Crafty Frog 2020 Bushfire Appeal
Collecting donations of Craft Items to be kitted and distributed to those affected by the Bushfires
Huge Thank You to everyone who continues to visit this page. We still have lots of items ready for donations to those groups affected by the Bushfires. We distribute these items through the CWA in the location. If you need supplies, please let me know where you are located, and we will do our best to get them to you via the CWA.
I have a room full of amazing donations that need to find new homes. I will be reaching out to the CWA at Batlow, Riverina and Qaama. If you know of anywhere else please message me and we'll see what can be done. Please note I am currently on Grandma duty in Queensland and so you will need to organise collection of the items from the shop - Crafty Frog in Canberra
I am hoping, now that borders are opening up, to get more stock out to a few of the regional areas over the coming weeks. If there is anyone who knows of a program that has been set up to support Bushfire affected people, who could use Craft Supplies, please get in touch with me as I really want all these amazing donations to go where they are really needed :)
Apologies for being slack with posting here. Covid has interrupted things a bit, although there is still work going on behind the scenes 🙂. Carlee-Anne very kindly drove a carload of supplies to Albury, where Rhonda met her and will take the supplies to very grateful recipients in Corryong and surrounding areas. There are more shipments being prepared for distribution as well.
I will try to post a bit more regularly 😉
To each and every one of you who donated craft supplies for those affected by the bushfires, this is an update. A few weeks ago Ian and I took two very full carloads to Albury where we met up with Rhonda..... and this is the follow on
"As promised, attached is a photo of the craft goodies handover in Corryong. We had fun trying to be socially distanced, and still get us all in 😆. The lady on the right front in the bright red jacket is Pastor Carol Allen who coordinates distribution. Wodonga CWA added some irons and tabletop ironing boards to go with the sewing machines.
We went up again last Thursday to help with unpacking boxes and to provide morning tea. The craft supplies have all found homes with lovely ladies who are so appreciative. Some were wondering how they were going to manage school holidays now Victoria is locking down again. So thank you, your staff and your donors again."
No more donations please as we still have a huge amount to sort and distribute once lockdowns ease.
This long weekend I am hoping to do a drive out to Eden, Batlow, Gundagai, Albury/Wodonga to distribute as much of the donated items as possible to Bushfire affected areas. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, they won't be kitted, however the items have been sorted and so I envisage dropping a box of quilting supplies, a box of knitting/crochet supplies, and a box of embroidery/cross stitch supplies at each location for distribution. If there is anywhere you know of - that is not high profile - and could do with craft supplies in and around these areas, please let me know.
For all our Bushfire affected friends.... I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you. I have probably another 100 kits packed and ready to go. We just have to figure out how to get the items to you. Desperate for craft items??? Pm me and I'll post directly to you.
Stay safe everyone
I popped into the Weeks Dye Works shop at the Nashville Needlework Market on Sunday and after a short conversation with one of the wonderful ladies there I was invited to choose some fabric that they have given to me to be used in kits for Bushfire affected people ❤❤❤. Huge Thanks to Miranda Weeks and her amazing staff
Apologies for the lack of posting.... we are still busily assembling kits. Now just waiting for the distribution centres to advise when they're ready to receive them. Meantime if anyone knows of a location, preferably rural to start off with, that would gratefully accept and properly distribute the kits assembled so far, please let me know. I am swamped at the moment, and really would love to send these kits out as I know they would be welcomed by the recipients
Huge Thanks to all those who donated to our Bushfire Appeal - no more donations needed as we're still working through what we've received so far 😉. Today Emma collected a carload of completed kits and they are on their way to Tumbarumba for distribution by the CWA ❤❤❤

I must say a HUGE THANK YOU and big hugs to the amazing volunteers who have been sorting through the mounds of amazing goods and kitting them into useable and hopefully inspiring kits ready to be given to Bushfire Affected people. Without our amazing Crafty Frog volunteers none of this would be possible.
Firstly a HUGE Thank You to all those wo have donated to date - still no more donations please. What we now need are people to help kit up all the donated items. As we no longer have use of the large class area, as our classes are back in full swing, the ladies have moved all the donated items to the back room. Caitlin, Christine and Jenny have been very busy sorting all the goods and now they need to be kitted..... HELP.
We have decided the best way to efficiently do this job is to return to a roster system. To this end, and due to the limited space available we are approaching the kitting in a slightly more structured way ie
Monday - Quilting supplies and we have room for 2 helpers
Tuesday - Cross Stitch, Embroidery and Tapestry supplies and have room for 3 helpers
Wednesday - Knitting/Crochet and we have room for 3 helpers
THURSDAY - NO KITTING
Friday - Papercraft and we have room for 3 helpers.
If you are able to help, could you please message me. HUGE Thanks in anticipation :)
Leeane very kindly dropped off a second shipment of donations to Batlow CWA last week including a sewing machine and some quilting kits. She sent through the following:
'I called in on the batlow cwa on Tuesday and caught up with Tina and some of the ladies. They are very grateful for all the contributions received . They are distributing from their rooms and opened after the town breakfast on Australia Day to facilitate distribution of craft kits to affected families.'
Well done to everyone who has donated. We are still wading through donations and it will be a little while before we'll need more. Meantime, please know that what you have donated is making a difference
We still have all these amazing donations to sort which we'll hopefully get more of done this week. Once we've cleared these out I'll let everyone know what is needed. Thank you very much for your support and generosity 🙂❤
More kits that have been packed, checked and will be collected and taken to Gundagai tomorrow. Huge Thanks to everyone who has donated and kitted. Lots of amazing items ready for new homes
More grateful recipients of your wonderful donations that are kitted up by our fabulous volunteers..... HUGE Thank You to all of you
What a HUGE couple of weeks we've had so far and it's only just beginning.... Thank you to all who've donated so far - we don't need anymore just at the moment as we're struggling to keep up with what we have. However once we've caught up we will be looking for more.
