𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Our client, had two pumps that failed simultaneously due to a power surge, causing a fusion event.

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲: The insurer accepted the claim, but applied two policy excesses, one for each pump, totalling $2,000. This was contrary to the policy wording, which stated that only one excess would apply for any one event.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵: We challenged the insurer's decision and argued that the fusion of the two pumps was a single event, not two separate events. We provided evidence from the electrician's report and the manufacturer's warranty that showed that the pumps were connected to the same power source and that the failure was caused by a common factor.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: After several rounds of negotiation, our experienced Claims team managed to persuade the insurer to revise their position and apply only one excess of $1,000.

Great News! We recently navigated a challenging water damage claim for one of our valued clients. Here's a quick snapshot of what happened:

𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Our client's commercial strata property suffered water damage, leading to extensive repairs. Due to a portion of the property being uninhabitable, the tenants requested a rent reduction.

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲: The insurer insisted on a rental ledger showing reduced rent as proof before covering the claim. This posed a dilemma, as the tenants were still paying the full rent amount as landlord was waiting on the insurer to confirm the reduction before agree with the tenant. The insurer initially denied the claim, arguing there was 'no loss'. The crux of the issue was a misunderstanding by the claims manager. They did not grasp that we were awaiting their acknowledgment of the rental loss before reflecting it in the ledger. This insistence on the rental ledger prior to considering the claim further complicated the situation.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵: We engaged in discussions with the claims manager, but hit a roadblock. So, we escalated the matter to the insurer's Internal Dispute Resolution (IDR) team.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Within 24 hours, the IDR case manager recognised the misunderstanding and agreed to reimburse our client $11,500 for the lost rent!

𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲: Our client not only recovered their rent loss but also maintained a positive relationship with their tenants. This case underscores the importance of persistence and escalating issues when necessary to achieve the right outcomes for our clients.
