โš  Copper wire theft can cause severe disruptions to power, telecommunications and road operations, as well as cause serious hazards to the community.

Copper theft usually occurs at service infrastructure like roads and building sites. ๐Ÿ—

๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐˜ ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ธ ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ฒ?
โ€ข Exposed wires or a manhole that seems to have been moved and not replaced.
โ€ข People removing pit lids (used to cover underground services) without proper equipment.
โ€ข People accessing underground services during the night hours without a fully lit area.
โ€ข Someone selling second-hand copper on buy-and-sell websites like Gumtree and Facebook โ€“ and without being a registered second-hand dealer. May ask for cash money.

Marine construction activity is underway at the Gove Boat Club to upgrade marine and landside facilities at Inverell Bay, Gunyangara, near Nhulunbuy.

An excavator and front-end loader will be working on the existing groyne to build and extend the new groyne over the next two months.

Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance from the construction area while the excavator is in operation.

A marine spotter onshore and the excavator operator are contactable via VHF Channel 16 if required.

The boat ramp will remain open during the initial stages of construction.

A section of hand rail on the lower stairs at the end of Nightcliff Jetty has been removed for repairs.

The lower stairs are not accessible while repairs are completed.

The stairs will be repaired and reopened as soon as possible, depending on access with the tides.

UPDATE: THE BUS TRACKER APP IS NOW AVAILABLE

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure advises that the NT Public Bus Tracker app is temporarily unavailable.

As part of a system review to provide a modern and efficient public transport system for all Territorians, the department is exploring options for a bus tracking app.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience.

Demolition works are commencing on the former Casuarina Fire Station site on Dripstone Road, Casuarina.

A public tender has been awarded to undertake demolition of the existing building and associated infrastructure and remediation of the site.

Demolition is expected to be completed by late November 2024.

The Northern Territory Government will be delivering a new carpark and kiss and go area for Nightcliff Middle School. ๐Ÿš˜๐Ÿ‘‹

A tender has been awarded for the package of works which will include the construction of a new 9 bay car park and kiss and go area on Nightcliff Road.

The upgrades will help to alleviate congestion during drop-off and pick-up periods, providing enhanced safety, convenience, and accessibility for families, staff and visitors to the school, as well as nearby residents.

Works are expected to commence in October 2024 and be completed by February 2025.

All road users are advised to take caution during these works and comply with any traffic management in place.

Free public bus travel has been extended in Darwin, Casuarina, Palmerston and Alice Springs until 30 June 2025.

During this time, residents and visitors can enjoy taking advantage of this free service.

Concession or tap-and-go card holders will not be able to top-up their cards during this time.

The Royal Darwin Hospital will be receiving a new 32 bed modular ward at the main hospital campus, Royal Darwin Hospital.

The new ward will increase the number of beds available in the public hospital system.

Construction will begin in 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Access to the hospital and emergency department will be maintained at all times with some parking reduced during construction.

During construction, hospital staff, patients and visitors are asked to follow detours in place.
