The Rehabilitation Specialists
The Rehabilitation Specialists provide expert health solutions, NDIS, Life Insurance, Assessments/Training, CTP, Medico-Legal, Case Mgmt, Workplace Rehab
One thing we love here at the Rehabilitation Specialists is getting to introduce new team members!
Today we say hello to Hannah!
Hannah is our newest OT that started in our Sydney office on September 30.
If you’re ever looking for a person that loves running but not just one type, Hannah is your girl, as she enjoys those long runs to clear your mind but also loves a sprint to get a sense of running like the wind.
While running is what Hannah loves to do, it is far from the only thing she enjoys. If you are looking for someone to go on a holiday with and try lots of nice food, you can count on Hannah being the first to put her hand up for an adventure, and if you are going to Japan make sure to invite Hannah along, she would be over the moon as Japan is her favourite place!
For a couple of interesting facts about Hannah, she is from the UK and for those of you who are into Jordy Shore, Chloe Ferry and Hannah went to the same school! In the UK Hannah has a dog called Millie, and would love to have a dog here, but she doesn’t if or when she will be moving home.
In life we all have people we inspire to be like, they could athletes or anyone that lives the life you want. For Hannah, her inspiration to becoming someone she wants to be is her mum! Her mum is a nurse and is always up new things, looking to grow at every opportunity, she is exactly who Hannah inspires to be like!
Have you ever wanted a reason to grow a mustache?
With it being the 1st of November today, for the next 30 days we ask you to grow the best mustache you can for Movember to raise money for men’s health projects.
Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends are facing a health crisis that is rarely talked about. All over the world, Movember addresses this by funding groundbreaking projects and raising awareness.
If you’re able and committed to changing the face of men’s health, Movember wants to hear from you and there are a few ways you can join in and help support this cause!
On November 17 there is the Point to Pinnacle
November 9 you can take place in the Ride The Dirty Warrny
From April 14-25 2025 there is the Kokoda Trek
Lastly, from May 1 to May 16 2025 there is the Everest Base Camp Trek
If none of this sounds like your cup of tea or you can’t commit, you can participate by just growing a fantastic mustache this month and help spread awareness for men’s health!
Happy last day of October everyone!
If you look out at the street tonight, you might see a bunch fairies, pirates, and other costumes.
Tonight is the night when everyone gets to dress up, bring out their inner child and remember the joys of being a kid again.
Each year on October 31, we celebrate Halloween. Halloween is a tradition that originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Over time, Halloween has evolved into a day of activities such as trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats.
Everyone here at TRS wishes you a Happy Halloween and hopes you have a good night.
Make sure you control yourself and don’t eat too many lollies!
If you want to have fun this Halloween, do some arts and crafts like our Elijah! Making craft has never been so spooky!
Happy Halloween 🎃👻
With us nearing the end of October, there is no time like the present to say happy birthday to our October babies!
We have two wonderful team members who celebrate their birthday in October. These people are the fantastic Emma, our Senior Employment Consultant and Business Manager. And the amazing Deb, one of our senior Occupational Therapists and our team lead for Autism and Mental Health.
Both of these ladies are valued members of our team and help make sure that our clients get the best possible treatment. Without them we would not be the Rehabilitation Specialists we are today.
Happy Birthday, we hope you had a great day!
After a long week, we have made it to Friday!
While to many of you, this week would’ve been like any other week. To us here at the Rehabilitation Specialists, this is one of our most important weeks of the year!
As this week from the 21st of October to the 27th of October, it has been OT week!
Now you reading this post might be asking yourself, what is an OT? What we can tell you is that OT’s are great!
OT’s are the ones that will work with you if you are having difficulty performing everyday tasks such as dressing, cleaning, cooking and working your way around the house. They can also help you work on your fine motor skills so you can do activities like tying your shoes, picking things up, writing and more!
