"I was just driving around my local area, hunting, when I see a likely spot in the scrub off the side of the road with traces of human activity from days gone by. After a bit of searching with my MANTICORE metal detector and 15" coil, I find a bit of old campsite stuff like tent rings, cutlery, lantern pieces and buried glass. Then I come across a patch that begins to give up coins, one after the other, from the early 20th century. Pennies, half pennies, florins, sixpences and threepences, but mostly pennies, over 50 of them with 76 coins in all (so far).
I was struggling to understand the concentration of coins in such a small area until I plucked this little gem from the willing earth. It's a British penny from the year of 1930, until you flip it over, then it becomes a British penny from the year of 1937. I was flabbergasted, having just made the find of the century, until slowly the realisation set in. The chances of the royal mint making an error like that were absolutely nil. Suddenly it all made sense, I had unmasked a cheat from days of yore, and I was standing in the middle of a good old Aussie two up school. I could almost hear the voices of the past calling, "Come in spinner" and "throw us another beer mate".
The "cheat" coin is a very nice piece of early 20th century engineering that's held together perfectly over decades in the earth, and the join line is barely visible, but its there. The cheat must have been devastated when it became just another lost penny.
I only wish I could tell that man that it's now a much treasured piece of Australiana."

Adam L. recently shared an exciting update with Miners Den Australia.
Armed with his trusty SDC 2300 and new Avantree headphones, he set out on a Sunday morning in the Kangaroo Flat area. After finding plenty of lead, an hour of swinging finally paid off with a nice, soft target that revealed a shiny piece of gold!
After lunch, Adam moved to a new location where he had previously found a few bits of gold. Starting along the gully, his first target unearthed an old button, quickly followed by another piece of gold!
As he made his way back to the car, a loud signal that he thought was another lead shot turned out to be his third piece of shiny gold for the day. The total haul was 0.43g. YOU BEAUTY!

Jason H. recently shared an exciting update with Miners Den Australia.
During a weekend getaway to Mudgee, NSW, he had some spare time and decided to drive to Gulgong to try his luck. While driving through the bush, he spotted what looked like a dump site. Despite a slow start with lots of trash above and below the ground, he persevered.
Not long after, he came across a thumping signal and started to dig. To his disbelief, he unearthed a coin spill consisting of 2 florins and 2 sixpence.
This discovery spiked his excitement. Within a 2m radius around the plug, he found another coin spill of 2 wheat threepence, 2 separate silver coins, a pendant, and some shearer's clippers.
Using his Minelab EQUINOX 800 Metal Detector with the 11" coil, none of the targets were too deep, with a maximum depth of 150mm, and all were only a few steps from the car.
