- 161 wickets at an average of 15.46 and strike rate of 27.64
- 30 wickets in a season
- 20 wickets in 6 of 7 seasons

- Best bowling figures of 6/8
- 2 five wicket hauls

Among the unrecorded stats he has

- Sent countless "are you available this week" texts
- Chaired countless committee meetings

We all know he's going to play at least 100 more, and as many more after that it takes him to walk on to the pitch with Lachy.

But above all the personal accolades he's brought us all together playing the game that we love to play.

ROUND RESULT - GRAND FINAL

OCGCC 76 def by EMT 1/78

Rolling up to Scotch College (or more accurate Scotch entire village) the first XI were looking to win their first MCC grand final.

Winning the toss, Richo made the wise decision to bat, but it was one of the few wise decisions we made in the batting innings. Cecil fell early poking at a wide one, followed by Hari edging one through to the keeper. We found ourselves 1/4 and in a bit of strife. EMT was bowling on the spot and runs were extremely hard to come by. Reeve came in and by his own analysis was looking and feeling good, until the point that he unfortunately wasnt. Trafford showed how it could be done. Richo and Traff tried to channel some 19/20 form but Richo sound found himself caught behind to a bit of short rubbish. Mandy fell to a dubious non no-ball call (not the most egregious of the innings though) and from that point onwards wickets fell with regularity.

Not much to be said about the bowling innings. Sharpy bowled well without reward and the only real highlight was Ary knocking off the bails and waving ta-ta and farewell to their opener who quite embarrassingly tried to give a bit back.

Not the end of the season we would have liked but an impressive feat to get to the big dance.

SEMI FINAL RESULTS - SECOND XI

Footscray 8/182 (cc) def OCGCC 155

A bitter, disappointing end to an incredibly strong season. Perhaps a poor omen from the gods when disaster (and Burrows delivery) struck on Thursday.

Sent in to bowl on a wet outfield, towels were a-plenty and spirits were high. Things got off to a great start with Prem taking an early wicket with Guru following up the next over, dislodging the dangerous Blackman in similar fashion to last time the teams met. Another two quick wickets from Guru, including an incredible cutting delivery to dislodge the offstump bail had Footscray panicking at 4/17. Unfortunately Dixit senior must have absorbed some of his sons batting ability in some sort of unholy ritual as Footscray put on a big blasting 116 run partnership featuring some frankly outrageous maximos. After surviving an outfield drop, the dangerous dixit was disorineted by a dangerous dk delivery sent packing. Wickets fell with regularity at the other end while the young fella from Footscray put up an impressive 80.

Our innings got off to a shaky start, with Pella being ran out early (little did we know what was to come...). Crosby and DT stablised as Cros raced to a 50 but fell to an errant shot shortly after. DT stuck around for a bit until a ball absolutely folded him in half, just in time for Yanan to capture it on film. Eugene felt the pressure and also fell shortly after. Heals managed to stick around a while but some sharp fielding and slightly misjudged calls led to Attrish getting a diamond duck and DK being caught short in rapid succession. Losing 6/6 was unfortunately too much to come back from, as the Wellers fell short of the mark despite a valiant effort from Burrows.

Better luck next year I guess...

ROUND 13 RESULTS

FIRST XI 163 def by MCC 8/174
On a so dodgy you have to bowl around the wicket deck MCC made the decision to bat first. Wickets fell early to the twin towers but a Roly partnership with, I am assured the worst batsmen ever (how did he make 83 then...). A cheap cleanup of the tail featuring an incredible triple somersault, 3/4 turn cartwheel first of the season catch for Reeve had MCC concluding their innings on 174. Also Mark took no wickets, sorry Mark.

Richo made his mark early but paid the price for walking last week, being given out on a ball he insists he didn't hit, proving once and for all that no good deed goes unpunished. Reeve combined with Many-Maximos-Mandy to steady the middle overs but despite the best efforts of Sharpy to get the job done in the shortest amount of time possible, we werent able to get over the line.

SECOND XI 7/178 def* Footscray 7/286
*Footscray forfeit match due to ineligible player

A special pre-innings paragraph must be dedicated to Guru, who forgot his pants and shirt. Then when offered a pair by DK he rebuked the offer and asked if he should ask the team if they have a better fitting pair. Rest assured, we didn't let him do that, and he worse DKs spare.

