Another day at the office.
Beautiful Mo getting a little scratch prior to his treatment.
Todays equine clients were extremely well behaved even in the rain.

The Castlemaine Western Horse Club provided an exciting day of activities yesterday, including obstacle courses, trail rides, meeting new people, and networking opportunities. The highlight was witnessing Reo and Duffy enjoy their outing!

Had a spectacular day yesterday at the Bendigo Show.
It was fabulous to see one of my client horses out there, strutting her stuff and collecting led Championship ribbons everywhere she went.
Fantastic job Ember, you moved beautifully!!
Very proud of Reo too. He brought home a few ribbons himself.

Meet Spot!

First photo is Spot in the paddock, where she should be relaxed and comfortable. You can see in her face that she isn’t happy, her ears are back, muzzle is tight and her eyes aren’t soft.
The second photo is Spot today, towards the end of her treatment. Finally relaxing and letting her guard down. She is slowly starting to be more comfortable in her own body.

Today was Spot’s second treatment. Last week it took quite a while to earn Spot’s trust and gently lay hands on her.
Her owner has expressed how Spot doesn’t like to be brushed, handled on the ground and has attitude often. Spot does not shy away from trying to bite or kick, but she was clearly sending a message.

Last week Spot was a bit difficult to treat. Her head had to be held as nearly any time I touched her she tried to bite me and/or her handler. Her muscles were like concrete all over her body and her skin was very tight with tension.
Spot took a little while to come around to the treatment, but about 10 minutes in, we were starting to see some release. She was yawning and licking and chewing. She was still guarded, understandably so, as she held so much tension in her body. However, after taking our time and allowing Spot to relax into the release, the end of the treatment was very successful. She had a gentler eye and didn’t try to bite us because we were standing to close.

Today I visited Spot again. After talking to her owner, she had noticed a big change in Spot’s personality over the past week. She was more content to be around on the ground, didn’t try to bite or kick as much, and just seemed more relaxed with life.
Today’s treatment was successful! Spot wasn’t nearly as reactive as last week. She didn’t hesitate to let me know when I found a sore spot, but she was quick to let her guard down again and allow me to keep working.

Listen to your animals! Often their behaviour is explainable. I am glad to see the change myself.

Yesterday was very successful for one of my clients.
Although the main reason for the treatment was not for the upper back and shoulders, it is amazing what you come across in the body.
The upper back was very tight and the right scapular was jammed and raised. These photos were taken about 10 minutes apart. After some work on the upper back and scapular, the body released and allowed for the scapular to return to a more natural position.

Keeping our bodies balanced and relaxed is very beneficial. For more information, don’t hesiatate to contact me or make a booking.

Reo relaxing in the beautiful morning sun, after a treatment.

Our ride yesterday was a bit hit and miss and in the moment I dismissed it as behavioural due to it being 7am and lots of kangaroos around.
However, today I noticed that he was carrying his head higher when leaving the paddock and didn’t want me to brush him on the neck. This was extremely unusual and I was not at all surprised to find that his muscles and fascia were very stuck and tight, around his shoulders, up his neck and into his head.
Parts of his neck and around his shoulders had hollowed due to the restriction in the fascia. Post treatment, his muscles were filling in and allowing for a greater range in movement.

You are your animals advocate. If you notice their behaviour is different, don’t dismiss it, help them feel better again.

I love receiving feedback from people!
Below is Kevin, one of my canine case studies. I loved the review from Brendan and seeing the results I have gotten. Kev was a lot happier this week and was super keen for me to treat him.

Bookings will be open for Canine clients early February. Stay posted.

FYI Nikkita, you nailed it with Kev. He is even happier and more chill! Tail is sitting higher, waggier, and he gets up and down much more easily! You have definitely found your ‘thing’. - Brendan

What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy is a form of non invasive physical therapy using a minimalist approach to bodywork. Due to this minimalistic and non invasive approach, Bowen Therapy is ideal for all ages.

It is a dynamic fascial and muscular release, consisting of cross-fibre movements applied to specific muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (connective tissue). It helps improve blood flow, lymph movement/drainage and energy.

Bowen Therapy helps address a broad range of issues such as; joint pain, muscle issues, ongoing or intermittent pain.
Specific complaints that respond well to Bowen Therapy are:
- Lower, middle and upper back pain and stiffness.
- Neck pain and stiffness.
- Shoulder and arm problems, including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
- Headaches, migraines and dizziness.
- Sciatica, pain in groin, hip or buttock.
- Thigh, hamstring or knee problems.
- Lower leg, ankle, foot or toe issues.
- Lymph and circulatory problems.

It can also help alleviate asthma and other respiratory problems, plus colic in babies.

Bowen Therapy helps realign the body's muscular system, allowing you to feel great.
