Need another reason to tuck into a handful of macadamias 🤔? A new study has found eating these delicious nuts does not lead to weight gain.
In the trial, study participants ate their usual diet, but added macadamias (making up ~15% of their daily kilojoules, or between 35-59g/day) for 8 weeks, and had another 8 weeks without macadamia nuts.
The researchers found that including daily macadamias did not impact body weight, waist circumference, or percentage body fat.
How? Here are 3 reasons:
🌱 Macadamias are rich in protein and fibre, which both increase satiety (plus, the chewing involved in eating them activates signalling systems in the body that, in turn, reduce appetite).
🌱 Around 80% of the fat in macadamias is the heart-healthy MUFA type, which is thought to be better than saturated fatty acids at boosting the body’s metabolic rate.
🌱 The fibrous plant cell walls within nuts stop them from being completely digested by the body, which means not all the fat (and kilojoules) in nuts is absorbed.

This week, our Bundaberg factory honoured staff members who have been with Marquis for a decade. From its early days as Pacific Gold Macadamias to becoming part of the Marquis group and one of the world's largest macadamia processors, this transformation has required tremendous effort, particularly from our dedicated team.
Congratulations to Toni, Biggles, Tim, Karen, Kristy, and Trevor on their significant contributions from almost the very start. We appreciate your commitment and service.

Brace yourselves, nut-lovers! The celebrated American comedian Arj Barker is taking centre stage in his latest movie, "The Nut Farm."
Picture this: Brendan Brandon (Arj Barker), a cryptocurrency trader from San Francisco, unexpectedly inherits his late uncle's macadamia nut farm situated in the fictional Australian town of Cobweb. Coincidentally, this inheritance comes at a time when his investments take a nosedive. Intent on turning the farm into a source of quick income, Brendan ventures to Cobweb, only to encounter a significant caveat in the will: he must produce a harvest of at least 20 tons before he can consider selling the property. Well, how hard can it be? 😉
Now, guess what? They decided to grace our Lismore factory with their presence! That's right, they turned our Receivals Area into a star-studded set for a whole day. How cool is that? Move over Hollywood, we've got our own slice of fame right here in Northern Rivers!
👉 The Nut Farm is in cinemas now. Let us know if you are going to watch it.

Aussie nut heavyweight in line for top business gong Global macadamia heavyweight Marquis Macadamias, based near Lismore, is in line for a top international business gong.
Thanks for the feature, Bundaberg Today 😊
The India Australia Business & Community Alliance (IABCA) has announced the finalists for the 2024 IABCA Awards, which celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions to fostering the bilateral relationship between India and Australia. Marquis Marketing, the Sales and Marketing branch of Marquis Macadamias, has been nominated under the "IABCA Excellence in Trade & Investment” category.
This category specifically acknowledges organisations and projects that have played a pivotal role in generating substantial trade and investment opportunities between India and Australia.
With the enactment of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) in late 2022, Marquis identified India as a promising new market, making it its primary focus for 2023.
Following extensive research and fruitful discussions with local partners, we successfully solidified a strategic partnership with a major Indian Distributor. Our efforts culminated in September 2023, when we achieved a historic milestone with the first shipment of our premium macadamias to India under the new Trade Agreement. Our inaugural shipment arrived in India for the Australian Macadamia Festival, held from September 30 to October 14 in Mumbai, where Marquis Macadamias played a pivotal role as a key supplier.
Since then, we've been pleased to witness our premium nuts making their mark in select Indian stores. Winning a new market is undoubtedly a challenging feat, but we are confident that our small, nutrient-packed nuts will soon secure a permanent place in the hearts and pantries of Indian consumers.
The 2024 IABCA Awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, 15 August 2024, at The Great Hall, Parliament of Australia, Canberra. It promises to be a spectacular gala dinner where winners will be recognised for their exceptional contributions.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to India Australia Business and Community Alliance for the nomination and eagerly anticipate celebrating this recognition alongside fellow finalists in the upcoming August ceremony. Thank you, IABCA, for this honour, and here's to an unforgettable celebration of excellence.
What a joyful way to stay healthy and nourished! 😍

Flavorful is the only way to describe this creamy fennel and cabbage slaw with currants, fresh herbs and toasted macadamias. 🥬
Totally vegan–totally delicious!
Recipe:
Ingredients
1 fennel
1/4 white cabbage
A handful each of parsley, mint and dill, finely chopped
A handful of currants
6 tbs nutritional yeast
2 tbs olive oil
1 - 2 tbs white wine vinegar
Salt and pepper
A handful of toasted macadamias, chopped, plus extra to serve
Baby gem lettuce, leaves separated
Method
Finely shave the fennel and cabbage on a mandolin and combine in a large bowl.
Add the chopped herbs, currants, nutritional yeast, olive oil, white wine vinegar and stir well to combine. Allow to sit for a while so that the currants can soften. Stir again and check for seasoning. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir through the macadamias just before placing mixture in the lettuce cups. Sprinkle with extra macadamias to serve.
We hope your Holiday Season is filled with an abundance of happiness, peace and pure delight (and a delectable assortment of macadamias!) 😀