Losing the toss the Wellers were sent in to bat, an excellent piece of captaincy saw the danger man from last game gone cheaply at short cover (featuring my first catch for the season, good things come in twos of course). Unfortunately while we were able to consistently take wickets, we were unable to get their Premier 1's batsmen, who was simple a class above. He slashed his way to 180, with us barely even getting close to getting close to having a chance of getting close to taking his wicket. Footscray finished their innings in a dominant position.

Pelle fell early, unfortunately leaving one that went on to take his offstump. Heals through a few cameos, proving that doing 45 bowling machine sessions with Reeve has paid off. DK and Burrows showed us how to sensibly bat at Footscray putting on a 70odd partnership. Guru played one of the most interesting and unconventional innings the club has ever seen, and narrowly missed running out the president.

16/02/2022

ROUND 12 RESULTS
"If you see a diseased deck, exit stage left"

FIRST XI 6/112 def Whitefriars 107
Back at the diseased deck, with a bits and pieces team the first XI were up against their strongest opponent of the season....the saturday scheduled match. Some hard yards from the selection team saw us kick off with some undiscovered talent as Ankur dibbled and dobbled his way to a wicket, while Reeve took two at the other end. The run rate was as equally low as the umpires respect for Gummers, who drew his ire with a comment from square leg. With a bit of grovelling the match continued, and despite our best effort to drop every single catch, Whitefriars fell for 107.

Cecil struggled to find the runs, while Richo at the other end reversed an umpires decision and walked having been given not out. Finally Porrett got to bat but it was a Jordi / Hari partnership that gave us some much needed stability. Beanz Meanz Heinz, but Jordi Meanz Runz. Some big hitting from Reeve showed us all how it should be down as we cruised to victory 6 down.

SECOND XI 7/162 def MCC 7/161 (cc)
In DTs customary captaincy against MCC game he lost yet another toss and we were sent in to bowl. Johnsy and DT started as off very tidily as our expected opening bowler managed to sleep through his alarm. Bhavil got the breakthrough when things were looking dire, followed by Mitch and Richo combining to take out Mr. "You've got something to say every ball dont you" (and that I do, especially when i've now gotten you out for 0, 1 and 49). The real highlight of the innings was when MCCs resident thespian came in to bat, only to have to insist it was his right to take a minute breather before a ball was bowled because he was tired. Probably all the gasbagging he did after every shot.

The batting started shakily, but the ship was righted by DT notching a great 50, who turned to us and raised the bat, as if to say, that's definitely 50 champs, while we were still trying to figure out exactly what he was on. Heals and Euge did their best to stay around but it was Richo who got us over the line belting 45 off 33 balls.

14/02/2022

ROUND 11 RESULTS
"It is easier to go down a (windy) hill than up, but the view is better from the top"

FIRST XI 1/142 def Essendon 139
Unfortunately the fans got the dates wrong, so the historic stands of windy hill were barren for Reeves 100th. Losing the toss the wellers were ordered in to the field. Wickets fell at regular intervals with Essendon never really being able to string together a partnership.

Essendon confusingly fielded not one, not two, not three, but FOUR groups of matching named players (BOWLERS NAME) but their confusing gambit was an abject failure as the wellers cruised to victory thanks to a strong start from Richo and a 77 run stand from Ary and Cecil.

SECOND XI 59 def by Melbourne High 121
Guru and Prem kicked us off to an incredible start, combining for 3/20 from 13. Some tidy middle over bowling from DK and Gummers saw us clean Melbourne high up for a very chase-able 121.

Unfortunately there were few positives from our batting innings, with our lowest score for the season with our highest partnership being 15. The second XIs 7 game winning steak coming to an abrupt end.

Photos from Old Camberwell Grammarians Cricket Club's post 05/02/2022

"The man who graduates today, stops learning tomorrow, is uneducated the day after" congrats on 100 game to the eternal student, the man, the myth, the legume, Alexander Reeve Weber.

They say cricket is an easy game, Len and Jeanine might say is quite a lucrative one. Nothing but respect for the hardest working man in cricket.

Here's to a hundred more games of calpyso cricket from our special little guy.

01/02/2022

ROUND 1 RESULTS

"They say no man ever plays the same Wilsons twice, for it is not the same Wilsons, and he is not the same man"

SECOND XI 7/159 (cc) def PEGS 99
A strong second XI side was sent in to bat and showed PEGS what its like to play a top of the table team. Heals and Cecil wore the shine off the ball, enduring one of the finest spells we've seen all season. Richo made his mark before drinks, but it was Gummers and Rick who blasted away through the middle overs putting up an 80 run stand punctuated by a maximo each (and the spirit of Crosby willing a drop or two along the way).

