Flynn Early Childhood Education Centre
Flynn Early Childhood Education Centre located in the Belconnen area.
We are a 140 place service offering permanent fulltime, part time and casual child care for children 0-5 years of age.
A few staff at Flynn enjoyed a night out at the Street Theatre to attend ‘The National Quality Framework – The Musical’.
This professional development was written and performed by MultiVerse - Red Ruby Scarlet and Louise Dorrat who have been working in early childhood for over 30 years.
This delightful musical was not only comical and catchy with its whimsical songs, lyrics and puns but it was also informative and encouraged those who attended to become reflective in their daily practices, Quality Improvement Plan, rituals and routines.
This certainly has been a great start to our professional learning and development in 2022!
Harmony Week is a week to celebrate Australian multiculturalism. It is an opportunity for all Australians to embrace cultural diversity and to share what we have in common.
Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are. An integrated multicultural Australia is an integral part of our nation's history and character.
Throughout next week, 21st to 25th March 2022, the children at Flynn will be invited to engage in a variety of experiences to celebrate Harmony Week. These experiences will be shared on the daily journals.
Families, as always, are encouraged to speak to their child/rens Early Childhood Teacher or Educational Leader to share their culture though stories, books and song.
Acknowledging Harmony Week links to our service philosophy which states 'we value the richness that diversity brings to our community'.
Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and recognise the outstanding achievements of all the strong women we know.
As Early Childhood Teachers and Educators we regularly hear stories from those in our community, personal stories and within our own service who have triumphed over their own adversities.
These people and stories give us strength, courage and hope. They remind us of how rewarding our career is and how lucky we are to have such inspirational people in our lives and in our community.
We also wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate the following women for their commitment to supporting the ACT community:
Kelli-Ann Jackson – ACT Woman of the Year 2022 for her work as a leader of Women’s Adventure ACT.
Asha Clementi – ACT Young Woman of the Year 2022 for her work as co-founder of The Girls Leadership Network and founder of Girls Run the World.
Lee-Anne Daley – ACT Senior Women of the Year 2022 for her work sharing cultural knowledge and building links within the community as a Wiradjuri woman.

We are so proud of what NBCA has achieved in 45 years and we look forward to many more years working with and supporting our community.
A great community initiative from the ACT Emergency Services Agency.

2021 Roundabout Canberra End of Year Appeal
As part of our partnership with Roundabout Canberra, we are collecting items for their end of year appeal.
Please be mindful that Roundabout requests that donated items should be in as-new or excellent used condition and for children and babies only. Roundabout uses the concept of “Would you give it to your best friend?” as guidance on quality.
We will stop collections on Tuesday 21st December to allow us a few days to get the donations to Roundabout.
Thank you in advance for supporting this End of Year Appeal.
Thank you Woolworths and Junior Landcare for your generous donation.
The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include an array of Indigenous focused garden areas that will support children’s interest in trying new and different foods, being responsible for growth in our gardens, as well as supporting our Reconciliation Action Plan which envelopes children’s connection to Ngunnawal land.
A snapshot of our time in lockdown, including bloopers.
Darcie, Sammy, Carlee and Sarah created this video to support children and their families returning to the service after lockdown.
We look forward to seeing you all again at Flynn Early Childhood Education Centre soon!

We can see some familiar faces in this video as Natasha and Anna share how we use the BeYou initiative at Flynn Early Childhood Education Centre in line with Quality Area 6 - collaborative partnerships with families and communities.
“Be You is the national mental health in education initiative delivered by Beyond Blue, in collaboration with Early Childhood Australia and headspace. Be You supports educators from early learning services and schools to develop a positive, inclusive and resilient learning community where every child, young person, educator and family can achieve their best possible mental health.”
We encourage all Early Childhood teachers and educators to sign up!

Recently we learnt of all of the great work the Canberra Pet Rescue has been doing to support members of the community in feeding their animals during the pandemic.
We know an animal can be more than a pet. They are family members who bring a lot of joy to the lives of others. Owning an animal supports positive mental and physical well-being and they are a great companion. This is why we wanted to do what we could to support this great cause and the community.
Over the last couple of weeks, the staff from Flynn Early Childhood Education Centre have been adding an extra item of pet food to their weekly shop.
Today we donated all of these animals goodies.
