BillyLids Therapy had the pleasure of presenting about our business and the support we offer our new graduates, alongside other amazing OT and allied health companies. A big thank you to Rosanna (Allied Health Manager, Occupational Therapist) and Robyn (Senior OT) for representing us so well!
We thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many passionate future therapists. Your enthusiasm and dedication to the field are truly inspiring!
Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible mums we are privileged to work alongside at BillyLids Therapy. We understand that Mother's Day isn't easy for everyone, especially those who have experienced loss or face complex circumstances. As therapists working with children with disabilities, we see firsthand the courage and dedication of mothers. Rachelle and I are spending this rainy Mother's Day cherishing moments with our kids, grateful for the joy they bring into our lives.
As Aprilās āAutism Awareness Monthā draws to a close, we had a touching chat with a mother raising a daughter with autism (ASD). She generously shared her heartfelt experiences. A big thanks to Rachelleās childhood friend, Mel, for your invaluable insights and support.

At BillyLids Therapy, our paediatric-focused occupational therapists spend every day helping children develop the skills they need to manage everyday activities more independently.
Today, our Brisbane-based Senior Occupational Therapist, Robyn, conducted an informative session for the Gold Coast team regarding the utilization of our sensory gym using a sensory integration frame of reference.
Sensory gyms are designed to provide a variety of sensory experiences to help children organise sensory input from their bodies and their environments, as a foundation for building higher level functional skills. The focus today was to challenge a childās motor planning, strength and postural control by integrating proprioceptive, visual and vestibular input in a play based way. Building these skills will serve as a foundation for children to build more sophisticated functional skills such as independence in self-care skills (like balancing to put on pants, or balancing while reaching to grab toilet paper on the toilet), or fine motor skills such as sitting upright at a desk and writing from left to right.
Robyn shared with the OT team some of her favorite play-based therapy activities using the suspension equipment in the sensory gym, such as the āsubmarine gameā and āmagic carpet rideā. We are looking forward to trying out these ideas with our kiddos in the coming weeks!

Welcome Sophie!
Sophie joined the BillyLids Therapy team in November 2023, bringing her experience of working with children as an Occupational Therapist in the private sector. Sophieās work experience has enabled her to gain an understanding of various disabilities and their impact on occupational participation, including Global Developmental Delay, Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Impairment and Hypermobility. She has a special interest in the development of play and plans to continue her training in Bimanual Therapy.
Sophie is committed to coaching caregivers to become experts themselves in supporting children to do the things they want, need or are expected to do in order to live meaningful lives. She is passionate about helping children to embrace their uniqueness and identify their strengths as a means to reach their occupational potential. Sophie values creating a therapeutic space that is both playful and enjoyable.
Outside of work, you can find Sophie spending time with her friends and family, at the beach, exercising and reading fiction books.
Happy world Occupational Therapy Day! This years theme for OT week is Unity through community. Rosanna and Lucia celebrated OT day today at OT Futures breakfast hosted by Bond University. It was a pleasure to connect with our local OT community and find out about changes to OT courses in our local area, and our own opportunities to support our future OTs.

Additionally, Lucia boasts five years of experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor, demonstrating her dedication to both meaningful occupation and safety.
As an OT, Lucia enjoys working in partnership with her clients, their caregivers, and healthcare team, to reach their goals - no matter the challenge! She is empathic and caring in her approach and enjoys discovering the unique interests and qualities of her clients.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Lucia enjoys soaking up the sun at the beach, going camping on weekends, and cherishing quality time with her feline companion, Penny.
We are so excited to share that BillyLids Newmarket officially opened itās doors today. We welcomed our first clients of the clinic, and have been working hard on getting our final decorations out to make the space feel like BillyLids. Over the next few weeks we are looking forward to introducing you to our newest team members and our space.
Gāday from the UQ careers fair. Be sure to come say hi if youāre passionate about paediatrics and early intervention. Fun fact, Rachelle and Rosie are both UQ alumni.
Well didnāt I get a surprise today when I checked todays date - itās the 5th of September and exactly a year to date since BillyLids opened itās doors on the Gold Coast. In that time, weāve been privileged to support some wonderful local families as well as kind and skilled clinicians. We have loved seeing the skills of our clients and colleagues grow in this time, which was always an important part of our vision for BillyLids Therapy. We have also connected with some of our local community through sponsorship of school and sporting events. Next month we will be opening the doors to our second clinic in Newmarket, Brisbane, and we canāt wait to see what the next twelve months brings!
Happy Fathers Day to all the supportive, loving and wonderful Dads we have the pleasure of working with at BillyLids. We hope you enjoy your day with your families.
