Another recent project we have been involved in was this solar car park structure for in Altona, our brief was supply and install the structural steel.
All steel was top coated white prior to install saving the client time on site.

It’s been a hot minute since our last post 🔥
This last 12mths has put us through our paces. With over 400 jobs completed for the year it’s been exciting and busy as ever. Here is a small snippet of what we’ve been up to.

Sneak peak of one of the projects the workshop has produced this year. Our structural steel install is on track to be completed by the end of the month. We’ve enjoyed working alongside so many local companies to make this community project come to life.

This job included, Detailing, fabrication, and installation of a fuel canopy for another local client in wodonga.

Last job of the year here at AFM was on the maintenance side, breaking apart the HSS for Hyne timber at Tumbarumba as you can see spirits were high and why not when we were home a day early! Thanks too all our tradesmen, customers and suppliers for the year that has been. I hope you have all enjoyed it as much as us. From our team and family to yours Merry Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Year. Quick photo dump of some structural steelwork we supplied and installed a couple of months ago consisting of a bit over 8ton of trusses and beams, the largest truss was over 18m long once bolted together,
This job came with all the challenges, not only was it all bolting to existing steelwork it was on a second story and our only access was through a second storey single door, and to top it off the trusses had to have zero deflection once bolted together, the whole team done well to design, fabricate and install. All within the 3 week timeframe allowed
Fitted like a glove,a credit to all involved.

Bit of work on the maintenance side last month with this new pug mill auger supplied and installed for one of our customers, usually these are brought in from overseas, but with freight cost and lead times being huge at the moment it's good to get this work back on Australian soil.
Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come for our industry

We had some fun last week with this central Albury install, the tight access made this one tricky so we opted for a bigger crane, built the 12x6.5m structure on the ground and craned it over the house.
Love it when an idea like this comes off, made the job safer, quicker and easier.

We had a good run with this 8x30m extension installed and clad in just two days, fully designed, fabricated, painted and installed by our team.

Featuring rhs purlins so birds can’t nest or sit in them and golden yellow columns to try save them being hit by traffic, it’s come up a treat

The boys smashed out another big week last week to get these columns and curved rafters to the galvanisers. They will be coated and ready for install soon at the Cobram Woolworths

Being a relatively new company we are constantly being asked what do we do and what do we specialise in?
Well sometimes it's easier to show people what we do! These are photos of our workshop today and what jobs are going through at the moment.
Bay one had some farm implements going through, nice easy jig work.
Bay 2 is a D8 stick rake repair consisting of 3x new biz 80 teeth, new chocky block wear plates to protect the bottom edge and hardfacing to keep it looking good all season long.
Bay 3 is welding pipe columns on the rotator then onto some RHS columns.
Driveway has a ally tipper in for a new 6mm floor and crack repairs before rego next week, and our new apprentice cutting structural members for one of the tradesmen.
Bay 4 is the big fella doing what he does best pumping out structural items as quick as I can give them to him.
Then We’ve managed to slip some 6mm stainless pressings through our latest toy, being the press
So what do I say about what we do? We do everything!! If it's got to do with steel we do it! If it's too hard for someone else we do it! We love a challenge and our tradesmen are elite, they love where they work and what they do!!
As they say “Love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life” and here at Albury Fabrication & Maintenance we love everything to do with steel!!

Had a call a couple of weeks ago about a scraper that had snapped one of its arms, on closer inspection we could tell that they were both damaged beyond repair, so we did what we do best and made a new set, drawn, cut, fabricated and back on within a week and a half,
Thanks to all the other trades that helped out with this one, pleasure working with good people

Another good job by the boys to exceed the timeframe

The team has been putting the hours in over the last couple of weeks to complete this larger project, photos don't really do the scale of this one justice, 34t total made up from 406mm rolled pipe rafters, 460mm columns, 55mm thick base and connection plates all with full strength butt welds, resulting in 6 metres of 8mm fillet weld per connection, 20% of welds tested were tested with 100% pass, massive effort by the team to see another deadline exceeded

We received a call from one of our customers to help out with a first storey deck. We were more than happy to adjust our schedule and shuffle a few jobs around to meet the short timeframe and help them out. All of our decks are fully welded for a neater and stronger design. Balustrade handrails will be added soon to finish it off. The boys have done a great job and we are happy with how it’s all come together.
