Retro Phone Table

Little retro phone table with grey, vinyl seat and some lovely wood grain throughout. Top has been refinished. Draw pulls out and is reversible to make it a right or left handed seat, depending which side you like to take your calls from.

# make Blackwood popular again.

Just my personal opinion, but Blackwood seems to be a bit out of fashion at the moment - sort of like Huon Pine can be at times. Blackwood is an amazing Tassie timber with so much variance in tone and grain. It’s solid and comes up so beautifully when given good treatment and finish.

This is my workshop for the moment and these 3 Blackwood coffee tables are next on the restoration block.

Tas Oak Tea Trolley *SOLD*

Tas oak tea trolley on castors with fold out extension leaves. Top has been restored and finished in OSMO to bring out the lustre and grain of the wood.

This trolley features fold out leaves which work on spring loaded lockout hinges making it compact or a drinks trolley you can wheel out and extend for those special occasions.

Complete with drawer and bottom shelf this piece will make a handy little unit in the home.

I did have to replace the drawer handle as it was damaged recently - see last two pictures.

Niels Gammelgaard ‘MOMENT’ Table for IKEA *SOLD*

Iconic ‘MOMENT’ Table by Niels Gammelgaard for IKEA, 1986. This vintage IKEA piece was design to accompany the MOMENT sofa and GUIDE shelving unit. At a healthy 2 metres long, designed to be either a dining table or a desk, the piece won design awards and accolades from industry peers when it was released. The table features a tempered glass top with steel frame.

Kauri Top Farmhouse Table *SOLD*

Farmhouse table with Kauri and figurative timber top, featuring some tiny birdseye in the grain. (See last photo.)

The light timber contrasts beautifully with the super dark legs and frame and is a comfortable 4 seater.

The table was stripped of a thick, old, white lino, adhesive and hessian covering to reveal the timber beneath and then finished with period appropriate oils and waxes.

Burl Inlay Coffee Table

A dark burl inlay coffee table to set off any living room. Layers of black Japan, toning the natural wood colour to a dark brown, highlighting and contrasting the golden burl inlay, make this a unique piece amongst coffee tables.

Featuring semi-rounded edges on the legs and finished in natural oils for protection and to highlight the timber, this could be the stocking filler you have been looking for.

Antique washing basket that was given a quick once over for a friend a while back. I think it’s a really cool piece. I believe the piece is originally tasmanian and about 60-80 years old.

Chairs

We just love Parker furniture at Leviathan.

The quickest of sneak peaks at the Moonwalk today before going to fix a table today. Happening until 6pm if you happen to be in the Moonah Area.

Unearthed some funky pea green retro fabric on these chairs from 1975 today. Not sure of maker and I still have 3 to unwrap so who knows what will be underneath them all?

Quick trip to Longford near Launceston yesterday between hockey games to check out .tasmania and found a cool little coffee shop that I never would have found if I didn’t go exploring

Blackwood Round Dining Table *SOLD*

MCM Blackwood round dining table with curved leg base. Stripped sanded and refinished in natural oils to bring out the lustre of the timber. Beautiful contrasts and figuring through the timber in the legs and tabletop. This one catches the light nicely.

Wound back the clock about 180 years for today, in contrast to the contemporary of yesterday, and visited in New Town. One of the oldest houses in Hobart and maintained by the National Trust. I feel like everyone in Hobart goes here on a school trip at some stage and it was probably the last time I visited.

Some snaps from yesterday’s adventures. We visited 4 architecturally designed homes or extensions, Hampden Road House was the winner for me, but Slow Beam - first 3 pics, was also a standout.
