Go South Australia!
South Australia continues to come alive!
Another new major announcement will undoubtedly make South Australia a must-see destination for Sprint Car fans with the awarding of the 2026 Australian Sprintcar Championship to Mt Gambier’s Borderline Speedway, to be held on Friday January 30 and Saturday January 31, 2026.
Fresh off last week’s launch of the Adelaide 500 event that has all of the sport buzzing, this latest major event continues a massive growth period of Sprint Car Racing for the Festival state.
A unique slice of Australian Sprintcar Championship history will be made as for the first time since 1971 the same state will host the ASC for consecutive years!
Borderline Speedway last hosted the Australian Sprintcar Championship in 2018 which saw Kerry Madsen narrowly win over James McFadden with Matt Egel in 3rd.
With South Australia benefiting by having a border with 4 states and 1 territory it is ideally placed geographically to expect an influx of fans from across the country.
After the successful relaunch of the iconic “Masters” event at Murray Bridge Speedway in March this year, the calendar of events that is taking shape from November onwards, with more to be announced soon, is already a seriously impressive one. 👀⬇️

Tech Tuesday.....
Donny Schatz explains how Sprintcar wings work.
Very informative.
Donny Schatz Talks Sprint Car Wings - Tech Tuesday | Mobil 1 The Grid The first thing that stands out about any sprint car is the huge wing which sits atop the car. 10-time World of Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz talks us throug...
Tech facts.... What are Taylormade racewings made of?
Aluminium of course, but..... not just any old Aluminium.
We use 6061 T6 which has special properties and is extremely durable.
Here for the technically minded are the specifications.
This is one of our handcrafted sideboards under construction by the master technician Mark Taylor.
Another shipment of Taylormade Wings left the workshop on Friday.
Destination Wollongong.
Hmm, I wonder which team these are for?
Congratulations to Lachlan McHugh Racing on last nights championship winning drive.
Last nights feature was a case of “ we was robbed!”
Onwards and upwards to next season.
Good luck to the drivers using Taylormade Wings in this weekends Pro Sprint championship.
Especially the current Aus 1 Mark Caruso Motorsport.
We are proud that both 410 and 360 Australia 1 choose to use Taylormade wings.
Thank you.
Fun fact about Gambler sprint car chassis.
You got to love the wing!
Nice wing Lockie 😜
Aussie Sprint Car racing desperately needs high paying events that both the teams and fans buy into.
I’ve written before about how public holiday weekends can be a major boost for events.
Easter is obviously one of them.
IMO, the Easter period of Sprint Car racing has needed some sprucing up for a while now.
We have that now with what McCosker Gladstone Speedway is building.
They’re so serious about building their Harbour City Classic into a highly regarded event for years to come and they nailed so much of it for the first year.
2 day event.
4 classes total.
Sprint Car feature finished just after 9pm last night.
All racing completed before 10pm.
Fan zones.
Pit walks both prior to the show and during.
2-seater ride hype.
Fireworks.
Easter Bunny.
On site camping.
Ample advertising around town.
Huge team of volunteers.
Oh yeah, $10k & $20k to win shows for the teams, too.
How did it look on Clay-Per-View?
I know a lot of people will always consider the Vic/SA Easter Trail as the true Easter event but they’ll seriously need to reflect on whether it just continues to exist or builds for the future.
I think the current hype of the southern Easter trail is best reflected with even Marcus Dumesny deciding to head north.
I said it in our video during our October visit to Gladstone but the venue and the community it sits within is perfect for Sprint Car racing.
Like it or not, the Harbour City Classic is here to stay and will only get bigger.
I don’t say any of this to be disrespectful, either.
The sport needs to adapt to 2024.
Tradition alone doesn't cut it when these teams are so expensive to run.
On another note - How good was Lockie?
Oldfield got close as did Newton, and Corbet was on a charge late but Lockie dominated.
What an end to NQ7/A1 team's season as Lockie is off to the States this week until September.

Egel Wins The Ross Wright Memorial
Matt Egel secured his second straight Sprintcars SA Southern Shootout round victory after winning the 25-lap Pro 4X4 supported Ross Wright Memorial feature on Saturday during the opening night of the Australian Sprintcar Masters at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway. With Murray Bridge enduring weather conditions of over 40 degrees throughout the day the track conditions proved to be tough, but Egel survived to defeat an impressive Jy Corbet and Daniel Pestka, and in the process, he edged ahead of Luke Dillon in the overall series points.
“Tonight was all about putting us in a good position for the Masters tomorrow night. It’s a race I have won before and back when it was run a Speedway City it was one of the major races to win. The driver on that list is incredible and I am privileged to be on it, but I would love to win the first Masters here at Murray Bridge. We have a good package right now so I think we will have a pretty good shot” added Matt after the race.
Fourth place went to Luke Dillon, with Brock Hallett, Steven Caruso, Marcus Dumesny, Keke Falland, Mark Caruso and Joel Heinrich completing the top ten. By finishing inside the top ten these drivers have locked themselves into the dashes for the Australian Sprintcar Masters.
Two drivers who will have to race themselves into the main event tonight are Jock Goodyer and Lachlan McHugh, who crashed out of the main event while challenging Egel for the lead. As McHugh was negotiating lapped traffic, he spun in turn two and was collected by Goodyer, who was left with nowhere to go.
“I really feel for Jock and my team. I have left them a lot to do in these hot conditions to get us back out tomorrow” added Lachlan following the crash.
Despite not finishing Jock was still encouraged by his drive, having started from position 12. “I really think we had a good enough car to win tonight. The way we drove towards the front proved that we had a really good car. We will just put a new front end in this thing and go again tomorrow”.
Brendan Quinn, Chad Ely, Ryan Jones, Brody Appleby and Parker Scott completed the finishers.
Unfortunately, Jordyn Charge failed to start the main event after an engine failure.
