Our AI & The Law Industry Panel was a huge success!
We’d like to extend our gratitude to all the industry guest from Ashurst, KordaMentha, ACS and Clyde & Co for sharing their industry wisdom with our members. The conversations that were had about the Future of Law were very enriching, and we cannot wait to continue our incredible partnerships.
We particularly want to thank our esteemed panelists: Josh, Gideon and Kata. It was invaluable have them share their knowledge on the subjects to all who attended. It is no understatement to say that everyone walked away with a greater insight into this complex intersection of two very different fields.
And finally, we thank all our members who attended the event. We cannot wait to see you at our next one!
Exciting News! Team LITS are the Winners of Disrupting Law QLD 2023!
This intense competition challenged participants to develop and pitch an AI-integrated solution for the legal industry within 54 short hours. Our exceptional LITS members – Nikhil Kaniyur, Vinesh Nangia and Sarah Norton – showcased strategic prowess in designing a practical solution that addressed real pain points experienced by legal professionals.
The proposed solution, “ClaimSwift,” is an AI Chatbot that can analyse a client’s initial claim and generate the necessary legal documentation. This product has the potential to dramatically increase efficiencies and client satisfaction in legal cases.
The journey was certainly not easy, and it would not have been possible without the guidance of our mentoring firm Hall & Wilcox, specifically Drew Castley, Michael Maconochie and Victor Yeo. Their industry expertise and unwavering support at every stage of the process shaped our solution into a practical tool that caters to real-world demands.
We also greatly appreciate the guidance from the roaming mentors, Winnie Li from Microsoft, Kimia Zarei and Joanne de Jesus from Queensland Young Lawyers, and Nate McDonald from ActiumAI Pty Ltd. They all enriched our understanding of real-world challenges and the potential AI can have in the legal industry.
Our gratitude extends to the esteemed panel of judges – Dr. David Millhouse, Sarah Ward, Andrea Perry-Petersen CF, Olaf Wrieden and Dugald Hamilton – for meticulously evaluating our solution. It is a privilege to have our innovation recognised by such highly regarded professionals, and we are honoured to be chosen as the winners out of all the amazing solutions pitched.
Finally, this event would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of The Legal Forecast QLD team, led by TLF QLD President Gideon Caturla. Their unparalleled commitment to fostering innovation in the legal sector and support throughout our preparation journey was incredible, and we cannot express our gratitude enough for hosting this phenomenal event.
Disrupting Law QLD 2023 was an experience like no other, and our remarkable achievement highlights our dedication to innovation and problem-solving in the legal sphere. We look forward to participating in future events to further spread the importance of innovation in the legal landscape.

Last Thursday, we were honoured to attend The Legal Forecast QLD Summer Speed Connect at Parliament House! It was an amazing night of networking and socialising with so many experienced legal professionals from a variety of different backgrounds. The Speed Connect format was thrilling and tested how well we could promote ourselves while asking every question we had in just 3 minutes. The collegial connections we've made are invaluable and we are so grateful for the opportunity to grow our own personal brand.
We would like to thank The Legal Forecast team who helped put this event together. We are so grateful to have a strong partnership with TLF and we look forward to the amazing opportunities this relationship will bring for both our organisations.
We would also like to thank all the legal professionals who spent their Thursday night helping us law students find our feet and answering our budding questions. The night would not have been the same without your wealth of knowledge and experience. We particularly thank Beau Foley and Simon Playford for giving amazing speeches with so many insightful tips.
