Your brand is dictated by every little element that is out for the world to see, it doesn't necessarily have to be marketing collateral!

I'm sure you're aware that Instagram is constantly adding and changing things!
They always have the user experience front of mind.
This coming update means if you don't like seeing what the algorithm recommends for you, don't like be recommended new accounts, you can choose a chronological feed of your follow.
This is how it used to be.
Favourites feed is for you to add all the accounts where you don't want to miss a thing!
It could be your holiday mode, or a feed you quickly check when you first jump on.
You have complete control over who you add to your favourites!
Keep with the home feed means you'll never run out of new content to see, you'll be shown what Instagram think you like seeing (based of your interactions), you'll be recommend content by people you don't already follow to help you discover and learn more.
For me I love the Home feed style.

If you could only choose one, what would it be?
This is a hard one, because it really depends on the stage and goals of your business.
For me, it would have to be content marketing, at-least initially, especially for early stage entrepreneurs.
My main reason for choosing that is because it's FREE and more genuine. You can drive more connection.
People don't like being 'sold' to, so when you can warm them up by sharing value when it's time to 'sell' it's much more welcomed.
Digital Marketing is to actively encourage someone to engage with you.
You specifically target them, but they may not have asked to be targeted, so their reaction to your brand may not always be a nice one!
While content marketing can make a lot of sense across the whole funnel, digital marketing is more of a natural fit as a retargeting/down funnel mechanism.
This is why it appears as though digital marketing is better at converting; but it’s merely because it’s attacking lower hanging fruits instead.
🤔So if you think about it like this.. 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦?

What I believe is while you can slowly step into promoting your content with digital marketing, it’s just wasting money to dive into digital marketing too early.

Digital Marketing is like a 🏎 flashy new race car, you think it will get your there faster, but it actually requires a lot of maintenance and costs a fortune.
Content Marketing is the 🚗 modest but reliable family car that gets you where you need to, safer, more sustainably, and more economically.

2021 taught us all a lot about everything really.. but here are the biggest 4 lesson I learnt in business!
I hired a coach right at the start of the year whom I had the entire year! I had just experienced a huge dip in work and decided to pivot slightly!
This came with huge growth I wasn't prepared for.
I was fully booked almost the entire year, meaning I couldn't help many others who I otherwise could have if I had other options for them.
I always had 3 main offers
Marketing Coaching
Social Media Management
& Wix Webdesign
All which need a lot of my time... the one resource we can't get more of right!
Anyway, I outsourced what I could, but it barely saved me much time at all.
I've been balancing letting go of complete control whilst still managing quality control.
I pride myself on the services I provide and it pains me too much to have something out of my control lessen the quality of my service.
The cycle of hire, train, fire is an exhausting time consuming cycle I want to avoid.
I even put on an internship in-replacement of interviews.
So with all I learnt I've started building out products I can sell. This means I can help more people without it taking my time.
It's a huge process to set up, so I don't have it ready to launch just yet.
But stay tuned! 🎁

I bet you don't jump on social media to be sold to!?
When we follow a business account we understand we will be sold to, however we don't want that to be all they give us or we will quickly unfollow.. Am. I. right!?
It's so important to always put yourself in your audience's shoes.
You need to earn your right to share your offer with them.
When you can warm them up by providing value and the benefits they're faaaarrrr more likely to get excited when you launch or promote something!
I cringe when I see businesses only sharing their products! It's essential to connect with your audience guys 😘

Whilst they are not the most important of your strategies, they really are the cherry on the cake with getting bonus visibility!
Your hashtags help the algorithms determine what your content is about and who it's for.
Hashtags are just like keywords in a search engine.
Your customers will be using and following certain hashtags that relate to them.
They will also search a hashtag if they're looking to discover a particular type of business or niche.
So give your content a chance to be found by people who don't already follow you and master your hashtag strategy!

