Gungahlin Gymnastics

The 2024 Gymnastics Australia National Clubs Carnival kicked off on the Gold Coast yesterday for our MAG team with Will and Milo hitting the floor for day one, day two is Sunday. Our Level 6 team start their campaign today and day two Monday and our sole level 4 gymnast Oscar experiences his first national clubs Monday and Tuesday. Join us wishing the MAG team all the best!

Sunday was the wrap on the local MAG Competition Season for our gymnasts with the 2024 MAG Junior State Championships and the MAG Senior Winter Cup. Well done to all of our MAG gymnasts who proudly represented Gungahlin in the competition series and for our brilliant team results - 3rd team in Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 and fantastic performances by our two level 4 gymnasts Evan & Oscar and our Senior gymnasts who competed in the Winter Cup.

A huge shout out to the MAG Coaching Team who have done a brilliant job preparing the boys for the competition season. We also extend a huge thanks to the judges from Gungahlin who judged and ensured the competition can go ahead - Joel, Alana, Toby, Zoe, Lydia and Natalie.

The weather is warming up and school holidays are just around the corner..... that means it is time to get into the gym for our popular school holiday program! Running both weeks of the upcoming spring break from our Dacre Street facility with games, skills and free time, it is a busy and active two hours for kids from 5 years of age (must be in Kindergarten). The coaching team have voted and we are so excited to announce the winning designs of our "Design the Australian Olympic Team Leotard" competition! We received over 250 entries across both venues with so much glitter and bling adoring the walls. We recognise the effort all entrants put into their designs and were so impressed with the unique and colourful ideas everyone came up with. If you would like to take your design home, please take it off the wall and leave the blu-tac with the office. Any left behind after Monday next week will be recycled.

Good luck to this crazy bunch for the 2024 Gymnastics ACT State Championships kicking off at our Lysaght Street gym at 4pm!

This week we have loved hosting former Gungahlin gymnast Skye for work experience! Skye has jumped right into coaching during this experience, teaching basic skills, learning how the gym works and the hardest part of gymnastics coaching..... behaviour and group management! We have loved hosting her and foresee a future for Skye as part of our coaching team :)

It's time to bring the bling! Tune in from 5.10AM on Monday morning to see our Women's Artistic Team on the floor at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Australia has not had a Women's team at the Olympics since 2012 so we need to get behind this team and cheer our hearts out. We extend the biggest GOOD LUCK to Emma, Kate, Breanna, Emily and Ruby - TEAM AUSTRALIA!

Olympic Fever has hit and we are so excited to cheer on the biggest Australian gymnastics team to attend an Olympics EVER!

We will be streaming the gymnastics live and on repeat across the games in the gym and if you want to catch the action at home, we have this handy little guide of when the Aussies are in action. Get behind our Aussies while also witnessing the amazing feats of all gymnasts proudly representing their country.

We kick off with Jesse Moore in the men's artistic competition, the first ever artistic gymnast from Gymnastics South Australia to attend an Olympics, on Saturday at 11.30pm. Good luck Jesse! We are all cheering you on!

With Term 3 kicking off tomorrow, Monday 22 July 2024, we would like to welcome three new Junior Coaches to our team. James, Grace and Caitlyn are all gymnasts with us at Gungahlin and are taking the leap to start their coaching careers as part of our Junior Coach Training program. Please join us in welcoming these young up and coming coaches to the team!

With the Paris 2024 Olympics kicking off on Friday you can expect Olympic fever at Gungahlin! We will be streaming the games on our TV screens and celebrating Team Australia. Don't forget to get your Design a Leotard entry completed and handed in to the office. Weeks 2 & 3 will see our littlest gymnasts in Kindergym participate in our Kindergym Olympics.

Sessions run in the morning or afternoon and run for 2 hours. Children must be in Kindergarten or above to attend, beginners are welcome. Games, skills and fun in our fully equipped, heated gymnastics facility.
