Bula Vinaka.
This year Pako Festa has had some changes due to covid, so instead of the yearly match and to comply with crowd control vs Victoria's covid regulations we have now been allocated a hall selected by the Pako organisers.
In this hall, we have been merged together with Indonesia and well as Pakistan sharing the hall space.
Here we will have food served on the day as well as pre-orders for food like lovo etc.
Below is the link with more details of our venue. Feel free to message me on our messenger for further details.
Looking forward to seeing you all there.
We will keep you all updated on this page and as well as Fiji Geelong Friendship Club page.

Another normal day of baking in our kitchen.
Dou mai Kana ππ
Vinaka
Lote for dessert ππ
Let me tell you a little story behind the meaning of our name.
Dou mai Kana is a fijian phrase for the word come and eat.
Dou(dough) referring you a group of people
Mai(ma/ii) meaning come or short for lako mai meaning come and join us
Kana(kah/nah) meaning eat
Back at home its is traditional and normal to invite families passing by even strangers to dine with the family.
I remember growing up we always had families, friends even friends of friends to join us for a meal. We always had people at home to share a meal or two no matter how big or small the meal were, it was the company that makes the food more enjoyable with them.
My parents always told me a house full of people(guests) shows how big hearted the host is. Never in my years growing up have I seen our family use a small pot to cook with as we always had company. Growing up we never had alcohol or kava at home but it was the food(meal) that brought everyone together.
We'd have people from different races, religious backgrounds and beliefs at home sharing a meal together. Whether they brought food or not it they we're never criticized for their difference.
I believe and have learnt food brings togetherness, unity, bond and full stomach too π€£π€£π€£
Being the youngest of five we all had a task to do when prepping a meal this is how I gained my experience with Fijian food. We have recipes passed down from generation to generation and perfected with time.
I will always be greatful to my parents and siblings teachings.
Naming our business wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, we wanted something different but had a welcoming sense of home. This is how Dou mai Kana came to be.
We hope you enjoy reading and watching our little business grow.
Thank you all for your support.
