TYPES OF LOGOS…

There are around 7 types of logos, but I’ll be touching on just 4 of the main ones.

WORDMARKS -
A type of logo design that includes only the company name — no symbols, mascots, or badges. Wordmark logos are also called “logotypes,” and can include monogram variations for smaller spaces like social media profiles and favicons.

Unlike Combination Marks and Emblems, a Wordmark logo is not dependent on a picture to convey its message. A Wordmark is a font-based logo. Fonts can evoke emotion, without the use of pictures/icons/symbols, with the right font choice and a little professional design embellishment you can have a gorgeous Wordmark logo, that will draw in the preferred target market for your business.

MONOGRAMS / LETTERMARKS -
A monogram logo is a decorative design made up of a combination of one to three letters (traditionally three) to create a single symbol. Monogram logos are commonly used to represent the initials of a person or business.

COMBINATION MARKS (can also be a Mascot logo) -
A Combination Mark is a Wordmark and Monogram or Symbol/Picture combined into one logo. Some organizations, such as Coca-Cola or Google, focus exclusively on an eye-catching Wordmark. Others build their visual identity around a shape or image, like Apple (Pictorial Marks are not the best option for new businesses trying to gain brand recognition). Rather than relying exclusively on a word or an image to tell your audience everything they need to know about your business, a combination mark allows you to use both.

EMBLEMS -
Similar to Combination Mark logos, Emblem logos combine images with text. The difference is Emblem logos encapsulate their design features within a frame or border. Combination logos do not; think badges, seals and crests.

EVENT IDENTITY & COLLATERAL

South Burnett Regional Council hosted their first annual South Burnett LinkUp Business Breakfast, with guest star speaker Mark Bouris.

As a part of this project, it was my job to create the event brand identity and design all the collateral that goes along with it.

These included:
- Event Logo
- Event Brand (colours, support graphics, fonts etc.)
- Event Program Brochure
- Name Tags
- Pull Up Banners
- Eventbrite Banners
- Social Media Posts
- Event Save-the-Date
- Event Invitation

About the brand: The event was about linking businesses within South Burnett and getting everyone together to connect, inspire, and grow. The main objective of this year's event was to help businesses overcome the struggles of today, and share stories and resources to keep their businesses going.

The event was a huge success. I had the privilege of attending and hearing Mark Bouris tell his amazing motivational journey to become the successful businessman he is today. A truly inspiring and humble man!

CUSTOM SIGNAGE!

South Burnett Regional Council was granted some funding to plant trees in QEII Park, Murgon in honour of the late Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. SBRC named each tree after some of the significant community groups within Murgon.

Printing is done by the brilliant BL Custom Signs.

LOGOS, SUBMARKS & VARIATIONS...

What? You can have more than one variation of your logo???

YES, YOU CAN!

In today's world, you almost need different variations of your logo for different applications. One size doesn't fit all. Have you ever tried squeezing your logo into the tiny Facebook profile image circle? It doesn't always work.

We can have what we call a "Main/Primary" logo and this is used wherever possible, then you have a "Variant/Secondary" which is used in any scenario where the "Main/Primary" logo doesn't fit. In this example for Hopkin Electrical, their Primary logo is the stacked logo, then their Secondary is the horizontal version. Then there is a "Submark" These are great for Favicons, Facebook profile images, patterns on packaging, stickers etc. And then you have a "Wordmark" This is your business name and can often be a logo on its own also, but when situated beside your "Submark" it then becomes what we call a "combination logo" (which I'll do a separate post about).

These all become part of your BRAND, which is more than just a logo.
Branding is how the consumer perceives your business, and it's important to communicate the right message when creating a brand.

Wedding season is here… we kicked it off by celebrating with our two gorgeous friend’s and their little best man.

I had the honor of designing their beautiful wedding invitations, if I do say so myself. 🤭

I’m so glad I was able to bring their vision to life. It’s moments like these that make me so glad to be a designer.

I had so much fun creating this guy for the Logan Hockey. We worked closely with Logan City Council to ensure there weren’t any issues with copyright and whilst we could no longer use the iconic Logan City Council flower (used in the previous Logan Hockey Club logo), we were able to pay homage to it, using the three hockey balls. This allowed us to freshen up the design, whilst using consistent elements from the old logo, so it still remained identifiable.

VINTAGE TYPE MOTHER-LOAD!!
Casually tearing up the flooring, and find a stack of old news paper's dated back to the 50's.
It was used as insulation for this old Queenslander.
There are some beaut ad's and fantastic type specimens.
