What a great day at Rowett Constructions Oval yesterday. Thanks to all the supporters that turned out to cheer on the Ressies and A Grade.
At the end of the day the results were halved.
In the first game of the day against Colonel Light Gardens the Ressies were fighting for a spot in a Preliminary Final. In what can only be described as blustery conditions the Ressies couldn't quite take advantage of the breeze in the first quarter and were behind at the break by 8 points. In the second quarter the Ressies fought hard to only let CLG to increase their lead to 12 points at the half time break. The third quarter saw the Ressies narrow the lead to just 4 points. Unfortunately the Ressies couldn't keep the momentum going to eventually go down by 15 points. Well done to the Ressies on a great season.
With a spot in the Grand Final and promotion back up to Div 4 on the line the A Grade started the game well against Colonel Light Gardens utilising the strong breeze to head into the quarter time break 20 points up. In a resilient second quarter against the breeze the A Grade managed to outscore CLG and head into the half time break 25 points up. After the half time break the boys came out and put together a great quarter to blow the margin out to 53 points. The last quarter was a dour affair with neither team scoring a goal and Mitcham eventually winning by 51 points.
The A Grade can now look forward to a weekend off before playing either Marion or CLG. Details to come.
Earlier today the Under 16 Girls capped off a great season with a convincing win against Golden Grove in the Grand Final to become Premiers! Well done girls and enjoy the celebrations.

Another weekend of Finals Fever beckons.
The grass has been mowed, twice, the lines freshly marked and the centre wicket rolled for tomorrow's big double header at Rowett Constructions Oval.
The day kicks off at 10.15am with PAC OC taking on Henley.
The first game of the double header sees the Ressies up against Colonel Light Gardens in a do or die semi final. Last time these two teams met there was less than two goals in it. It should be a cracker of a game.
Then the A Grade also take on Colonel Light Gardens in a clash that determines the first grand finalist. Over the season its one a piece with only a few goals between them in each game.
Any Mitcham Juniors attending tomorrow in their Hawks gear will receive a free sausage. Lets see a sea of blue and gold around the oval.
On Sunday, Father's Day, the U16 Girls are playing for Premiership glory against Golden Grove at Maughan Thiem Kia Stadium (Woodville Oval). Good luck girls.
Please come and support the teams over the weekend, all the players really appreciate it.

A huge week ahead for the club as we attempt to reach our first A Grade Grand Final in 16 years, while our B Grade fight for a Preliminary Final place.
Our Under 16 Girls take to the field in their Grand Final on Sunday out at Woodville Oval, while our Under 12s and Under 15s bow out with heads held high.
A few weeks to go in 2024, and plenty still to come for your Mitcham Hawks. Let's do this!
Go Hawks!
Yesterday saw the Reserves stay in the premiership hunt with a gutsy win against Greenacres at Greenacres. They now meet CLG at home next Saturday.
Unfortunately both our junior teams went down today. Firstly the Under 12s put up a great effort to only just lose to Angle Vale in their Grand Final. Congratulations boys on a great season.
The Under 15s started on fire against Salisbury North keeping them goalless in the first quarter of their Preliminary Final. Unfortunately they couldn't maintain their dominance and went down despite their best efforts. Again, congratulations boys on a great season in 2024.
Next Saturday sees the Reserves and A Grade both take on CLG at Rowett Constructions Oval. The A Grade are playing for a spot in the Grand Final and the Reserves to keep their premiership hopes alive. Let's get as many members, past players and juniors to the game in a sea of blue and gold to support the teams.
On Sunday the Under 16 Girls are playing off for premiership glory against Golden Grove. Time and location TBD.

Remembering 'The Legend', Ray Murray - https://mailchi.mp/83320065bf11/special-announcement-9920547
On 25 August 1994, Mitcham lost 'the Greatest Hawk of all' - Ray Murray.
Beginning in 1966, Ray played well in excess of 400 matches for his beloved Hawks. A premiership player, association medallist, leading goal scorer, captain, coach, mentor and friend to all who knew him, Ray's legacy at the Mitcham Football Club remains an integral part of our history.
Ray passed away at training 30 years ago today.
He remains deeply missed.
Another big finals weekend lays ahead for Mitcham.
Tomorrow the Ressies head out to LJ Lewis Reserve to take on Greenacres in a do or die Elimination Final.
Then on Sunday it is Grand Final Day for our Under 12s. Head out to Maughan Thiem Kia Stadium (Woodville Oval) to see them take on Angle Vale for the premiership. Good luck boys!
At an earlier time slot on Sunday the Under 15 Boys are taking on Salisbury North at Blair Athol Reserve for a spot in the Grand Final.
Good luck to all the teams. Please support them when and if you can over the weekend.

All the details from our fantastic Senior Women's Grand Final triumph, plus the rest of our sides as we press into finals season!
Carn you Hawks!
Some snaps from the Women's Grand Final.
What a day for Mitcham yesterday.
The Senior Women capped off a stellar season with victory in the Grand Final against local rivals Scotch OC. At half time there was nothing in it but then the Women stamped their authority on the game with excellent third quarter, or as many call it the premiership quarter. The last quarter was a dour affair but the Women prevailed to take home the choccies.
Back at Rowett Constructions Oval the C Grade played their last game of the season and unfortunately went down to finals bound Woodville South.
The Ressies then took on second placed Woodville South. The Ressies started on fire and took a four goal lead into half time. Woodville South then fought back to hit the lead but with about a minute to go Mitcham kicked the winning goal. The Ressies now take on Greenacres in an Elimination Final.
In the A Grade, both teams had something to play for. Mitcham the Minor Premiership and Woodville South a spot in the finals. At the final siren Mitcham prevailed and took out the Minor Premiership and a well deserved week off.
Look out during the week for next weekend's finals fixtures.