When you think about marketing your products or service one of the first things you go to are the features and benefit right!?
Which are of course important for you to know and understand, however they're not the first thing you customers need to know and understand.
Leading with your F & B's does not help sell your product at all!
You should lead with what feelings and what result the customer will get by purchasing. 🔑

However it can be daunting, you need to build up your confidence, you need to pre plan what you're going to say and then present it how you want your audience to perceive you.
It's only natural to feel down when your number of 𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘴 are down.
When the number of 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘴 are down.
When the number of 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 are down.
So I wanted to share this reminder and words of encouragement with you.
Because the online sea of people is so large we often take for granted the number of people we are actually reaching with our message.

It's that time of year when we are thinking about our business plans for the new year.
But I'm guessing you probably haven't thought to include this...
Think of the relationships you have with friends.
The most special relationships are either forged over time or under situations of great stress, enjoyment or a lot of time together. 🥰
But in general relationships wither away when you don't keep seeing people in person. 🥀
I've experienced this far too often for my liking, and initially not despite my effort to keep the communication lines open and interact. But we all live busy lives, so if there isn't a need to communicate that drops off too doesn't it!
This is the same with business relationships. You need to find opportunities to interact with your clients. Keep in touch. Because if you don't 'see' them your competitors will.
You've heard me say it many times, you need to have the ᴋɴᴏᴡ, ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʀᴜꜱᴛ ꜰᴀᴄᴛᴏʀ for someone to buy from you.
And if they know and like someone else (who offers a similar thing) more than you, guess what... the sale is not yours my friend 😔

The time is here! it's a time when we are generally more socially busy, in real life. Not online.
When we are online, we're shopping!
Do you know what this means!? That's right!

Also with this being the time of year everyone $pend$ the most, a lot of the content is promotional.
Promotional content in general has a lower engagement rate!

We've all experienced these, and those who don't have the highest attention to detail are likely to have been sucked into every.single.one.
One of the things I've recognised that sets me apart from many other marketers is this.
😡I don't like any NEGATIVE form of persuasion. 😡
Here are some examples of what they look like on websites!
👿 It says FREE... but then you have to pay something.
👿 When there are multiple download buttons and you don't know which ones which.
👿 Confirm-shaming, i actually find funny sometimes and don't really take offence to this. But the theory of making your audience feel ashamed I really hate!
👿 When you click through and all you get is recommended add on after add on, or it automatically adds something on for you! (the airlines love this one!)
👿 When they ask for all your contacts! Umm no why!?
👿 The trick question, we all know we tick to opt in, we shouldn't have to tick to opt out!
👿 When you need to get out of a subscription or contract and they make it the most difficult thing in the world! Like come on, we all know it doesn't have to be this way!
👿 Fake FOMO, no Wish! I know you don't only have 4 of those left!
👿 The hidden costs - probably the one i have the strongest hatred for!

So I wanted to kick off with an update on all the new changes lately.
🔗 Link stickers are now available to everyone - not just those over 10k followers anymore! - This means you can now share clickable urls in your stories to make it easier for your audience!
👥 Collaborations - You can now invite a collaborator to join you on your reels!
🗓You can schedule and practice your lives!
That's right you can essential set up a calendar invite for when you will go live so more people can make it on!
📹Your IG TV's are now just videos and our audience get to watch 60 whole seconds, before needing to click keep watching. You'll also be able to trim, add filters, captions & people and location tagging.
™️There is now a branded content partnership feature, this allows influencers to easily brand their content to the sponsor they're promoting, but also for brands to find suitable influencers easier even coming with a partnership message alert so it doesn't get missed.
👜You can add product collections to your account and now easily tag them in your images, reels, videos or stories (let me know if you need a how-to on these I can send you the link)

1 year ago I was run off my feet as a busy VA.
Since then my business has continued to grow and transform.
I've been taking a break from daily posting to put my focus into setting my business up to allow for the growth I'm experiencing.
You see my little business grew so fast I couldn't keep up.
I am only 1 person, there is only so much I can do.
6 months ago I hired my first staff.
But that is no longer enough either.