The 2024 theme for OT Week is Celebrating 80 Years of Connection! The first Occupational Therapists Club in Australia started 80 years ago, hence why the theme is what it is. Over the past 80 years, Occupational therapists have a long and proud history of coming together.
We want to acknowledge and celebrate whilst highlighting the growth and evolution of the profession.
All of the Occupational Therapists we have on our team at the Rehabilitation Specialists make us who we are today. We definitely wouldn’t be where we are without all the work they do for us!
It’s Wednesday!
You know what that means…
We give you a workout!
Today we have Elijah and Erika demonstrating how to use our gross motor dice! These games are a way to make your workout more fun and enjoyable.
Doing the gross motor games the way we showed you works on your balance and coordination while you have a smile on your face at the same time.
Some examples of gross motor skills include putting your hands on your head, touching your toes, spinning around and dancing!
If you’re struggling with your motivation, try doing some gross motor - that will put a smile on your face!
Have a go, we would love to see you giving it your best!

What were you doing in October 2019?
At the Rehabilitation Specialists, October 2019 was the month when we got to meet our wonderful Office Manager Nhi!
Since that first day we met Nhi, we knew she was going to become an important part of our TRS clan. From working behind the scenes and making sure it all runs smoothly in the office, to supplying the goods for our monthly morning teas!
Nhi, all of us here love having you around and seeing you when we rock up for a day of work. We know that seeing you in the office means that if we are having a hard day, your presence will make us feel better.
Congratulations on reaching your 5 year anniversary, we have loved every minute!

One thing we love doing here at the Rehabilitation Specialists is sharing our clients achievements. The client in the spotlight today is the wonderful Jase!
Jase is one of the clients that our fantastic Exercise Physiologists Madi sees. Jase has Cerebral Palsy and with Madi’s help they have been working on increasing his strength and balance on his affected side.
Today we show you some of the exercises that Madi does with Jase to help him tobuild up his strength. They also completed a re assessment of some exercises to see how far Jase has come compared to where he first started!
Jase smashed his record in his wall sit and the single leg calf hold. He then did his sit to stands, Jase is working hard to make sure he gets up straight before sitting back down.
Keep up the good work Madi and Jase, you guys are on your way to achieving great things!
Today we ask, what do you think the most important thing is?
Your physical health?
Your social life?
Your family?
Your friends?
We reckon that your mental health is one of those most important things!
This Thursday, the 10th of October is World Mental Health Day.
This year for World Mental Health Day we will be celebrating our meaningful connections and raising awareness about some connections you can make tosupport yourself, or those that are struggling with their mental health. Having a good group of connections can help you achieve good mental health, so you can seestraight and accomplish everything you want to in life.
If you are struggling, reach out. There are numbers you can call 24/7. One of these is Lifeline. Lifeline provides 24-hour crisis counselling, support groups and su***de prevention services. Call 13 11 14, text 0477 13 11 14 or you can chat online.
All of us here at TRS are excited, as next Wednesday October 9 will mark one year since we were lucky enough to have the wonderful guitar playing, movie lover, Carlos join our team!
Since he started, we have been able to watch him grow even more right before our eyes. Carlos works with clients of all ages and loves helping them build their skills.
You have brought so much to our team Carlos; we love having you here and hearing all about your life and all the knowledge you bring from Spain!
Together we will work to bring our clients the best possible care!
Happy one year!
What did you do over the past 2 years?
For the last 2 years Imogen, Tim and Jessica have been having long days and nights as they studied for their Masters of Occupational Therapy. It has all been worth it, as they had their graduation last Tuesday!
Everyone here at TRS is so proud of all the hard work you three have done. We are so happy to have you as part of the TRS team and look forward to seeing you guys grow as Occupational Therapists, we know you guys will shine in your field!

We can’t wait to meet you!
Deafblind Victoria is hosting a training workshop in Melbourne on the 28th of October!
