My latest blog post on stress is available now. If you want to learn more about the cycle and impacts of stress, go and give it a read.

As William James once said, “The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another”.

A phrase I often repeat to myself as a little reminder not to let things stress me out so much is “if it’s not going to matter in five years, don’t spend more than five minutes worrying about it”.

Keep an eye out over the coming weeks as I share some of my stress management techniques to help you take back control of your stress levels and ultimately your health 💞

Food colouring is a common toxin found in foods, which are often found in things like cakes, icing and drinks.

It is great to get a variety of colours into your daily meals, but it’s best if you stick to the natural colours like fruit & veg! 🌶🍊🍋🥦🍆🫐

We don’t realise just how many toxins are in the products we use and/or consume on a daily basis. These toxins can manifest in ways we wouldn’t associate with or assume are a result of the products we are using.

Do you find yourself sneezing while cleaning around the house? Do you get headaches or migraines when you use fragrances or perfumes?

Head over to my latest blog post to learn a bit more about toxins that can be found in products that you use frequently and the impacts it can have on you and your family.

These are just a few great options to help put some good bacteria back into your gut.

24/04/2022

With about 100 trillion gut bacteria, you want to make sure that your gut has a plentiful supply of good bacteria (with includes the bacteria that comes from the foods you eat) to support good gut health.

21/04/2022

Why is it so important to have good gut health?

If our gut is being overloaded with too many bad bacteria, it throws the gut out of balance and in turn prevents you from being able to digest your food properly. It is actually necessary to have a certain balance/ratio of good and bad bacteria in your gut.

The above graphic uses some common foods that people eat as an example to show the outcome for the gut if you aren’t eating a balanced diet and/or are eating high volumes of certain types of foods. As you can see in the example on the left, too much sugar results in an unhappy gut ☹️
Eating a balance of a wide variety of foods makes for a much happier gut ☺️

Please keep in mind - the foods used in this example are purely an example and are not a recommendation of certain foods to consume or not consume. Nutritional plans are tailored to each person for a reason, your gut may react differently to certain foods that another person’s may not. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you would like to work with me to create a tailored nutritional plan for yourself.

Do you know the signs/symptoms of how your body reacts to different foods?

Becoming more aware to the way your body reacts - think of things like bloating, migraines, digestive issues, skin reactions such as itching or rash, red eyes, sinus, aches and pains in your joints, acne - is a good way to start understanding what heals and agrees with your body and learning what is harming you.

Everyone will react differently to foods, so something that you might eat that harms you may be perfectly fine for someone else to eat. This works the same way in reverse so you might be fine to eat certain foods that actually cause issues for others.

It is because of this that it is so important to develop a nutritional plan that is individually tailored to your body.

One of my favourite ways to add some greens into my breakfast. You can’t go wrong with poached eggs, avocado & spinach 🥑👌🏼

Alternatively, if you are keen to do a deeper dive and want to learn what to do to help yourself and your family, I run a self paced course called Empowered Eating which is available through my website 😊

It’s so important to get your body moving each day, there are so many benefits in doing so, including reducing stress levels. It doesn’t always have to be a big workout or a high intensity exercise, even activities like yoga, going for a short walk, pilates or swimming are some great ways to get your body moving in a low intensity way.

What is your favourite way to move your body? Mine would be yoga 🧘🏼‍♀️

Another surprising place you will find toxins is in your food. This is why I always recommend whole/real foods and organic where possible to help reduce the number of toxins entering your body on a daily basis. Keep an eye out for my future blog posts as I’ll be discussing this in more detail soon.

28/03/2022

Toxins can have a much bigger impact on your health than most of us realise. I’ve just added a new blog post that goes more in depth about what toxins are, what sorts of products you’ll often find them in and how to start reducing your exposure to toxins. You can start with some easy swaps such as the products I’ve mentioned above.

Sometimes it can get overwhelming when we think about all the things we have to do to get our health back on track. I want to remind you though that it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Pick one thing to focus on for the upcoming week that will be your goal. So if your aim is to drink more water, just focus on achieving that each day this week. And then next week you can add another goal/focus on top of that. If we break it down into much smaller goals, it becomes a whole lot less overwhelming, and a whole lot easier to achieve. What’s your goal or focus this week?

25/03/2022

Do you struggle to drink enough water throughout the day? Not everyone loves drinking water, but it is so important for many reasons to make sure that you’re hydrating your body enough. If you find water a bit boring, you could try adding some slices of fruit to it to give it a bit of flavour. Some of my favourites are orange, lemon or cucumber 🍊🍋🥒

Hi there, and thanks so much for popping by my business page. I am a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and my practice is all about helping everyday people with their nutrition and supporting their journey to wellness. I initially started studying a Bachelor of Nutrition and after a while, realised that the nutrition degree was a one size fits all approach and I know from experience that we are all individuals and as such, we require different foods, approaches and strategies. The NTA has an amazing approach and one that realises that we are all bio-individual, in other words, what foods are beneficial for me, may not be for someone else. The Diploma I gained through studying with the Nutritional Therapy Association of Australia has taught me to start with the foundations first. We all need our foundations (Digestion, Blood Sugar Regulation, Fatty Acids, Mineral Balance and Hydration) to be working as optimally as possible to give our bodies the best chance in this modern world of fast food and fast lives.
