On Saturday we threw open our doors and welcomed our amazing sponsors of the club for Season 2024. Although the day was cold, wet and windy, it was great to see them come out for the day and watch the boys in action.

Special Mentions to representatives from Bendigo Bank Highett, Technical Training Australia (TTA), Bild Group, Highett RSL and Sports Replay for making it down.

The generosity shown by our Sponsors definitely doesn’t go unnoticed. Their kindness makes it possible for our club to continue to run and support its Football and Netball programs and keeps us together as a club.

On behalf of the club and everyone within it, we want to thank our generous sponsors and look forward to finals with you and seeing you back in season 2025!

Thank you once again (in no particular order):

🔨 WEEKEND RESULTS 🔨
Another huge weekend at the Toolbox as we celebrated our wonderful Sponsors, TAC Road Safety Round and a 150 game milestone!

Firstly to our netballers; with their season on the line, on a horrible day in Dingley, they came out and matched everything Souths threw at them with scores practically even at the half. With a slight lead at the 3 qtr time break our ladies put the foot down in the 4th quarter and stormed home with an impressive 10 goal win. Jas was back from Europe but didn't miss a step whilst Sophie Peach had her best game for the season, with our leadership team stepping up and guiding us home when it mattered!

Our Reserves team got the job done in some horrendous conditions but an amazing performance from Nathan 'Cupcake' Davison with an incredible 19 goals was a standout for the day - and probably the year!

Onto the Seniors; and a big congratulations to Jack Cafarella on game 150 for the club. A great team performance all round with 11 different goal scorers for the the day! The boys now look on to next week in a big game against Lyndale

Thank you again to all of our amazing sponsors and Community Bank Highett for their ongoing support of the club!

🔨 GAME DAY 🔨
The fun doesn't stop at the Toolbox as this week with SPONSORS DAY as our footballers take on South Yarra - get down to support our wonderful supporters!
It is also Round Safety Round this week so be sure to get around all of our players as they wear the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) blue armbands.

Our Netballers are playing to keep their season alive on Saturday, and after a big win against 2nd place last week, a win on Saturday would see them still in the hunt for that illusive 4th Position.

Our Footballers look to continue to keep the foot on the pedal also against South Yarra as they congratulate Jack Cafarella on 150 games for the club.

A special thank you to BildGroup for their ongoing support of the club!

Liwik Yiyah Consulting completed the design and the club and players are very proud in what its stands for!
Lets take this opportunity to reflect, celebrate and learn together!

Thank you to Brad Rowswell MP and BildGroup contributing to the contributing to the design and purchasing of our jumpers respectively.

🚨 MILESTONE ALERT 🚨
A very big congratulations to Jack Cafarella on 150 magnificent games for the Hammers!
Jack's first season for the Hammers was back in 2014 and he continued that right through until 2019 where he ventured to Europe for a season, but then returned in 2021. Now one of the ''older crew' at the club, Jack's leadership has continued to grow and inspire those around him.

Having enjoyed a good chunk of his career in the backline, Jack now likes to swing forward and jag the odd goal or two and has a total of 11 goals for 2024 season.
Some may not know that Jack is son of legendary Hampton man and Assistant Coach Dave 'Doggy' Cafarella - fair to say that doggy is very proud of his son and the career Jack's had with the hammers.

We wish Jack all the best for Saturday and hope to see him out on the field for the Hammers in the years to come!

Thank you to Physiosports Brighton for their ongoing support of the club

On behalf of the President, Committee, Players, supporters and sponsors of the Hammers, we collectively congratulate Darren Harrison on his 400th game over the weekend and the party that came with it!

What an amazing turnout for Darren and his family and it was so good to see our community get behind this club legend hitting a never-before-seen milestone for the club.
We know Darren hates the spotlight, but it was fair to say the smile never disappeared from his face on Saturday.

Truly a living legend, we hope to see Darren continue his footy career with the mighty Hammers!!! 🔨

🔨 WEEKEND RESULTS 🔨
That was one of the biggest days at club for a very long time and it did not disappoint!!!
We started the day off with our netballers playing an early game which resulted in a 1 goal win over one of the best teams in the comp. Amazing effort from the girls after falling 8 goals behind halfway through the third quarter. An amazing game of netball and the girls made sure to party hard into the night.

Our Reserves, back to full strength, took care of business with a big win as the crowds started rolling in, eager to catch a glimpse of the great man in the Seniors. 11 goals to Nathan and a cracking team effort saw the boys bring it home.

Then it was on to the main event for the day with Club legend Darren Harrison running out for his 400th game. A huge crowd got behind the king as he ran through his banner with his son. The great man had a fantastic game and finished with 4 majors for the day. A strong performance from the entire team too with Madden kicking 10!

Once the game was over, the party really started with live music and drinks flowing long into the night. A big thank you to the club and all of our fabulous volunteers for organising the day.

A big thank you to The Sandy (Sandringham Hotel) for their ongoing support of the club!

Its not every day a 400 game player comes along but this weekend we celebrate an absolute legend of this club in Darren Harrison! After breaking the games record 2 seasons ago, he's back breaking another milestone and we encourage all the Hammers fans and family to get down to the toolbox on Saturday to watch this incredible bloke in action.
From all of us here at the Club we wish Darren the best of luck in game 400 and hope he has a memorable day!

🔨 WEEKEND RESULTS 🔨
Our ladies knuckled down this week in a must-win game and did just that with a 11 goal win over Parkdale. A quick fire 6 goals in the first qtr set up the game but a 3rd quarter fight back saw the vultures within a few goals. However, our ladies stuck fast and finished off the game nicely. Special mention to Liv with a haul of 34 goals in shooter position and 'the utility' Charlee for her work from WA and Centre.

Our Seniors hit their straps with a big win over Dandenong West with 'Mr R&R' Levi kicking a bag of 8 and his partner in crime Madden booting 6. All round good performances from the boys as we creep closer to finals.
Our Reserves hit back this week with a nice bag of 4 from Howso and a generally strong team performance to snag the 4 points.

A big thank you to Community Bank Highett for their ongoing support of the club

05/07/2024

🔨 GAME DAY 🔨
Our boys head down the road to take on Dandenong West and continue their winning ways on Saturday as we salute our 50 gamer Keegan Timms!!!

Our Ladies once again take on Parky and need a win to keep their chances of playing finals alive.

A big thank you to Highett RSL Sub Branch Inc for their ongoing support of the club!

🚨 MILESTONE 🚨
A big congratulations to Keegan Timms on 50 games for the Hammers this week!

started his journey with the Hammers in 2018 in the U19's comp and has gone on to play a mixture of Senior and Reserve football over the years!
The quietly spoken but fiery running machine may have only kicked the 2 goals in his career but we're hoping he'll add to that tally on Saturday!

Here's hoping Keegs has a long and successful career with the Hammers!

Our Story

The Hampton Methodist Football Club was formed in 1947 and played in the Melbourne Methodist Football League.

Origins: A group of young people met at the back of the Hampton Methodist Hall to see if they could form a new Football Club. Elders of the Church agreed with Rev A Veneer becoming the clubs first President, with Wally Adams as Coach and George White as Captain. The Fewster Road Ground was allotted to the club but no change rooms had been built at that stage. Success was limited in the next few years with the Club only missing out on Finals in 1951.

After a brief time in recess, the club resumed proceedings in 1959 where they won their first Premiership under Coach Ken Gill.

1960 say the club put into ‘B’ Division where it finished in the Top 4 but were beaten by Box Hill by 4 goals. The Clubs Second Premiership followed in 1961 with the club finding success throughout the season and Barry Peel winning the Goal kicking with 55 goals.
