Also any local buskers are welcome to play in front of our kitchen and bar my anytime you like with a heads up - while we are open (Thursday to Sunday) as long as the ambience is good and not death metal or trap music 😆😈

Open for lunch and dinner! Come down for a Moroccan feast and good time at flamingo freo!

Since I got back from Nepal I’ve had to have a good hard look at my life and all the chaos and overwhelm I’d created in the several months before I ran away to dance with Hare Krishna’s and harvest rice with a traditional Nerwali Farming community, very unplanned.

I came home to a clothes shop I had set up in my home taking over almost half the space, and 2 kitchen breakdowns cluttering up mountains of space in my main outdoor entertaining area that I couldn’t escape no matter how hard I tried.

Every time I opened the gate to squeeze past and feed my hens, I almost had an internal meltdown trying to ignore the sadly neglected spa that used to bring so much joy but was awash with dirt and grime.

It’s been a challenge, but I looked hard at my situation. I asked myself ‘why Frey? What the hell is all this for?’ And suddenly I started letting go of things that don’t serve me.

I also manifested what needed to happen next - gaging the amount of catering enquiries coming through on a daily basis.

‘If I get myself a commercial kitchen again I’ll be sweet! I can declutter and cook without stress!’

I loaded up my friends van with most of the clothes and dropped them down to the beautiful ladies who hit me up to share their space while I was away - the heArt studio - 6 Market St Freo - these girls are sisters from other misters and I am eternally grateful for their never ending patience and kindness with me.

They took my sorely neglected Featherhorn The Label into their shop and gave it an amazing display area in the front window and they’ve been nothing but patient and kind while I have flurried around getting s**t done and being heavily inconsistent with them. Sorry girls and massive gratitude to you both, you have no idea how much your support means to me ❤️🙏❤️ anyone in Freo go check out their beautiful colab space that has an incredible energy. It used to be the Didgeridoo shop for years, and also the Alchemist. There is a magic energy in there!

Back to the lead up of now….

I searched around and negotiated with several landlords for a commercial kitchen space, all the while I couldn’t get FOMO FREO out of my mind.

1. They were so good to me and put up with my spontaneous ideas and uncertainties

2. They were very flexible and open minded to my madcap ideas

3. they offered me a crazy generous deal after my month pop up.

Why didn’t I take their offer?

2 reasons - fear of commitment (5-7 year lease)

And

An overhead exhaust that doesn’t switch off between 7am and 11pm daily (white noise hum I didn’t realise I am quite sensitive to)

But

FOMO tried hard to find a solution for me. They won me over just with that!

But I still said no when I got back.

A couple of weeks ago they called me into office for a chat, they said ‘so Frey- what willl it take to get you back here?’

I said

‘What do you have in mind?’

The main man said ‘well we know you don’t want a long lease do how about a summer lease till 31/March? And a re-negotiation after that?’

I took all of 3 seconds to respond with ‘um f**k yeah!’ I missed that sexy kitchen!

He sent me an offer after I couldn’t refuse and now here I am in my happy place cooking away with EarPods as an easy solution to the white noise - and last weekend was our first trade weekend (softly - which is why you didn’t know ok)

This coming weekend we are trading softly again from Friday 5-9, Saturday 5-9 and Sunday all day 11-9 - softly because my new business partner and I are finding our feet and doing things carefully this time (his name is Guillaume Morillon and he is a good influence on me in many ways)

The following weekend will be Thursday night trade onwards.

And we will serving up delicious Nepalese MOMO’s as well as Moroccan Tajine and cous cous, Frittata, delicious whole food salads, orange Syrup Cake, iced Moroccan Mint Tea, Spiced Iced Coffee with cream and more…
