๐Ÿ“ฃ From midnight tonight, Queensland is adopting a nationally-agreed definition of a COVID-19 close contact and isolation periods for people who have tested positive.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿคโ€๐Ÿง‘ A close contact is a household contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case. A household contact is someone who lives with a case or has spent more than 4 hours with them in a house, accommodation or care facility. Close contacts must quarantine for 7 days from their date of exposure and have a negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on day 6 to leave.

Masks must be worn in our practice from 5pm tonight for all patients 12 years and older.

๐Ÿ˜ท Mask requirements across Queensland are coming into effect from 5pm today (Monday 29 March).

You must carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave home, unless you have a lawful reason not to.

You must wear a mask in indoor spaces, such as:
๐Ÿ›’ shopping centres, supermarkets, retail outlets and indoor markets
๐Ÿฅ hospitals and aged care facilities
โ˜• hospitality venues such as restaurants and cafรฉs (not required for patrons while seated; customer facing staff only)
โ›ช churches and places of worship
๐Ÿ“š libraries
๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ indoor recreational facilities and gyms (except if doing strenuous exercise)
๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ indoor workplaces (where safe to wear a mask and you canโ€™t physically distance)
๐Ÿš† public transport, taxis and rideshare, including waiting areas and queues for this transport
โœˆ๏ธ airports and travelling on planes.

It is strongly recommended you wear a mask outdoors if you are unable to stay more than 1.5m distance from other people, such as busy walkways and thoroughfares.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Masks do not need to be worn in some circumstances, including children under 12 years, where people have certain medical conditions, and in workplaces where it is not safe to do so.

You can remove your masks to consume food or drink.

For the most up to date information about mask requirements visit: https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/urgent-covid-19-update -qld

๐Ÿ“Please note a number of the above locations will not be open during the Greater Brisbane lockdown over the coming days. For full details visit: https://www.qld.gov.au/health/covid19/greater-brisbane-lockdown

32,000 people are hospitalised in Queensland each year because of skin cancers, including melanoma.

Sunscreen protects your skin from the sun's dangerous ultraviolet (UV) rays and can help prevent skin cancer, including life-threatening melanoma. This is backed by science.

Make sunscreen a part of your daily routine ๐Ÿ’ช

The Queensland School Immunisation Program offers every Year 10 student in Queensland free immunisation against meningococcal ACWY, given in 1 dose, as part of the National Immunisation Program.

Some of the highest rates of meningococcal disease occur among 15 to 19 year olds and this age group can transmit the meningococcal bacteria to people who are at increased risk of infection, including young children. As there is a safe and effective vaccine that covers strains A, C, W and Y, Year 10 students are being offered the vaccination.

It's important to complete vaccination consent forms to ensure your child is vaccinated under Queensland's School Immunisation Program โœ…
