Project Update 🏗️

DC8 Studio was proud to attend the official SOD of Salvos Housing new social housing development in Toowoomba last Friday.

Over the last 3-4 years DC8 has collaborated on the design with the Salvos Housing team to create 23 x 1&2 Bed LHA Gold apartments within the well connected Railway PDA of Toowoomba. The homes are supported with northern communal kitchen and alfresco and a ground level community care space.

This project was also the first affordable/social housing project to utilise the Queensland State Governments MID process in conjunction with ongoing cooperation with the Toowoomba City Council.

We are excited to work with to bring these homes to life.

Fantastic that these carefully created spaces are open and being used.

Congratulations Stockland Halcyon Communities. It’s been a fantastic journey over the last 4 years collaborating on housing and urban design that is generous and considered for those who are lucky to become part of the Halcyon Community.

DC8 Studio in collaboration with the Redlands Shoreline team and , created and delivered a lively and welcoming Sales and Information suite within the upcoming community.

A strong and focused sales journey and narrative was built into the converted display home with an emphasis on gathering and breakout spaces throughout.

Horizon LLC Sales and Welcome Centre - Armstrong Creek Victoria

End of last year, in collaboration with and , DC8 Studio created a warm and inviting modular sales space for the Horizon Community. Orientating the building form to the natural light, passive breezes and existing heritage tree at entrance, the spaces have been designed to be flexible and transition to resident uses once the community has completed sales of homes.

The nearby display village and entry spaces are almost complete so keep an eye out for some more pics in the near future!!

Completed Project!
DC8 undertook the base build design, coordination and documentation of a new base build retail for at Flagstone. The DC8 team utilised their years of experience delivery ALDI stores to assist the Stockwell team with achieving a successful leasehold outcome.

Halcyon Rise Clubhouse takes full advantage of proximity to the Logan River and the uninterrupted openness it provides. Early design moves (see slide 2!) orientated the spaces to this long, calming view, creating a wonderful rural oasis within a thriving master planned community.

The DC8 Crew are proud to be celebrating tonight as he is elevated to Fellow at the Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Chapter annual Presidents Honours Dinner 2024.

Riccardo has been a valued mentor and champion to many of those in our industry over the course of his architectural career. He consistently approaches architecture and design with a focus on creating enduring spaces that have people and belonging at the centre.

Our QLD studio is all settled into our new space on Gotha Street. Looking forward to another year of meaningful collaboration and people focused design.

And now for something different on a Friday! Corb the DC8 Van is doing support work for the racers at the Queensland Raceway round of the ASBK - Australian Superbikes. Bring on the weekend. 🏁.

Final stages occurring out at Lendlease’s Shoreline SIC. The DC8 crew happily assembling furniture, signage going in & some key design elements…..still waiting for the piece de résistance before the official opening.

DC8 Studio is happy to share the expanding of our leadership team with some familiar faces.

Within the New South Wales Team Noa Tranter has moved into a Senior Associate role and Peter Petrou as Associate.

Further north in the Queensland team Leeann Wedlake and Genevieve Vu step into Senior Associate roles and Kara Kennedy as Associate.

As DC8 continues to grow, the recognition of the the ongoing leadership, commitment to people focused design and collaboration of the crew stepping up into senior roles is an exciting move forward for the studios.

The Sydney Studio is very excited to see their designs at Willowdale Terraces in Sydney’s South West have completely sold out.

The 2 and 3 bedroom townhomess feature carefully planned spaces and thoughtfully considered details to make living just beautiful and easy. The façade is a delicate interplay of the strong masonry base and the subtle vertical expressions of the lightweight cladding above. Masonry blade walls punctuate across both forms, referencing the rhythm of the blue gum, grey box and lemon scented gums endemic in the area.

We look forward to seeing these 35 townhomes completed and new residents enjoying their new homes.

10 years to go until the Olympics in Brisbane (start the clock). Here are some big and small ideas to showcase Brisbane to the world.

Fantastic to see ALDI Lismore reopen after a mammoth effort from the ALDI team in rebuilding the store after the devasting floods that battered the east coast of Australia. The Lismore community once again able to enjoy the ALDI 'Good Different' choice.

The rather striking Wallace Street Apartments designed In association with Battersby Chow Studio for United Asia Group is located in the trendy Melbourne suburb of Toorak.

The ground floor commercial space is anchored at the base of a dramatic 3 storey limestone portico that creates a striking presence along Wallace avenue, the green mass of edge planting softening the dramatic form.

Six full floor 3 bedroom apartments are located above the bespoke commercial space. A rooftop garden creates a stunning place to enjoy the skyline with its own terrace area and specialised kitchen.

A construction update of the Clubhouse Facilities at -Halcyon's Berwick Land Lease community. This continues at a rapid pace, and we are really enjoying seeing the design elements come to life on this project with quality build work by Lloyd Group.

The beautiful rammed earth wall made from locally sourced soil adds an impressive feeling of mass and presence to the sense of arrival. Once at the threshold, the thin steel shroud provides a fine sense of detail and elegance to the buildings. We are especially looking forward to seeing the pool area completed that will enhance the projects refined luxury feel.

The studio is still busy designing better places for people while reaching for the sky.

Located in West Melbourne near Victoria Markets and its namesake Flagstaff Gardens, United Asia Group's Flagstaff Hill Apartments is a joint venture from Battersby Chow Studio and DC8 Studio. Construction by Maxcon constructions continues to race along and is approaching the top of the apartment tower.

Enzo was on site early this morning helping the tidy up as we finish setting up a display apartment for our wonderful clients at the Salvation Army for their soon to be opened affordable housing project!

One of DC8 Studio's many exciting new Melbourne projects. This project is coming soon to a classic Melbournian street resplendant with Autumn colour (something we miss out in Queensland). Looking forward to see this beautiful single family home, for a special client of the studio come to life.

The studio designed a community facility just swimming in relaxed luxury for the Stockland Halcyon Rise Country Club. With a site elevated over 36 acres of open space and parkland, the 2000sqm+ Clubhouse delivers quality rich in detail with natural materials and textures that espouse craftsmanship. Construction is underway with completion high on the wish list of Rise Residents.

The two Clubhouse pavilions are connected by a central spine that on arrival opens to the infinity edged pool with panoramic 180-degree views. Framing the view, deep verandas running the length of the Clubhouse create a country estate feel to the project. Internally the communal spaces can be made smaller for more personal moments creating a truly flexible building format for the residents to enjoy.

Construction is progressing at Stockland-Halcyon Berwick of our thoughtfully designed and built community facilities.

The grand form of the entry is taking shape and you can already feel the Victorian country barn all grown up atmosphere . The Pool House will really be quite a special place when the pool is ready, and light fills the space.

The studio is proud to add this design to our many Land Lease lifestyle projects.

Great to see the last stages of Villaworld Homes by AVID Property Group Sphere by AVID Property Group Australia construction underway and the completed homes already sold out. The streetscape and homes are looking good with the planting and landscaping bringing a lovely soft edge to our architecture and the built form. The seventy-four attached and semi-detached townhomes range from 3 to 4 bedroom with front and rear loading maximising on their location in the development.

Some of the studio design team took their time to soak up the relaxed vibe at the recreation facility building with its feature Bottle Tree bursting through the portal creating an iconic space to gather in while relaxing for a swim.

Delicious morning sustenance from Darvella Patisserie - Bulimba brought the studio family together as it always does. Yummmmm......

The new Shoreline Sales Centre construction is well underway... we can't wait to see our latest sales display fitout come to life.
