Tempo Basketball is a skills development academy focused on helping all athletes achieve their goals.
In this session Em is doing a drill called fives, instead of 5 in a row she chose to do 15!
At the end of your next session we can see what you get, only rule is you get a max of 5 attempts.
Very excited to announce that we are teaming up with - The Speed Project!
The good people at "The Speed Project" have developed training sessions targeted at Tempo Basketball athletes. The ability to have a fast first step along with decelerating rapidly is a crucial part of basketball!
Session's will start this Sunday between 10 am-12 at Moorabbin Little Athletics Centre.
Spots are very limited so please let me know if you are interested.
It's great to practice particular moves however to make them feel comfortable, I'd HIGHLY recommend incorporating some freestyle ball handling into your workouts.
Practice those new moves and really solidify them into your bag 🎒🎒
Filmed before lockdown**
On offence if a shot goes up, guards will chase into the paint to quickly pick up there player.
However if your team gets the offensive board, smart centre's will look for the open shooters.
I teach guards to quickly back out and have there feet set, ready for their shot.
Working on a lateral drop into our shot. Making sure we get our legs balanced, ready to explode up. 🚀🚀
Trying to share everything I know.

Pre lockdown vibes 🧪🧪
Push through downhill steps+ Arm swipe + Straight up and down floater
What we did:
Downhill Cross jab + sweet spot take off + 1step, same foot same hand floater + straight up and down jump.
Why we did it:
We want to make the defence react not anticipate, in order to do this we need to give them a reason to react. By attacking downhill we put the defence on the back peddle therefore once adding the cross jab we force a reaction.
We can never always know how the defence will react, but if we perform the move correctly more often than not we get our desired outcome.
By taking off from the sweet spot (half way between charge and foul line) we force the split line to make a decision. Ether come and commit to the ball however possibly leaving his man on weak side.
(So if he dose come and meet you early just dish it off)
The split line defence wants you to come to the split, he/she won’t need to move to come out of position.
We chose to jump off the first step, followed by a same foot, same hand finish for one major reason.
TIMING‼️
If the split line does come out we want to make there timing to commit as hard as possible.
Instead of taking a two step layup we took one.
Often athletes who will jump off there right leg will finish with there left so we chose right.
Now this is something that feels super awkward when you first start practicing it. But over time like anything it get easier.
I mentioned it before about making the split line move to close out, same concept for the jump. If we do a running floater and move forward we shorten the distance the split needs to move.
Make them move!!
So we are really trying to jump and land straight up and down.

It’s exactly what my athletes have been working on for the past few months. Watch the off hand movement whist ball is tucked.
It gives you such freedom to move and manipulate your defenders body.
I’m super excited to be working with
Dope stuff coming for the Tempo Fam✌️✌️
Ever done like a through the legs freeze before or even a hessi?? This is a very similar concept but just applied differently. Pause enough to actually relax the defence and then go with speed⏭⏭
This is fairly simple so try and give it a go! 😆
Big thanks to the good people at for always looking after me time and time again!🏀🙏👏
Think about the angle change 🤔
Don’t get me wrong the move is great but the main reason why this actually worked is the original swipe and bump (at the top of the 3) which forced Crowder to be on the back peddle.
We often hear the term read and react on offence but the defence is doing the same thing as well.
As the offensive player We want to force the defence to make a quick reaction.
The defence having there arm swiped and bumped meant they were much more susceptible to misdirection, especially whilst moving backwards.
I don’t think that if you just did a through the legs + a onside to Crowder in a relaxed half court setting he would even be effected by this. He was forced to react from the moment he was guarding him.
🪣🪣
Right foot drift + push through + narrow stance(even narrower than this vid) + right foot lead onside + jab.
This weekend I will do more of a breakdown on this and with added counters.
Sn**ch pick up + up and under = 🪣
