A MESSAGE FROM SOURCE ECOHUB!! ❤️

Good morning, Vegan Community of nipaluna/Hobart!

I’d really love to connect with other like-minded people over something delicious and cruelty-free, and perhaps recruit some help for Source. As the weather cools down, now is a perfect time to spend some time making meaningful connections and wonderful vegan creations together in a warm kitchen.

Have you heard of or visited Source EcoHub? Source is a small, community-led cooperative at 12 French Street, Sandy Bay focused on sustainability and well-being.

Source is needing some kindly folk to help support what we do, especially in our indoor space. The indoor space has a commercial kitchen, a projector and screen, a piano, a small performance space, and a tea and coffee area. Mostly we are volunteer-run but there are often opportunities to land paid catering jobs and similar. We also have a wood-fired oven which has produced some amazing vegan pizzas over the years.

There are opportunities to contribute your time and skills (ideally 1 or 2 hours per week) in the capacity of;
-vegan cooks
-movie night organiser
-hot drinks organiser (we are famous for brewed chai, mulled wine, and herbal tea, and we have recently acquired a coffee machine if you’d like to help us get it ready for use)
-promotion and communications
-foraging folk (our organic community garden help provide ingredients for our kitchen ops), and if you’re so inclined,
-an admin assistant to help me with the meetings etc.

One can invent their own role and projects, too. Please spread the word and get in touch with me if you’re interested via [email protected]

Thank you! Photo for attention, this is from a catering event we did in summer.

Hello everyone! I apologise for the radio silence.

Vegan community dinners in Hobart has always been an incredible event, with consistently as many attendees as the venue legally allowed. It was so incredible for the community and we would routinely raise $1-300 for local charities. It is an event that brings us closer as a community and is a terrific method for bringing others into our lifestyle.

Running an event like this may seem daunting, but it is well worth the effort. Even a single person can organise vegan community dinners with the help of the incredible volunteers, who help cook and organise the venue, but more organisers is better.

If you are interested in running these events, please message the page! I (Mark) may be able to help out with the first event or two and can provide you with the resources we have used so far.

Hello you lovely community!
We’ve been missing your faces (and insane dishes;)) so much these last few months, and we apologise for the ongoing uncertainty around resuming the Vegan Community Dinners!

Thank you so much for sticking with us during this weird hard time, and as a reward, PENCIL in September as a proposed month to get the kitchen warmed up again.

This is of course subject to change, so please save the date, but be aware that we want to do everything we can to keep you all safe!

Please send us a message if you’ve got any questions about the next few months, and may your winter be full of cups of tea and vegan snacks!
Love, Freya, Kathryn, Mark and Ella!

I’m super sad to say that we have made the decision to postpone the Vegan Community Dinners until further notice.
We were so excited to share another beautiful night with you all this month, but it’s in everyones best interests if we take a step back while everyone has a little space to connect with the people that they love during this strange time.
We love you all, and appreciate all the support we have had over the last year!
Please keep an eye on the page for any more info and start prepping your amazing meals for when we start back up again!
Love, Kathryn, Mark, Freya and Ella # # #

Hello lovely folk, we are sorry to say that the Vegan Community Dinner won’t be running this month!
This gives us more time to plan an amazing evening for March, so make sure that you keep Thursday the 26th of March penciled in for the next fabulous Vegan Community Dinner!

We would also love to hear from you with any organisations you would like to support this year, generally we are looking for groups who are based in Tasmania, follow a plant based lifestyle and have similar ethical views to our little community :)

Send us a message with any suggestions, and of course if you’re wanting to help out and volunteer for the next dinner, we would love to chat to you ❤

From this months dinner onwards we now ask that you print your ticket to show at the door to confirm that you have bought a ticket. We only ask that people do this from now on as we have limited seating and the amount of food made is to accommodate up to 50-60 people. This is why we have to limit the amount of tickets we sell each month. If you ever miss out on a ticket you are welcome to volunteer and make a dish as we always need volunteers making food. Thank you!
