Recipe time!!
As oranges are still in an abundance, we introduce to you our delicious Orange and Poppy Seed Muffin recipe!
(Vegan, Gluten & Refined Sugar Free)
1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
2. Make the flax egg by whisking **6 Tbsp warm water** and **2 Tbsp linseed or flax meal** together and let it sit for at least 5 minutes.
3. Combine **¾ cup soy or nut milk** and **1 cup orange juice**, then whisk together and let it set.
4. In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients: **1½ cups buckwheat flour**, **½ cup almond meal**, **¼ cup coconut sugar**, **1 tsp baking soda**, **1 tsp baking powder**, **pinch of salt**, and **2-3 Tbsp poppy seeds**. Mix well.
5. In another bowl, combine the wet ingredients: the prepared flax egg, the milk and orange juice mixture, **¼ cup melted coconut oil**, **¼ cup + 1 Tbsp maple syrup**, **1 tsp vanilla**, and the **zest of 1 orange**. Stir to combine.
6. Gradually stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until well combined, being careful not to overmix.
7. Spoon the mixture into greased muffin tins, filling each cup evenly.
8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops puff back up when gently pressed or a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Remove from the oven and muffin tins, then place the muffins on a cooling rack to cool before serving.
10. Enjoy at least one while they’re still warm! ❤️

Restorative Yoga and Yin Yoga often get confused, with many people believing they are the same practice. Whilst they share many similarities – they are both relaxing, passive, ‘yin’ practices that focus on cooling and calming the body, rather than strengthening and heating the body in dynamic ‘yang’ practices, there are also many differences between the two.

Winter is real! To help, we have a winter warming pumpkin soup recipe for you! ❤️
1. Heat ¼ cup oil in a large pot.
2. When hot, but not smoking, add ½ tsp hing and fry momentarily.
3. Add 1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped and 1 tsp cardamom seeds and cook for 2-3 minutes on low heat.
4. Add 1 kg pumpkin cut in cubes and stir well to coat pieces with oil.
5. Add enough water to just cover the pumpkin, then add 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper, ground.
6. Bring to boil, reduce to simmer and cook until the pumpkin is very soft.
7. Remove from heat and mash to a smooth consistency, adding warm water (or milk, coconut milk, or cream) if necessary.
8. Serve hot, swirling a spoonful of sour cream or yogurt (optional) through each serve and sprinkle ½ cup parsley over the top.

We’d love to take a moment to appreciate Maria Kirsten. ❤️
Maria was a senior yoga teacher, yoga therapist and occupational therapist. Sadly she passed away peacefully after a short cancer illness in April 2021.
Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Maria knows that she is a very special teacher and a wonderful soul. Vibrant in her nature, dynamic in her delivery, graceful and humble in her teachings and compassionate beyond measure.
Maria passionately shared her knowledge, wisdom and heart with our community for many years, and reached so many people through her work, both with Byron Yoga Centre, and with her own project, Yoga for Grown Ups.
Maria was dedicated to sharing accessible yoga with all kinds of people, and that’s exactly what she did (always with a laugh, or two). She lived in integrity, gave endlessly and inspired many.
has dedicated herself to ensuring Maria’s teachings continue and has adapted her Remedial Yoga course that lives true to Maria’s approach while also incorporating her own focus on holistic practice that extends beyond posture practice and into life. This course is for teachers, current yoga teacher trainees and experienced practitioners looking to expand their knowledge of applied anatomy, yoga beyond asana, and who wish to understand how to engage in a more person-centred approach to yoga.

Last weekend we had our very first Men’s Retreat - and what an incredibly beautiful experience it was.💙
We practiced yoga, mindfulness, bush walks, meditation, and shared around the fire. We learnt some simple, practical, time tested tools and techniques to more skilfully and ease-fully navigate life’s challenges, stresses, successes and set-backs, and create more connection, freedom and love in our daily lives.
Thank you to all who helped make this weekend possible.
