The Endocannabinoid System (the ECS) exists within us all and plays a critical role in regulating and maintaining optimal function in the body. Our GPs specialise in restoring balance to the ECS but there are a number of things you can do to help bring the ECS back to a balanced state.
Here are some of our top tips:
- Healthy diet - Consuming a balanced diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, found in foods like fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts, can support ECS function.
- Adequate sleep - Poor sleep can disrupt ECS function, so ensuring you get adequate rest is important.
- Manage stress levels - Chronic stress can dysregulate the ECS. Practicing stress-reduction techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, or yoga can help maintain balance.
- Regular exercise - Engaging in regular physical activity promotes the production of endocannabinoids and their receptors, helping to maintain ECS balance.
- Reduce consumption of alcohol and other drugs - Excessive alcohol and drug use can disrupt ECS function, so moderating these substances is essential for maintaining balance.

'New RMIT, CDU study finds cannabis has 'deadly' effect on melanomas in-vitro in laboratory.'
Researchers found while melanoma accounted for about 6 per cent of skin cancers, it was the cause of more than 80 per cent of related skin cancer deaths.
Dr Nassar said existing mediations were often associated with side effects, but cannabis – a natural product – could offer an alternative option.
Cannabis treatment could offer glint of hope for sufferers of one of Australia's worst cancers After decades of radiation, melanoma removals and skin grafts, Leigh Raaschou says he wishes there had been other options years ago to deal with skin cancers.
Between 50% and 80% of the human body is made up of water, making hydration very important for maintaining general health and wellbeing.
Staying hydrated helps to regulate body temperature, flush out toxins, keep joints lubricated, digest food & absorb nutrients and keep our organs functioning properly, just to name a few of the benefits.
Consider this your friendly reminder to grab that water bottle 💧🚰

Some of our newer followers may not know that the Endocannabinoid System is at the core of what we do here at Ananda Clinics.
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is considered our ‘Master Regulator’ and plays a vital role in maintaining balance and function in the brain, endocrine and immune systems in all humans.
Our ECS influences many critical functions in the body, including: sleep, pain, inflammation, immune responses, and emotional processing.
Ananda Clinics’ treatment plans target the body’s imbalances by triggering the Endocannabinoid System to help relieve some symptoms associated with chronic illness, and imbalances in the mind and body.

New research led by the Cancer Council shows more than three times as many cancers are attributable to physical inactivity than previously estimated.
Associate Professor Brigid Lynch, senior author of the paper, said the findings provide a contemporary understanding of the cancer burden due to physical inactivity.
“We now know being physically active reduces the risk of 13 types of cancer. This new research highlights the number of individual cancer diagnoses that could have been prevented if Australians were better supported to integrate regular physical activity into their day.”

Research suggests that the human Endocannabinoid System (ECS) helps to modulate pain perception and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. Endocannabinoids and Cannabinoids may act on receptors in the joints and peripheral tissues potentially providing therapeutic benefits.
Ananda Clinics’ treatment plans target the body’s imbalances by triggering the ECS to help restore balance.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has recently updated its information on accessing certain natural therapies.
The website states:
‘’There are no restrictions on the medical conditions for which a prescriber may apply via the SAS to access an unapproved medicinal cannabis product for their patient, provided the prescriber has the appropriate knowledge on the condition being treated and on the medicinal cannabis product they wish to prescribe.’’
This removes the previous restriction of chronic conditions being the only conditions eligible for treatment.
Prescribers can now treat a larger number of conditions with medicinal cannabis, provided they have knowledge about the condition being treated and on the product they wish to prescribe.
Still not sure if you’re eligible? If you’ve previously been told you don’t qualify, or if you have questions about accessing our medical advice, one of our friendly and knowledgeable nurses are here to help, free of charge. Book a free call today.

Ananda Clinics’ Registered Nurses, Britt and Holly, are highly trained and experienced in the treatment of the Endocannabinoid System. They are often the first to speak to new patients and are passionately dedicated about helping people determine if an Ananda treatment pathway might be effective for them.
Our nurses have spoken to hundreds of patients with chronic conditions, sometimes in their lowest moments. This requires a great deal of skill and compassion, both of which Britt and Holly have in abundance. They love what they do and it shows through their genuine and admirable enthusiasm for providing quality care.
Please join Britt and Holly on 14 November to learn from their years of experience, and hear the answers to our most commonly asked questions.

📖 Study of the Endocannabinoid system in undergraduate nursing curriculum
Victorian Nurse Practitioner Simone O’Brien, a founding member of the Australian Cannabis Nurses Association (ACNA) is calling for more education and awareness for health practitioners around the Endocannabinoid System and medicinal cannabis.
O’Brien says, “Public education and awareness campaigns and training for health practitioners is key to the future use of medicinal cannabis products here in Australia. The ANMF supports training for nurses and midwives that increases their awareness and informs them about all aspects of medicinal cannabis, including the current regulatory framework and legislation, modes of action, therapeutic and non- therapeutic effects, adverse effects and drug interactions, and the role and responsibilities for nurses and midwives.
We believe education will help in reducing the stigma associated with medicinal cannabis by producing information that these products are not illegal and for some patients these products are very suitable as part of a treatment plan prescribed by a health practitioner.”
