Was great to work with the team from "DV Safe Phone' on this campaign. Such an amazing charity doing great things helping those affected by Domestic Violence.
Hot off the press!
I am delighted to announce that our 2022 Gratitude Report is now officially out. This report celebrates the amazing things that YOU helped achieve in the 2021-2022 financial year, with us.
Thank YOU for choosing to make your impact - through us - by raising awareness, phones, and funds to support victims of domestic violence in need. We simply couldn't do what we do without your shared commitment to do all we can to ensure no call for help goes unheard.
So please, I invite you to grab a cuppa, and read for yourself the impact you are making with your giving.
With gratitude and grace,
Ashton Wood

I recently collaborated with Brent & Lu from Cancer charity Team Adem to donate 3 large Artworks to be hung in a new Radiation Therapy waiting area at the Adem Crosby Centre. The modern and amazing Sunshine Coast Cancer Centre was named after Brent & Lu’s son Adem. We got to deliver the finished artworks last Thursday.
At the bottom of each frame, I created a little QR code linking to my ‘Be Positive’ site www.joesurace.com where people can then read a little bit more about me and my cancer story as well as links to more of my photography. I hope my survival story can provide inspiration to other cancer patients at a time that they need it most!
Pictured is us handing over the artworks, and copies of the 3 images they chose which were based on a local water theme.

As a fellow Cancer Survivor, it was Great fun shooting with The Awakened Mumma recently to create some nice new lifestyle content.
Why I wrote a book!
"As I became immersed in cancer communities, I could see that many of my questions and challenges were echoed throughout the community. I could see that there was a gap in access to survivorship care (living with, through and beyond cancer) for many women.
Accessible and easily digestible information was needed to make our journeys easier. It occurred to me that some of our challenges are the ‘invisible load’ of cancer. They are invisible because they aren’t often
obvious to those around us, including our healthcare team.
Because they aren’t obvious, or measurable on a blood test or a scan-we don’t talk about them as patients. Often these invisible challenges aren’t discussed at our appointments with our healthcare team. Perhaps our concerns aren’t obvious because they aren’t life-threatening or acute issues?
The recurrent themes of parenting challenges during treatment and recovery, queries about exercise and nutrition in recovery, healthcare decision making, relationship strain, body image and self-esteem concerns, cancer fog, steroid side-effects, emotional strain, financial strain, early menopause, intimacy issues and struggles with returning to work are all invisible challenges that women may face in their recovery.
Many women feel like their ‘non-critical’ symptoms and longer-term complications are issues that they have to ‘suck up’ and tolerate because they are ‘normal’. Some women feel a type of guilt for raising concerns with longer-term symptoms. “I should just be glad that I am alive… right? ..,
Most importantly, I had the drive to help other women and their families to have an easier cancer journey. Often a small change can make a big difference".