Your gifts of good quality craft supplies has been truly humbling. We've received supplies from Canberrans, and increasingly from our wonderful interstate friends and our amazing volunteers have spent hours sorting, collating and kitting the items into wonderful and usable kits. I have to say a special Thank you to Maureen who has been in most days and put in hours and hours of work. Also Jenny who's super organised and been getting us sorted as well. There have been many others and I am so grateful for your support.
And of course a HUGE THANK YOU to my amazing staff who have been making sure all our fabulous customers are looked after while I divide my attention between the shop and our Bushfire Appeal xx
NO MORE PLEASE
Huge Thanks to everyone who has donated items for the bushfire people - very much appreciated.
No more for the moment please, as we are struggling to sort, kit and distribute the large quantity we have at the moment. We will need more, but just not for the moment PLEASE.
If you have a couple of hours to spare today, Saturday, between 9.30am and 3.30pm we'd love help with kitting up all the amazing donations received so far. Our last big day of kitting will be Tuesday 28th January as our classes start after that and and we'll only have the back room available, not the two rooms we have now. Please help
Huge Thank You to everyone who came, sorted, kitted and packed items ready to distribute to bushfire affected, non high profile, areas today - I forgot to take photos 🙄.
Also big Thank you to those who've hand delivered and posted donations. We've received more gorgeous and useful items that will be making their way out to where they're needed shortly
If anybody has a free hour or 3 to help us sort through, kit and pack bushfire donations tomorrow, Tuesday, or Wednesday from 10am to 4pm we'd love to see you. You don't have to be here all the time, even an hour would be awesome. Please pm me if you're able to come.... Huge Thanks, Laura
Whilst I now have contacts in many regional bushfire areas, if you know of areas, or individuals, that are not high profile and that could do with donations of craft supplies please let me know. If it is for individuals please PM me only. Please be assured all personal details are treated with total confidentiality
While in Batlow, hop into the local Mountain Hand Made Arts & Crafts co op. Gorgeous shop housed in a 100 year old building.... yummy jams too 🙂
The first delivery to Batlow has been made ..... please know your donations are making a real difference. This is only the beginning
Batlow here we come 🙂🐸. Had to bring the bigger car today to carry all the amazing donated craft kits we've got for you
Yet another day of wonderful volunteers sorting through piles of wonderful donations, kitting and packaging them up ready for their new homes. Hopefully the recipients will be able to feel all the love that has gone into each and every package ❤❤❤
Huge Thank You to each and every one of you who've donated in so many ways ..... you're making a real difference
Maxine (CWA) sent me this photo of a grateful recipient of a kit that was packaged up and donated to bushfire affected people. Huge Thanks to all who've donated.... your gifts are making a difference ❤❤❤
Our fabulous volunteers have been sorting, kitting and packing up all the amazing donations that have come in to date.... I have had a number of customers asking what we need, and now we have a list. If you are able to help with the provision of the following that would be amazing:
Scissors. Small papercraft x 200 pair
Embroidery X 150 pair
Dressmaking and patchwork x 30
Double Sided tape small reels if possible x 100 reels
Glue sticks for children’s craft packs x 20
Paper for making patchwork templates 90 gsm A4 sheets
Small cutting boards to be used with rotary cutters (we have the cutters)
Miscellaneous items - Tape measures, Stitch counters, cable needles, stitch holders, stranded cottons, cross stitch needles, sewing needles and small embroidery hoops.
We have a huge number of kits made up and they are just awaiting the above items before they can be sent off. If each of my customers donated just one item off the list above we would have more than enough :)
Huge thanks those who have already donated and volunteered to help pack items.... we have only just begun
Today's effort for Bushfire affected people. We have 4 very capable teams sorting through all the amazing donations received so far.... More kits will head out to Maxine on the weekend for distribution
Good morning ladies and gentlemen..... Kit assembly is in full swing and we hope to have more completed kits ready for distribution to bushfire affected areas by next weekend. Maxine (CWA) has sent me a photo of the bag of Kids Crafts being handed over for distribution today...... Huge Thanks to each and every one of you
I keep forgetting to say.... with each kit we've included the following card which was designed by one of our clever volunteers
Today I had the absolute privilege of driving to Gundagai to deliver the first load of kits to the wonderful Maxine from CWA. The completed kits, containing everything needed to work them and covering crafts such as Knitting, Crochet, Cross Stitch, embroidery, tapestry, and kids crafts have been passed over and some of them will be placed into the hall that is currently set up to distribute food etc to the RFS and those affected by the Bushfires in country areas that receive little publicity. Maxine will also liaise with me and keep us abreast of where your amazing donations are going. More to come.
The photos also show the hall where the food preparation and distribution in Gundagai happen. Awesome set up
Canberrans you are AMAZING ❤❤❤.
Huge Thank you to everyone who's donated so far. Big hugs to the amazing ladies who've sorted through all the donations and started making kits ready for distribution and Helen who's been organising all the rosters and answering lots of questions on Facebook. I'm taking the first carload to Gundagi tomorrow. They are being delivered to Maxine (CWA - Country Women's Association) who will be co ordinating the distribution of the donations which is fantastic. I will take more photos and post them when the packages are delivered.
