NSW RFS - Coffs Coast Team
District Office of the NSW Rural Fire Service for Coffs Harbour and Bellingen.
Please be reminded that the Bush Fire Danger Period for Coffs Coast commences at midnight on Saturday night. This means fire permits are required for all burning off activities.
For fire information or to apply for a fire permit online, please visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au
The RFS and NPWS are still on scene at a bushfire on Dorrigo Mountain. The fire is burning in a fairly inaccessible location. It is within the National Park and there are no other threats at this time. If driving in the area please remain aware of firefighters and other personnel who are working to contain the fire. Thanks to crews who responded in the early hours of this morning to this incident.
Our Friends at the NPWS are Conducting a hazard reduction burn at Station Creek Road, Barcoongere. Smoke will be visible from Red Rock and Corindi Beach areas. Check Hazards near me for further details
Yesterday we held a very small ceremony to honour a few very special people.
Our amazing Nat was awarded her clasp for her long service medal for 21 years of service to the RFS.
Also recognised was the Great Cliff Last AFSM. Cliff has become the dignified rank of Group Officer Retired. Cliff was presented with a plaque recognising his service as Group 1 of the Coffs Coast team, a 35 year national medal clasp and a 40 year clasp for his Long Service Medal.
Behind every volunteer is a family that supports them. We also thanked Cliff’s biggest supporter his beautiful Wife Denise.
Thank you all for all you have done for the RFS Volunteers and Staff and the communities across NSW and Beyond
Looks like it’s going to be a great day !!!
Exercise Burnt Banana 🍌 - today Coffs Coast Team members honed skills in a friendly competition, focusing on pumping, Mobile Data Terminals, respiratory protection and simple water rescue.
A New Cat 7 for NSW RFS - Moonee Brigade. Congratulations!! We hope it serves you well
Today Moonee RFB bid a fond farewell to our trusty Mitsubishi Canter Cat 7 that has seen us through thick and thin, and welcomed our brand new shiny Isuzu Dual cab Cat 7 and the new memories we will make with her.
This vehicle allows extra room for more crew, and is also fitted with fantastic crew protection systems that means in the unlikely scenario of a fire overrun, we have the best system in place to keep us safe. Welcome to the family, we'll have to vote for a new name at the next brigade meeting (No we will not be calling it Trucky McTruckFace).
Coffs Coast Team has had the honour supporting NAIDOC week.
Keep the fire burning! Blak Loud and Proud.
The final vehicle in the schedule has been finished this morning, under the light of a double rainbow ….. this means 94 vehicles have had the Mobile Data Terminals installed in the past 3 weeks!! (Last 3 vehicles will done once the new brackets become available). This has been a huge task but one achieved with the combined effort of RFS Staff and Volunteers and the installers. Thanks to all that helped. We are looking forward to “go live” day in a few weeks.
Give blood or Plasma. It's good for the soul.
Congratulations to Operational Officer L1, Lachlan Tawhiti.
All the hard work pays off, well done Lachie.
Mobile Data Terminal update!! To date we have installed them in over 60 Coffs Coast and North Eastern Area Command vehicles, with around 30 to go next week!!
We have reached the training portion of the rollout. Expert Trainer Sandra has facilitated 4 sessions since Thursday, training around 80 Staff and Volunteers. These have been practical, hands and very informative sessions on all things MDT…. The participants will now take the knowledge back to the other members in their brigade.
We again thank those that have given up their time to bring vehicles in and those that have attended training
It’s a shiny new Cat 1 tanker for NSW RFS - Sandy Beach Brigade today!! This tanker has the latest tech to help our awesome Volunteers to do their work in a safe and effective manner. Congratulations Sandy Beach, we hope the tanker serves you well into the future!
The Coffs Coast Team recognizes the Long Service of its members, totaling 485 years, and pays tribute to some legendary figures in the District.
Thank you to members who have dedicated 10, 20, 30 and 40years. What an amazing commitment.
Today we embarked on a big project…. A huge upgrade in communication for our Volunteers.
The Mobile Data Terminals will allow better communication and the passing of up to date information to and from the field. 5 vehicles done…. 92 to go over the next 3 weeks.
A project like this takes a massive amount of planning and it’s great to get it underway!
This project wouldn’t be successful without the support of our wonderful Volunteers!! Our thanks to those that have volunteered to bring the vehicles in to the Control Centre as well as those that have put their hands up to attend the scheduled training.
We can’t wait til the MDT’s are fully implemented in our Team!!
A special shout out to our very own Cliff Last, Group Officer (retired) for being awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal in today's King's Birthday Honour list. Well deserved, congratulations from all of Coffs Coast!
We're in the Emergency Services Blood Drive, and we're setting out sights high! We've set a goal of 100 donations across the Mid North Coast by 31 August. Can we count you in?
