Summer is well and truly here! Protect yourself this season with these tips to help you avoid getting caught out by the Aussie sun:

Slip on some sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible.

Slop on broad spectrum, water resistant SPF30 (or higher) sunscreen. Put it on 20 minutes before you go outdoors and every two hours afterwards. Sunscreen should never be used to extend the time you spend in the sun.

Slap on a hat – broad brim or legionnaire style to protect your face, head, neck and ears.

Seek shade.

Slide on some sunglasses – make sure they meet Australian Standards.

Have you had a skin check recently?

More than 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime. While wearing sunscreen and protective clothing can go a long way in helping us stay safe from the effects UV, it is still important to have regular skin checks due to Australia’s brutal sun.

It is recommended that you perform regular self-checks, and see a doctor once every 12 months for a full-body skin check.
