𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐲:⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
"I'm the first to admit that Turkish food has never been a cuisine I've warmed to. I blame a visit to Istanbul (and the fabulous Gallipoli) back in 1997. We went to Turkey with high hopes, but the food didn't meet the hype.⁣

That was a long time ago, but memories held firm.⁣
⁣
Olive Thyme felt more fine-dining than casual, and there was no sign of the typical Turkish decor you'll find in many of the other Turkish restaurants around town. ⁣
⁣
White tablecloths and a minimalist arrangement of pretty Turkish plates on the wall kept things simple.⁣
⁣
Owners Sibel and Yalcin own and operate the restaurant, bringing produce from their farm on the Sunshine Coast to the restaurant.⁣
⁣
With so much to choose from on the menu, the Chef's Menu seemed the best option. The plates arrived promptly, with enough distance between them to savour the delicious flavours.⁣
⁣
🇹🇷 Hummus - a tasty blend of processed and whole chickpeas, with black tahini setting it apart. ⁣
🇹🇷 Muhamarra - this was my pick for the night. Made with chargrilled peppers and fenugreek, I would have been happy enough to sit down with their village bread and a bowl of this as my dinner!⁣
🇹🇷 Lentil kofte - served on a lettuce leaf with pomegranate molasses and fried onions.⁣
🇹🇷 Soujouk halloumi - the squeaky cheese was topped with beef soujouk and fig puree.⁣
🇹🇷 Moist pieces of charred chicken thigh paired with paprika yoghurt and quinoa.⁣
🇹🇷 Spiced lamb meatballs with sumac onion, cucumber yoghurt and pilaf.⁣
🇹🇷 Hazelnut baklava and Turkish delight⁣
🇹🇷 Kunefe – the dessert takes about 20 minutes to prepare, with kataifi, soft cheese, linden tea syrup, hazelnut and Turkish delight gelato."⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