The bowling was strong from tip to tail with Sharpy and Johnsy keeping it tight from the start. Burrows, denied a run through by the umpire, went for 10 runs from his first 3 balls, then 1 from his next 33. Premith continued the good form but the star of the show were the slow bowlers, with DK and Gummers taking 5 between them. Highlights in the field include Ricks fielding in gully, fast as a Rapidash and as acrobatic as a Mankey and a PEGS fellow who after being BBQd and shouting and obscenity was told very sternly by the umpire to "never do that again"

25/01/2022

ROUND 10 RESULTS

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen

FIRST XI 162 def Old Trinity 142
A sweet home victory against a strong Trinity side. The batting innings was a one man show as the skip took the reigns and showed everyone how to play a heroic knock, scoring 74 of the 162 run total. Shoutout to Mark, Mandy and Aryaman who managed to hang around for a bit to support. The bowling, a real team effort with Mandy managing to snag 3 wickets including their dangerous opener. The real hero once again was Richo, who took 3 stumpings, 2 catches and was part of a run out.

SECOND XI 6/234 def Footscray 4/233 cc
Presented with a road so flat and white a boomer would order it at a cafe Footscray wisely chose to bat. Despite an early wicket to Rishi off an excellent Burrows catch their opened managed to blast his way to 125 and set a total of 233. Pelle bolted out of the gates with the quickest 22 he's ever made but a few wickets left it up to Eugene to stand up, and that he did. Euge belted 108 runs, and displayed the most determined, game winning attitude the Wellers have seen all season. DT supported him with a superb 50 (at one stage Eugene was on 99 while DT was on 49). Massive shoutout to Pella too, whoa acted as DTs runner from ball 1. Rory mopped up the winning runs as the stunned Footscray folk wondered how they let that one slip away. Just goes to show that you need to give 100%, not 70% to win a match.

22/01/2022

Congratulations to DT and Reeve, who both this week sit on 99 games.

DT will play his 100th in the second XI against Footscray this week. Congrats to the man who is only too happy to whip out one of his many 5fa balls any time you can get him down to the nets.

Reeve's 100th is unfortunately delayed due to COVID PROTOCOLS with an imposed isolation period due to being a close contact. Pre-emptive congrats to a man who has dedicated a lot to the club, and even more to Len and Jenane's kids college funds.

16/01/2022

ROUND 9 RESULTS
Double the fun

FIRST XI 1/86 def Whitefriars 84
The Wellers arrived to a pitch that could only really accurately be described as diseased, won the toss and took to the field. The fast bowling cartel of Markey, Sharp and Johns-Wickberg dominated from the start, with 5 wickets, 20 runs and about 19" 5' of twisted steel and s*x appeal between them. Naffdorft bowled well through the middle with the only thing working harder than the man himself was the handfuls of brylcreem in his now blonde locks. Batting was clinical with a strong performance from Richo who was supported well by both Reeve and Studdsy

SECOND XI 6/186 (cc) def Old Scotch 126
A rare bat-first innings for the second XI. Eugene and Crosby (who as a partnership have now been dropped 612 times) got off to a ripper start, before Crosby's hamstring did some ripping of its own. Aryaman steadied proceedings and was then followed by Reeve with a half ton, and Attrish with a solid 35. The opening bowling partnerships were economical with Old Scotch being kept to 50 odd at drinks. DK the pick of the bowlers, who barely bowled a bad ball for the day, but an all around performance saw 8 bowlers used with 4 of them taking 2 wickets. Special mention to Eugene who took the gloves and was involved in FIVE dismissals

21/12/2021

ROUND 8 RESULTS - Home town hero edition

FIRST XI dnb. drew Caulfield 6/86
In what has been self described as the most commanding decision of the season, Richo decided to send Caulfield in on a wet deck. The by now well established bowling duo of ARW and Nofffdrift started strong, combining for 3/22 from 15. Unfortunately match fell victim to the whims of mother nature and no result was had.

SECOND XI 5/145 def Geelong 5/142 (cc)
Another wet affair, with covers knocking some off their feet, while Eugene, to no avail, told one of their kids to 'just let go' as the covers dragged him along. Eventually the sun poked its head through and the immaculate drying conditions of Geelong blessed us with a full game. Pick of the bowlers was DK, who bowled the second over, and 4 more later in to the game for a miserly 15. The real hero of the day was our own Barwon Heads boy, Crosby, who smashed a 70 (evidently he knew the atmospheric conditions well, he just wishes he could play a 70 at the Barwon Heads links too)

*Special shoutout to Richo who eclipsed Crosby's 70 with a 71 in a cameo appearance for West Preston in their saturday league.

