We have enjoyed a fabulous Book Week Parade at Our Lady of Dolours today. This year’s theme, “Reading is Magic,” truly came to life with colourful costumes inspired by an outstanding variety of books!
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful teachers and parents for your tremendous efforts in making this years Book Week Parade such a success. Special thanks to Mrs. Broome for all your hard work with this year’s Book Week celebrations!

Father’s Day assemblies are our Lady of Dolours are spectacular! Our prep student’s special assembly presentation was heartfelt as they shared hilarious dad jokes, sang us a special song, and expressed their love for their dads, grandads, uncles, and other special people in their lives!
A big thank you to Mrs. Watson for her dedication and care in creating such an inspiring assembly. It’s moments like these that create lasting memories for everyone involved. 😊.
Father's Day
We are thrilled to celebrate Father’s Day at Our Lady of Dolours with a fantastic Father’s Day breakfast! It was heartwarming to see such strong community spirit and appreciation for these important men in our lives. The dedication of the Parents and Friends team, especially our wonderful mums who prepared the breakfast, really shone through this morning highlighting the incredible community that is OLD! It was fabulous to see so many of our dads, uncles, grandparents, and other special men in our lives celebrate with us. 😊
This week some of our students participated in an inter-school Mathematics competition at All Saints School. Students competed in group challenges and were exceptional representatives of our school. We love Maths at OLD 🎓
This week we celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day. This day is an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' Cultures, and Languages. OLD supports the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation who help to provide books, books in First Languages and learning resources to families living in remote Communities across Australia

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent Open Day and Celebration of Learning! It was wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents, and new families join us. Our students enjoyed showcasing their achievements this term and we enjoyed performances from our School Band. Your presence made the event truly special.

A new and exciting opportunity for students to participate in Basketball with North West Saints. North West are seeking expressions of interest from the OLD community to join their already established group. Sessions will be held in the MPC. Please register your interest using their email.

We are thrilled to announce that our 2025 playground refurbishment is well underway, and our students are incredibly enthusiastic about our new play space. This area will provide a stimulating environment for play, especially as we approach the warmer weather. At OLD we believe outdoor play is essential for children’s development. It encourages physical activity, social interaction, and creativity. We are excited to see our students benefit from this new play space and look forward to keeping you updated on its ongoing progress!
It’s wonderful that see how passionate we are about sport at OLD! This week our students enjoyed training sessions from our NRL coaches on our beautiful oval! We firmly believe engaging in sports definitely boosts fitness and can positively impact academic performance!
And that’s a wrap! Year Five camp was a great success. Our students pushed themselves and were a credit to the school. They showed great teamwork, resilience and the camp staff commented on their manners and respect. They will sleep well tonight and the author of this post has her feet up 😴

Congratulations to Noah CM, Noah P, James, Elise, Yevin, Olivia D and Henry CM for their impressive performance and outstanding handball skills and sportsmanship at the Nova Handball Blitz semifinals! A special shout out to Olivia for making it to the second round and Noah CM for reaching the quarter finals. It’s great to see the enthusiasm for handball at our school and the support from NOVA. We will continue to keep up the fantastic handball competitions with our talented teams! 🎉👏

Ahoy, matey! 🏴☠️ Our Lady of Dolours Year One students delighted parents with an incredible performance of a Sea Shanty poem. Our students pirate costumes added to their characterisation and enjoyment of their performance! The talented Year One teacher’s pirate themed learning experiences were both educational and entertaining integrating English, Mathematics and HASS! Kudos to our Year One pirates and terrific teachers for such a creative and engaging performance!
We love learning and lunch days at OLD! A big thank you to Leane Middleton and her Lunch Day team for their hard work and dedication. It’s amazing how such efforts bring the school community together and create a vibrant, supportive environment. 🌟 Our Lunch Days are a regular and exciting part of the school term. Events like these can really boost school spirit and create lasting memories for our students. This week favourite orders included hamburgers, hot dogs, sushi and home baked treats 🍔🌭🍣🍪! Our next Lunch Day has a fabulous footy theme! Stay tuned to see what our top three lunch day favourites are next time…
Today our Year 2&3 students had an incredible experience exploring the wonders of the universe and the beauty of nature at the Planetarium and the Botanic Gardens 🚀

Handball Hype is happening at OLD! Nova’s Ash, Luttsy and Susie O'Neill’s Breakfast Show broadcasted live from Our Lady of Dolours this morning! We were nominated on behalf of many school families including Henry CM, Noah CM and Noah P to participate in Nova’s School Handball Blitz competition. We are super proud of all students who will be taking part in Nova's 'semi-final' tournament day, which will be held at Somerville House this Saturday! Thanks again to NOVA 106.9 for showcasing our outstanding Handball talents this morning on your breakfast show!

Nova FM Radio are coming to OLD tomorrow morning! Our Year 3 and 4 students are on the brink of professional hand ball careers to the timing couldn't be better. Our Lady of Dolours is so proud of our positive culture and strong sense of community! Our Year 2 students are learning in HASS about connections to different places around the world! Today was International Day in Year 2 and each student came dressed representing a country they feel connected too! They also brought delicious food from these countries. We had a wonderful day and thank all parents for this wonderful lunch for our students and teachers!!!

As a BCE school, today we celebrate St Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first canonised Saint & the patron Saint of the Archdiocese of Brisbane. At Our Lady of Dolours, we continue her mission of providing inclusive & accessible education, showing kindness & service to others, especially the marginalised in society.
Thank you to Mrs Stigter and our Year 6 leaders for representing our school at St Stephen's Cathedral for a very special Mass. It was wonderful to see so many schools gathered together today in her honour.
