In the middle of the Northern Territory you can find vibrant remote communities full of life and untapped potential.🌟

This year, our team got to travel to the Barkly region on several occasions. We recently went to Tennant Creek to throw a networking event and celebrate the area's achievements at the new Barkly Business hub. πŸ‘£

The event was a nice way to end the year and look back on what we've done in the area. We're excited about what's ahead for the Barkly region and we're committed to continuing to help the community grow and change for the better.🌱

If you're in the Barkly area and want to get involved with Impact North or Enterprise Learning Projects, you can reach out to us through our website.πŸ”—

As an eagle flew above us at yesterday's NAIDOC Week 2023 event, Clinton Gaykamangu, Elder, Yolngu leader and Yolngu Visual Artist spoke:

"Elders were like an eagle and a hawk, watching me closely. They could easily see I was in a position to learn knowledge. I am an emerging leader and Elder. I have been appointed by my clan to teach others visual arts and I need to pass this knowledge about visual arts to the next generation in my clan group. Yolngu visual art will always be Yolngu knowledge of teaching others on and off the field. Yolngu visual arts as an everyday way of practising and gaining knowledge to teach others to understand"

Thank you to everyone who came to our NAIDOC Week 2023 event yesterday. We were so lucky to be joined by Clinton and thank him for so generously sharing his stories, wisdom and cultural knowledge with us. We were hosted by the best spot in Darwin City, Mela Kulcha cafe, a social enterprise by Melaleuca Australia. If you're a Darwin resident or visitor we highly recommend getting down to this cafe. It's the most relaxed, breezy and beautifully appointed cafe, and it works to support, train & upskill migrants and refugees recently arrived in Australia. Their coffee is on point and their signature lemonade is on another level! Thanks to Kwame, Bibi, Virgo and the whole Mela Kulcha team for sharing this space with us.

A big thanks also to our Impact North network partners Katrina Mackie for her heartfelt Welcome to Country and Christine Kute of Christine's Exotic Eats, for the delicious catering.

We had such a wonderful morning and are so grateful for everyone taking the time to come together and celebrate our Elders, and the immeasurable contribution they make to our worlds.