20/12/2021

ROUND 7 RESULTS - Retroactive Edition
Perfectly cooked snags and 2 wins in the bag

FIRST XI 5/93 def EMT 91
Mark (and it pains me to say) Reeve absolutely tore through EMT, bowling 16 overs between them for 7 wickets. A dominant performance that has Sharpy wondering if he still has a gig. A tough batting deck and sharp bowling from EMT had Richo and Traff working overtime for every run. Pick of the batters was Richo, while Mark came in and cleaned up. Big welcome to Premith with his first game for the club.

SECOND XI 1/171 def Caulfield 8/168
The second of a Caulfield double header, with no less than 4 Patels named for Caulfield was always going to be chaotic. The game begun with both the main and square leg umpires being provided by Caulfield as the umpire was an hour late. Great bowling from Johnsy and Guru snagged us a few wickets, but Caulfield ran away with the middle overs to set a strong target. A superb performance from Cecil who ended up carrying the bat, supported by Studdsy led us to defiant victory

20/12/2021

ROUND 6 RESULTS - Retroactive edition
Will the fist XI even get to play ten games this year?

FIRST XI - def Old Carey (Forfeit)

SECOND XI 3/113 def Caulfield 110
A feast or famine Caulfield batting lineup were left hungry after being skittled for 110. A complete team effort with the ball with DK, Gummers and Wombat all being rewarded with 3 well deserved wickets. Cecil and Eugene started well with the bat before we lost 3 wickets for less than 10 runs. Fortunately an impressive anchor effort from DT and a cameo from Attrish was able to get us over the line

29/11/2021

ROUND 5 Results
So nice, we had to win twice

FIRST XI 166 def Caulfield 151
First win of the seasons for the 1s and first 5-fa for Vebs (with only one of his wickets being assisted). Mark with some of his classic opening bowling to pick up two also. Good knocks for Aryaman and Reeve and Hari who got in to the 30s

SECOND XI 6-89 def Point Cook 88
A parsimonious bowling attack had Point Cook all out for 88. Strong performances all around with 2 wickets each to Gummers and Mitch. Sid led the way with the bat with contributions from Crosby, Lee and Tudor getting us over the line

24/11/2021

Round 4 Results
First XI - EMT 4/215 def OCGCC 111
A disappointing start to the season for the firsts EMT bought the bread and the OCGCC ducks were quacking. Solid contributions from Hari and Traff with the bat. Only other notable shoutout is to Masuri for protecting ARWs bonce from a stray one.

Second XI - OCGCC 8/185 def by Geelong 5/186
A brutal loss bookended by the Geelong #7 dobbing us for 3 maximos to win the game. Another standout performance from Attrish, who has been dominant so far. Unfortunately he is missing round 5 for a minor event (10 year wedding anniversary). Congrats to Harry for his first wickets too and Gumley for his tidy bowling

07/11/2021

Round 2 Results
First XI - Not match played due to washout
Second XI - Point Cook 7/149 def by OCGCC 5/150 (cc)

Standout performance from Attrish with both the bat and the ball, supported by a closing partnership between J Gumley and J Rosen and a solid contribution from A Crosby.

Go Wellers

As cricketers and fans of the sport, we know the bond Australia and India share with our beloved game. Fierce rivals on the field, but with huge respect for each other off the field.

As you'd know, Covid is running rampant in India right now and every day news comes through of unwanted records being set for new cases and deaths.

As a result, Rishabh Aggarwal (OCGCC committee member) and his family have started a charity raising funds to buy critical supplies for medical supplies in India. They have been able to purchase 10 oxygen concentrators and raised nearly $15k in 4-5 days already.

A GoFundMe page has been set up (https://gofund.me/af484058), as well as taking direct bank transfers. Please donate any amount you're able to. All money is going directly to where it's needed and not to be eaten in admin fees. Please share within your contacts and networks as well.

ROUND RESULT
2nd XI - Semi Final

Unfortunately, season 2020/21 comes to an end for the 2nd XI in the most disappointing manner. A washout. Unfortunately as the lower ranked team, and no reserve days on offer, we are knocked out and Caulfield Grammarains progress through to the GF by default.

A heartbreaking way for the season to end, but proud of the way the teams and club handled the season, after the challenges of covid.
