Our new Operations Manager....Joe Saunders 👏

Joe has worked in vocational education since 2005, originally training for Asset College from 2008-2013, before returning to his current leadership position in 2024. He is an engaging and dynamic facilitator, and a true subject matter expert in security, leadership and risk management. Notably, Joe was awarded an OSPA in 2021 for Outstanding Security Consultant of the Year, and in 2022 was recognised in the prestigious IFSEC Global Top Influencers in Security and Fire list – coming in #23 in the Security Thought Leaders category.

Commencing work in the private security industry in 2004 fueled a passion for protecting people and way of life. Over 20 years this has led to him holding positions ranging from entry level guarding to General Manager, and working in domains including security of critical infrastructure, aviation security, family and domestic violence, enterprise risk management, and educational security and safety.

Joe is a globally recognised thought leader in workplace violence, and the creator of the world’s first ISO 31000-aligned workplace violence prevention model. He has spoken at events all over the world, including the GSX Conference in the USA, on preventing and managing the risk of violence in workplaces and other settings. He has published articles in numerous journals and magazines globally. He currently serves as the Head of the Threat Assessment & Management Special Interest Group for the Australian Security Research Centre.

He holds a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation from ASIS International, a Security Risk Management Certified Professional (SRMCP) designation from SRMBOK and is a current Fellow and Regional Vice President (ANZ) of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management.

In 2021, Joe published Neon Jungle: A Bouncer’s True Tales of Lessons, Laughs and Lacerations recounting his early experiences working in the Brisbane crowd control industry. Outside of work, Joe is a father of four girls and an amateur stand-up comedian.
