This was my old personal PC that I've recently upgraded from!

Built with a very powerful 8th Generation i5 8600 CPU 4.3Ghz on a Gigabyte z370M Gaming Motherboard!

The 8th Generation CPU is only 2 Generations old and is just as fast as the current Generation i5 CPU's.

- 128GB NVMe SSD drive! Now why is this important you ask? Well let me tell you! The NVMe SSD drives boast a very impressive 4X FASTER than standard SSD drives. And let me tell you, it lives up to it's claims! THIS SSD IS FAST!

- 2 x 500GB Hard drives. These are the old style mechanical drive that are perfect for storing your large data and games.

- 8GB DDR4 2400Mhz Memory (Easily upgraded but generally not required for most operations).

- 4GB GTX 750 TI Graphics card! Now this is the really important part of this gaming PC. This is not a tope of the line card but i can assure you that it is VERY capable graphics card, capable of an Average 60FPS in Fortnite at 1080P resolution!

I remember a few years ago, I upgraded my dads laptop from an old mechanical hard drive to a new SSD hard drive. He came to me and said “I don’t like it! My morning routine used to be to turn on the laptop, go make a coffee, come back and the laptop would be just about ready to use. Now I turn it on and I don’t even have time to stand up before it’s ready to go!”

The key message from this story is that even some of the oldest laptops or desktop computers can get a new lease on life with something as simple as a Solid State Drive upgrade!

Solid state drives can perform anywhere up to 40 TIMES FASTER THAN A MECHANICAL DRIVE!

SSD upgrades (which includes drive cloning so you don’t lose any files and programs) start as low as as $95 (for a 120gb SSD). If you need something a little bigger, then a 1TB SSD will set you back $205!

Considering the cost of even a midrange new laptop is around the $1000 mark and still won’t perform as good as a 10 year old laptop with an SSD, I know what I’d be doing!

What’s the latest over here at RCS?? Another fun adventure with a laptop that would work for a little while, then turn off... work for a little while... then turn off... Naturally i do all the basic diagnostics, check running temperature (laptops like to shutdown if they get too hot), but that was fine, check the hard drive and memory... no issues there... so why could it be...? Turns out, the battery was not only dead, but was failing in a way that even when connected to power, would cut the power out at random intervals! Well new battery and a SSD (because everyone should be running an SSD in 2020!) and we had another very happy customer! A 7 year old laptop given a whole new lease on life!

Had an interesting one today! Customer advised PC was failing to POST (boot up). I hooked it up to my test bench, everything worked fine! After some poking and prodding, turned out that the PC would fail to boot when connected to HIS monitor, and only when connected to HDMI1 on the TV! Connected to HDMI2 and it worked a treat! No more issues!

Seeing the internals of your custom build masterpiece is the standard for most gaming machines, but going engraving some detailed artwork or logo into the clear Acrylic side window is a whole next level!

Have a LCD Flat panel TV that’s not turning on anymore?

We are now repairing TV’s!

Some of the most common TV faults that we repair:

- “All of a sudden my TV turns on and I can hear sound but no picture”
- “We had a thunder storm and now my TV doesn’t have any lights or power”
- “My TV works with the buttons but the Remote doesn’t respond”

Note that If you’ve got a cracked screen on your TV, then the repair cost is normally in excess of the cost of a new replacement TV, but it also may be covered by your home and contents insurance policy! Be sure to give them a call to find out!