We will have some of the TRS team attending, but encourage any other Occupational Therapists or other allied health professionals to attend as well to learn more about the DeafBlind community and how we can support those that are DeafBlind.
We are halfway through the week and you know what that means? A workout post of course!
Today we will be talking about grip strength!
Grip strength is the ability to produce a sustained force while you are gripping, this can be used through making a fist as well as a pincer type grip.
Having a stronger grip strength is associated with positive health outcomes as well as higher upper body strength. Among other benefits, having a higher grip strengthmay also help to reduce hand or wrist pain.
Having a stronger grip can also help you with everyday tasks such as tying shoelaces, opening doors, lifting objects, opening jars.
Here we have Elijah and Brendon showing us some exercises to improve grip strength such as the farmers walk and wrist curls. You can also try gripping andsqueezing a stress ball or some putty.
If you are having trouble with your grip strength and want to work on it, reach out to us via our website or come in and have visit! We are always here to help!
This week from the 23rd to the 29th of September is National Week of Deaf People. This year the theme is Sign Up for Sign Language Rights.
National Week of Deaf People provides an opportunity to celebrate the Deaf community and their language, culture and history.
It also provides an opportunity to increase awareness of Deaf people and Celebrate their achievements!
As we are well over the halfway point in the 30 days in September, we thought now would be a good time to wish our two team members who celebrated their birthday this month a Happy Birthday!
The month of September saw birthdays to our NDIS Manager Cass and Operations Manager Nick.
Both Nick and Cass are vital parts of our TRS family, we wouldn’t be able to run as smoothly without the work they do for us day in and day out. We wish you both a happy birthday, hope you had a good day!
Keep being the awesome people you are!
New Starter Alert!
On August 27, TRS increased by one with ANOTHER Emily joining as an Administration Assistant for our Rehab team!
If you’re looking for an all-rounder type of person, you can’t look past Emily when you get to know her. Emily’s hobbies go from one side of the scale to the other, everything from outdoor activities like rock climbing, hiking or camping, to taking part in singing and musical theatre.
To go on with all the outdoor activities, something interesting about Emily is that she went for a 7-day hike with her brother, his wife and their friends in Norway!
If you’re ever around Emily and want to hear her amazing singing voice, the best chance you will get is if you play some pop music or Chappel Roan! People who have heard Emilly sing have said that she is a gorgeous singer!
Emily, we are all so excited to have you as part of our team!
We look forward to seeing you smashing out any challenges that come your way!
We are halfway through the week and tomorrow is one of the most important days of the year!
Tomorrow is R U Ok Day.
R U Ok Day is a National Day of Action highlighting the importance of meaningful conversations. Studies have shown that people who are regularly asked if they are okay feel more supported, connected and cared about.
Katherine Newton, CEO of R U OK? says, “There is an increase in supporting behaviors around R U OK? Day, our National Day of Action. However, we don’t want people waiting until September to reach out to the people in their world who might be struggling because life happens every day.”
If you are struggling, reach out.
You can contact Lifeline for support 24/7 on 13 11 14.
R U Okay is not just one day of the year. It’s every day we are alive! Make sure to check on your mates, a conversation can save a life.
Now when you think of EP’s, you think of someone that loves physical fitness right?
If you do think that, then you are right on the money. Our newest EP Student Dillon loves fitness and competing in a wide range of sports. Anything from running around on the soccer field to going out for a day on the local golf course. If there is one sport that Dillon finds the most joy in though, it’s athletics, with his two events of preference being long jump and pole vault!
Let’s say Dillon has an event coming up and he needs to get in the zone, what better music to pump you up than rap with meaning full lyrics, like Count me out by Kendrick Lamar!
We ask you, what were you doing when you were 10? When Dillon was 10, he was lucky enough to win Raiders semifinal tickets through an article that he put in the Canberra Times!
Dillon, we all look forward to having you in our office for the next 4 weeks and watching you grow as an EP!
