Flat Out Relaxed combines remedial massage and corrective exercise to improve performance and reduce
Flat Out Relaxed combines remedial massage and corrective exercise to improve performance and reduce pain caused from muscle imbalance. It is for the athlete, gardener, tradesman, weekend walker, office worker, mother and you. Massage and mobilisation techniques are used to release tension and lengthen over-active muscles. Then specific exercises, targeted at strengthening weak areas, lead on to improving movement patterns and developing pain-free movement.
Breathing some life into this page to hopefully stop from going under.
Like many others my world has been turned upside down. My work has disappeared and I'm paddling like crazy to stay afloat. I'm not complaining, I understand the health threat that faces us all. I have just had to rethink what I can offer. I'm letting you know that I have got the Online Training Centre up and running. I'll cut straight to the chase and go into more detail later.
2 new classes uploaded each week. That's around 2 hours of follow along active flexibility and mobility training every week.
Only $13.95 per month. That works out to around $1.50 per class.
Classes are broken down into bite sized pieces. If you are short on time then just do a 15 minute session OR link a few together for a longer workout.
Classes can include joint therapeutics, active flexibility techniques, soft tissue release and end-range strength training.
Take a look at the website https://www.integralmovement.xyz/online-training
I decided to set the membership subscription at $13.95 per month for a few reasons. I know my world has been turned upside down. My regular work is no longer there and many others are in the same situation. I hope to make these classes affordable to anyone who would like to access them while still providing a little for my family. I believe that my approach to mobility training really makes a difference. It helps ease pain and discomfort and improves range, control and performance - creating a body that is comfortable to live and allows you to do the things you would like. I also feel the intensity of the classes allows the mind to focus on the task at hand and move all other distractions to the side for a while. All of this is very important at the moment as we are moving less and weighed down with heavy thoughts.
While I am no great cameraman or producer the classes are easy to follow and are full of those mobility gems that you have come to know and love (or at least tolerate with a grimace) from the regular weekly classes. If you could, please share this with anyone and everyone through all the social media options available. It will help out my family and I and I am certain anyone who does sign up will get value well beyond the cost.

Here is some interesting research on the effects of sitting on children. Are we setting them up for heart trouble?http://mobile.nytimes.com/blogs/well/2015/09/23/sitting-is-bad-for-children-too/?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0&referer=https://m.facebook.com/
Sitting Is Bad for Children, Too After a single session of prolonged inactivity, young girls developed changes in their blood flow and arteries that, in grown-ups, would signal the start of serious cardiovascular problems.
Ever had some post treatment tenderness the day after a massage? Well, no one really knows what that is. Although, as it seems similar to the delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) often experienced a day or two after exercising, the current theory is that they are closley related. Unfortunately no one really knows what DOMS is either. But this article suggests its probably due to some overdue and needed movement between the muscle and its surrounding fascia and should be considered as a good signal from the body. https://theconversation.com/health-check-why-do-my-muscles-ache-the-day-after-exercise-41820?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Latest+from+The+Conversation+for+September+14+2015+-+3390&utm_content=Latest+from+The+Conversation+for+September+14+2015+-+3390+CID_ff5b0267a97d158ad1d7f3af95857447&utm_source=campaign_monitor_uk&utm_term=Health%20Check%20why%20do%20my%20muscles%20ache%20the%20day%20after%20exercise
Health Check: why do my muscles ache the day after exercise? It's normal to experience muscle pain after exercising if it's been a while since you were active or performed a certain movement.
A little mobility work / stability work / play time at home the other day. Then I heard a great quote today. "The more you bend the less likely you are to break".
Does your exercise encourage healthy movement or are you strengthening your dysfunction? No matter how healthy the program, if you have compensations in your movement patterns you could be placing unneeded stress on your body. While lifting heavier or going faster feels like improvement, increasing the load may just increase the potential for risk. As I continue to work with those people who have undergone a thorough movement screen and have implemented corrective movement strategies the most common feedback is an increased awareness. Knowing when they have achieved improved function and when they have gone beyond their current limits. No longer crashing aimlessly through workouts where function is concerned. The offer of a free movement screen (30 min) added on to a one hour massage is always available for anyone who wants to take it up.
Feeling it between the shoulder blades? Make sure you work through the chest to allow the shoulders enough space to return to a normal position.

Do you feel like you’re banging your head against a wall? You have a great stretch, feeling awesome straight afterwards only to wake up the next day as tight as ever. Stretching increases your range giving more mobility, but the body is super smart, it knows that you are not able to control yourself (stability) in this extra range, and to prevent an injury it shuts that movement straight down. The key to breaking this cycle is to make the most of the window of opportunity that stretching provides. This is where targeted corrective movement retrains the brain and body connection resulting in strength in full range and allowing you to maintain the gains you have made through stretching.
A little work in the roof the other day led to this. A good reminder on two points. One - take the opportunity to play whenever you can. And two - combining hand and feet movements (climbing, crawling, scrambling) are really good for you.
Are you thinking of switching to a standing work station? Or recently made the move? I haven't looked closely at everything in this package but I have lots of Katy Bowman's stuff. She has had huge influence on how our family thinks and moves. I'm sure there are plenty of good tips here.https://www.primalblueprint.com/dont-just-sit-there?affiliate=92
Don't Just Sit There! Developed by Katy Bowman, Don't Just Sit There is a multimedia online program that guides you through every facet of dynamic workstations and body ergonomics.
This week has seen several motivated people, determined to make positive changes, take up the offer of a free movement screen added on to a one hour massage. By conducting a thorough movement screen we have been able to identify areas of restricted mobility and others where stability is lacking. We have also observed movement patterns that work well and those that are displaying dysfunction. All of this allows for a more effective treatment plan and provides an accurate record which enables me to measure improvement over time. The spaces for these sessions are quickly filling over the next few weeks, so I encourage anyone wanting more freedom in their movement to make the most of this opportunity.
This is quality time in our lounge room. I often hear people blame their movement dysfunctions (and associated discomfort) on genetics. “My mums back was just the same”. As children we get so much more from those around us than just genetics. We mimic posture and learn movement patterns through watching, and bad habits can creep in. I think it’s pretty normal to put our kids well-being before our own. In the case of movement, making sure we have ourselves sorted can go a lot further than we realise.
