Health check helps to find, prevent or lessen the effect of disease - it is better to avoid disease than to treat it.

If you are within the age range from 45 to 49, and have a ‘risk factor’ meaning anything that increases your chance of developing a chronic disease, then you are entitled to a health check.

Risk factors include:
- High blood pressure
- Extra weight
- High cholesterol
- Family history of a chronic disease (eg cancer, diabetes, heart disease etc)
- Lack of physical activity
- Poor diet or alcohol use
- Smoking

The whole cost of the health check session will be covered by Medicare (bulk-billed).

Risk factors for skin cancers such as BCC, SCC, and Melanoma include:
Anyone on medication for autoimmune disease, acne treatment, (acne and PCOS treatment), immune-suppressed patients, pigmented moles or lesions that may have changed, patients with skin disorders such as chronic eczema or psoriasis, family history of skin cancers, occupational exposure, and past use of UV sunbeds or multiple sunburns as a child.
