Men's Artistic Gymnastics competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics! 💚💛
Following a full recovery from a shoulder injury, Jesse's persistence and determination saw him win his 2nd all around senior title at the Australian Championships on the Gold Coast in early May. He was then selected to compete at the 2024 Oceania Intercontinental Championships in Auckland - a chance to claim a place at the Paris Olympics. Competing against six of the best all-around gymnasts across Australia and New Zealand, he was able to hang on to an early lead he’d built up across the first 5 apparatus, winning the competition and the coveted Olympic quota spot.
Jesse is the first ever South Australian male artistic gymnast to be selected for the Olympics, and will be joining Australia’s largest ever Olympic gymnastics team.
Congratulations, Jesse! The Hearts community is right behind you! 💙
Congratulations to our Marist Netball team who won the 27th Marist Netball Carnival hosted by St Patrick's Marist College in NSW!
The team went through the 3 day carnival undefeated, winning the grand final against St John's College, Woodlawn, 35-15.
From the very first whistle, all 11 players represented the College with pride, showing their Love of Work on the court, and immense Family Spirit as a team.
Well done to all players and coaches involved, and a special congratulations to Kelis, Chloe, Sophie, Rachel, Mia and Brooke who were selected for the All Australian team. Go Hearts! 💙
Congratulations to our Year 10, Stage 1 and Stage 2 dance students on a spectacular performance at the Senior Dance Night!
Through breathtaking class dances and inspiring student compositions, your dedication and passion for dance were evident to all watching. Bravo!
On June 6th every year, we celebrate the Feast Day of St Marcellin Champagnat, our Founder and the Patron Saint of Education and Teachers.
At the Feast Day masses, the Hearts Community had the opportunity to reflect on the privilege it is to be a part of the global Marist family, as we commissioned and blessed the 28 Year 11 students and 6 staff members heading off on the Immersion trips to Fiji and the Philippines later in the year.
Our College Captains, Tom and Piper, presented a gift to the Brothers - a tree, representing stability and growth, made up of 340 blue and blue fingerprints, to represent their combined 340 years of service to the brotherhood. We give thanks to the Brothers for the on-going support, presence and wisdom they share with the Hearts Community.
By the example of Saint Marcellin who had a passion for God and compassion for people, may we be inspired to live our lives in the way of Mary, with our gaze upon Jesus and our hearts full of justice, love and mercy 💙
Best of luck to our Marist Netball team who have landed in NSW and are set for a big few days at the 27th Marist Netball Carnival hosted by St Patrick's Marist College. Go Hearts! 💙
For Reconciliation Round this year, the First’s team uniforms for football, netball and basketball were designed by Year 12 student, Bonnie Dingaman.
The design is all about teamwork. Just like ants, a team works together as one to get what they need, and to get the job done. The design on the back of the guernsey represents players coming together as one before and after a game.
Thank you, Bonnie, for your hard work and dedication in creating such a meaningful design for our Hearts athletes to wear with pride 💙
The latest edition of the Blue & Blue magazine is now available at www.shc.sa.edu.au/community/foundation/blueandblue 💙
Congratulations to all involved in the 2024 Immanuel College x Sacred Heart College Pre-Season Cup!
In another fantastic two day event, our female athletes showcased incredible talent and determination across football, soccer, and netball, with a string of victories and some closely contested matches that kept everyone on their toes.
The Pre-Season Cup provides a great opportunity to build momentum ahead of the 2024 winter season, and we're excited to see our teams continue to grow and improve in the coming months.

Following a call to adventure, eight Marcellin students took part in Operation Flinders, an 8 day exercise that takes students over 650km to Yankaninna Station in the Northern Flinders Rangers.
Carrying backpacks that weighed approximately 15kgs, the students walked over 75kms, slept in “hutchies”, cooked meals over a fire and conquered a number of peaks on the property including Mount Rose and Yudlamoora. The students had the opportunity to learn about Adnyamathanha culture, participated in a high ropes course, and took part in team building activities.
With every step, the Operation Flinders team formed connections, developed resilience and found purpose while building their optimism, belonging, hope and social and emotional wellbeing. Courageous Hearts! 💙

Today, June 6, marks the Feast of St Marcellin Champagnat, the Founder of the Marist Brothers, and the Patron Saint of Education and Teachers.
Over the College’s 127 year history, we continue the legacy of St Marcellin, and honour him in a number of ways. In 1941, a statue of St Marcellin was added onto the southern wing of the new school block, and in 2012 a lifesize bronze statue in Walter Park, Marcellin Campus. Both depicting Champagnat with a hand gently outstretched, offering hope and compassion.
We have embraced National Reconciliation Week at Sacred Heart and its theme for 2024, ‘Now More than Ever’, which serves as a reminder to us all, that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.
Both campuses hosted special Reconciliation Week assemblies featuring a Welcome to Country from John Lochowiak, a Pitjantjatjara and Kaurna man, chairperson of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council, former parent and dear friend of Sacred Heart College. We also enjoyed a dance performance from DUSTY FEET MOB, an Aboriginal dance group that builds connection to culture, community and country through dance and song. We also thank Crystal Edwards, Year 12 Aboriginal Program Captain, for her courage in sharing her reflections on this year’s NRW theme with the Hearts Community.
Congratulations to our Year 10 and 11 Music and VET students who courageously took to the stage solo at the Marcellin Music Soiree!
From breathtaking vocals to mesmerizing instrumentals, each solo performance showcased the amazing talent and hard work of our young musicians. Bravo! 💙

Today marks 80 days left of formal schooling for our Class of 2024! 🥳
Our Year 12s have officially reached the halfway point of their classes, with only 80 school days to go before they begin SWOT VAC and exams.
To our Class of 2024, as you approach the final stretch, we celebrate the dedication, resilience, and hard work each and every one of you have shown throughout your year 12 journey. These next 80 days are crucial as you prepare for exams, final projects, and the exciting next steps in your academic and professional futures. Remember, every effort you put in now will pave the way for your success. Courageous Hearts! 💙

Congratulations to our Hearts Hydrogen Team who competed in the H2 Grand Prix Race Day at Findon High School.
Competing against 18 teams, the HHR Team won 1st place for the Fastest Pit Stop at 28 seconds, and came in equal 7th place overall. A fantastic result!
The hydrogen fuel cell-powered, remote-controlled car had enough energy to complete 3 hours and 59 minutes of the 4 hour race, which totaled 259 laps.
Thank you to the Hearts Hydrogen Sponsors, Australian Gas Infrastructure Group, Turtle Beach, Network Optix, GRG Engineers and Sacred Heart College.
40 students from across the college are taking part in the 2024 Pedal Prix season, and competed in Race 2 at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, Tailem Bend over the weekend.
A crowd of over 4,500 watched as the teams took to the 2.8km track for the 6 hour race.
The Bend has its own ‘crash corner’, a tight hairpin that saw a number of trikes roll over with riders on the very first lap! After the initial nerves wore off, our teams settled into racing and performed admirably. Well done Hearts! 💙
